  • This is an awesome reminder of our God and his blessings on this University. To those who say that we are only fairweather Christians at Union, I am confident from being at this university that even if we had not been blessed in recovery like we were we would have said blessed be the name of the Lord.

  • now look at the devastation of 2011

  • This video still brings me to tears when I watch it. I was not on campus that night, but my brother was. He was in the building next to the one that had the people trapped the longest. I still praise God that nobody was killed.

  • That was 3 years ago tonight.

  • there not the only ones geting hit that night i live in decatur county but i rember that nite...

  • What catogory was the tornado?

  • @EmoPrincess12312

It was rated as an EF4.

  • @TnTornado1128 Wow...I pray to everyone who have gotten hurt :)

  • Comment removed

  • Praise God that he has restored union and is still restoring union and for the great and mighty work that he did in the recovery of this campus! :)

  • If only the storm had destroyed the entire university and the US would be rid of another pseudo-intellectual religious university that labors under the delusion that it is somehow an institution of "higher learning".

  • @Balian49 Truer words have never been spoken.

  • IT was SO much fuss over that tornado cause that is a WHITE college that the tornado damage....But let us not forget back in 2003 a worse tornado tore up the east side of Jackson (predominantly black) and the damage was twice as bad, there was not that much fuss. And plus Union was completely built back only a few months later....it took YEARS for them to rebuild East Jackson.....WHY!!!!

  • I was a student at Union when this happened and was on campus when the tornado hit.

40 million dollars worth of damage and yet 2-3 weeks after this tornado struck, Union reopened and finished the semester.

God is unbelievable with how much he has blessed us.

  • Did Union University ever re-open after the tornado?

  • yes it did

  • @UsonianAC A tornado can destroy the buildings on this campus, but it will never destroy the spirit of Union

  • Thanks for vid. Powerful storm and an even more Powerful God.

  • So why does god not help out in other massive storms?

  • My sisters best friend was stuck in her dorm in the bathroom. Thank you God. <3

  • heard about on k love , i guess it makes us think about the great value of life, and the test god will put us to to see how strong are faith in him, this was not a miracle this was just are father from above protecting his children

  • WOAH! Just heard about this on K-LOVE. I attend a small university here in KY & could only imagne what I'd do if my faith was tested at such a magnitude! GOD BLESS all of you that've experienced this or anything like it. I wonder though, sometimes when storms are brought your way it can make you stronger.

You build a house out of straw, its destroyed so you rebuild with sticks and mud, its destroyed once more, then with a little faith and God's mercy you rebuild again with brick & are blessed

  • I just heard it on K-Love too. This is such an awesome testimony. PRAISE GOD!!!!!!!

  • i went through that storm....... it was pretty scary..

  • one year ago today. . . I remember that day. And to me its amazing that no one on campus died. I am so thankful for that, my friends sister was trapped in her dorm bathroom with 2 other girls, it scared me.

  • I was there. That night was so terrifying, but taught me what trusting God through the storm really means.

God has truly worked a miracle then and even now, almost a year later. His Providence and faithfulness is amazing. Praise the Lord!

  • i live in tennessee my brother was there

    great video PRAISE LORD.

  • i was there... lost everything... just like pretty much everyone on campus. that was the scariest night of my life and i still have flash backs

  • OMG I'm sooo sorry that happened 2 u guys. I am a CHRISTian and my spiritual strength was put 2 the test when all those major storms pounded the Omaha/Metro area(the place where I live). We had alot of close calls and I can remember the fear-filled prayers that I sent 2God when the tornado siren across thr street from my house went off amidst the thunder and lightning. We didn't get hit, but I was sooo scared and I'm thankful that God kept us safe.

    PRAISE THE LORD!!

  • thnx for the video i was near a tornado i am very scared of theses things and i was very sick at the time too and a week later i went to the hospital so thnx for making the video

  • lolz..

  • I was one who went to the hospital, and if I had not seen a friend's door open when I came back from dinner I would have gone to my own dorm room, in the building most hard hit. I more likely than not would have died. I thank God so much that I live and that I've learned that things on this earth are just that- things. Possessions can be replaced. I thank God we did not lose a single person.

  • God was really looking over each and every one of those Union students.

  • I am happy he did

  • GOd cares and after this video nobody can ever say He doesnt. its proo. He is loving. and he is in control!

