yep, that try should not have been allowed. D'Arcy grounds the ball before the line and then loses control of it forward. It should be a 5 meter scrum to the defending team.
@pnelnik1 WTF r u on?! Do you even know how to play rugby?! Your allowed to ground the ball before the line. As long as the ball goes over the line with someone touching it (this case Gordon D'Arcy) the try is allowed
@TB4ful Watch it again carefully. D'Arcy grounds the ball before the line and then looses control of it. Hence it's a knock on. If he'd held onto it then it would have been fine. But he didn't.
@pnelnik1 Yes of course he looses control of it. Going at that speed and then diving, anyone would lose control over a rugby ball like that. You can watch any player who dives with the ball, and they'll all lose control. And as long as it is over the line with D'Arcy touching it, it is a try.
@TB4ful What you say makes sense... when it happens in goal. What happens here is that he touches down it before he reaches the line then loses control before he goes over it. Not disputing whether he touched the ball down or downward pressure or anything, just the positioning. It was a good try alright, were the line about a foot further out. Just look at the replays and you'll see.

When you have the ball you only have to touch it down, all that stuff about control and 'downward pressure' matters when it's loose in the endgoal

If you look closly you'll notice that he didn't actually have control of the ball once he got over the line.