  • god really had his hand on those union kids....by the way....u guys know danny song? he's my best friend and he worked over at the wharehouse by englewood baptist church...thank god he survived cuz his family moved but he stayed to finish college and i really thank god.....oh yeah and i got 1 thing to say.......ONLY JESUS SAVES....nuff said....

  • my sister knows him, she goes to union. this was her last year there.

  • I know him. I used to be in his fraternity.

  • my older brother was with danny during the tornado...my brother waited with danny song and matt taylor till ppl could get to them

  • thats very touching i wanna cry God gives us so many chances in life and i'm glad i survived this

  • psalms 121:1-2

I lift up my eyes to the hills from where will my help come? My help comes from the LORD who made heaven and earth.

  • Is there any spiritual discernment @ Union? Homeland Security's Michael Chertoff, a literal modern day Pharisee, laughed as he viewed the destruction of this Baptist school. He follows the Talmud which condones pedophilia & calls for the destruction of CHRISTIANITY yet Union officials apparently were clueless to Chertoff's agenda. JESUS named those like Chertoff as belonging to "the synagogue of Satan" but most of today's Christians haven't a clue as to what He meant.

  • i have to say that is just sad to seee that!

and i feel bad about them b/c there wee families who had kids die in that storm and it just makes me wanna cry!! =(

  • and how do you know people don't care about those children, how did you 'Somehow" know that there aren't THOUSANDS upon THOUSANDS of people praying for those kids and parents among with millions others, And We DO use the energy we have preventing why do you think churches around the country donate and do as much as they can to support and take care of those people.... get your facts straight!

  • wow i didn't know it was casting crowns... sounded ALOT like Todd Agnew

  • sweet vid bro

  • Very inspiring and moving. May Union University come back stronger than ever!

  • right . . . point out that no 'good x-tians died. And that is a miracle? I am sure that god reached his fucking arm through the clouds just to protect his flock . . . give me a break. this video is insulting to the people and families of people who lost their lives! When you show a school full of people all happy that they weren't hurt you belittle the memory of those who did die you misunderstanding twit.

  • You are the one who has no tolerance for anything "God".

I lived there and you offend me. These college guys have been near death and you are cussing their faith!

    LEARN TO LIVE WITH KINDNESS!!!!!!!!!!!

  • My niece is currently a student at the University and will be graduating this summer. She would like to play this video at her graduation. Is it possible to download a copy of it?

  • yes. Type -----free youtube Ipod converter--- on google.

the first link that pops up on the search, is going to show you a free software that you can download. that software is very easy to use. I use it to download youtube videos onto my computer and transfer it to my itunes.

  • Thank you. And ur right- everyone here is not a Christian. We had ppl running wild, being crazy. Sometimes listening in on conversations, you couldn't have guessed it was a Christian school. But what I've realized now is that the storm changed us all. It's made us better and stronger.

  • Whoa! AMEN!! AMEN!! That was exactly what I thought when I read that. Maybe she died for a reason. You know many families whose mothers have miscarriages and such end up in danger and disaster at some point. Maybe that's why it happens. The babies can't survive there. They barely have enough food to feed themselves. Think about all the baby's needs-diapers, food, clothes, bottles, medication, etc. How ur talkin dlfppa- I can't help but think maybe God didn't want her to grow in such things.

  • Amen.

  • Wow, talk about cry for attention.

  • Maxiestunchialeur has "problems with the way you "worship" God and bring him to a human level." and says God is something inexplicable. God was the one who sent His Son in human form to do His will on this earth. Yes, inexplicable. Throughout history God has used people who will bring Him glory. Every knee will bow, every tongue will confess Him as Lord. Some will do it with joy, other will do it with shame. God bless you Union University and go forth in joy.

  • Thank you. Exactly. What in the world? God doesn't pick out ppl?!? That's the main way He gets across to ppl. God uses ppl to reach others, if not for that Christianity would not have spread so quickly. "He doesn't pick ppl??" That's crazy. There was first Adam and Eve, then Abraham, and so on and so on. Maxestunchialeur seriously needs to read the word before she judges it.

  • I agree with maxestunchialeur!!!!!

  • I can't believe some of you ppl on here. You need Jesus seriously. You're basically questioning and insulting God and His Power. If you weren't there that night then you have no idea of what we went through. One minute, we rush into the dorms-campus looking nice. The next, we rush out-the campus was destroyed. It was nothing but the grace of God. Why say the devil did this? He doesn't have that kind of power. As a matter of fact, the Bible only mentions Satan what-3 times? His power is nothing.

  • Your organizational thought pattern is disturbing. You need to flow better. Plus I have problems with the way you "worship" God and bring him to a human level. If this ominous creator is ethereal and all-powerful, then you insult him, onecena, by insinuating that he or she specifically picks people for anything. Puritans do not exist anymore, and Calvinism basically died out. God is something inexplicable. You insult when you demean him with your "informal" words.

  • Aight, let's get down to the nitty-gritty, Maxestunchialeur. You don't attend Union. You don't know what we went through- to walk around and see the aftermath of the storm, do you? Naw, I didn't think so. Another thing, you have a problem with me worshipping God?? What am I supposed to stop or sum'n? You have completely lost ur mind if u think so b/c I'm not. People like you irk me. If you don't believe in God well then that's you. But dis girl here praises Him whenever she can. BTW, Get a life.

  • You have a tendency to take things out of context, yes? Wow. Journalism should not be your field. I like how you presume I've never been in a tornado or any other natural disaster. I did not say I had a problem with you worshiping god. I said I think it is interesting how you bring him to an informal level if he is omniscient and a creator. You need to use your critical thinking skills. I'm glad I "irk" you. You should look outside your box.Tolerance is a living concept. Some people live by it.

  • And I take things out of context??? You apparently have some serious problems. You can't blow a complete distortion of the facts by saying that you did NOT say that when it's right there above IN PRINT. DUH!It's clearly no misstatement. Arguing with you is so arduous.

  • I suppose "God" does not have correct grammatical sense, if he wanted you to make this YouTube video. You need to use "Mistaken" in the text scene where it says, "This chould be easily MISTAKED as a warzone." Plus, war zone is two words. Not one. The followers of God need to be up-to-date on this kind of stuff. PlzKThnxBye.

  • Maxestunchialeur why do you feel it necessary to correct every little statement that everyone says? That is not the point here and is totally irrelevant. However I never knew "could" was spelled "chould." Not to mention "He" is capitalized when referring to God. I suppose we all could work on our "grammatical sense" especially before we make an attempt to correct others. PlzKThnxBye.

  • Aw. This is the point. You are learning, and once you see your mistakes, you'll be able to live a better grammatical life. So when you start to look at other people's usage of incorrect grammar, you want to convert them. Does this sound familiar? I try to be subtle. I think I conquered.

    PlzKThnxBye.

  • were you a survivor of the tornado? If not, how can you possibly know what these people are going through? how can you criticize them for trusting in God, after being saved from such horrific circumstances? Your attitude is very insulting and offensive. I truly hope that someday God reaches in and changes your heart. God bless you.

  • I want to wipe my hands of you because you are a blatant hypocrite, my new acquaintance. And I dislike the fact that you condemn me in one breath then bless me in the other. I don't think that is how God wants you to behave. As you might have forgotten in your rampage, everyone in West Tennessee was a survivor of the tornadoes. They touched down in many places, not just Union University. I criticize them not for trusting in God. I do not criticize at all. You are presumptuous.

  • No God does not cause harm...but He protects His children. If you could have seen our campus first hand (no pictures or videos could do it justice) you wouldn't have believed that not a single person lost their life! God is ALL-POWERFUL! We were all crying our to Christ while we were hunckered down in the corners of our bathrooms during the storm and it was God who kept all of us alive that night!

  • Wow. Just thinking about the summer before the storm when I got the chance of a lifetime to go to Fuge camps there and stay in the dorms just amazes me. All I can tell you is this... SOMEONE or a group of people were praying that night, myself included.

  • I am a student and Union University and having survived and seen the aftermath of that horrible night I know one thing for sure. God had His hand on each of us that night. I don't know why God allows bad things to happen but I do know one thing for sure. God has used OUR Stories to spread the word about His Love and Kindness. WE ARE ALL ALIVE AND WE WILL NOT LOOSE HOPE!

God is more powerful than any force of nature or man!

  • I'll be praying for you, you really don't understand do you?

  • You don't know the word do you? God doesn't cause harm, Satan does. As for you telling people to wake up; when are you? People have allowed Satan to take over. For him, it was easy, he has so many people to do his work for him. People that are none believers; angry; and even afraid. Learn the gospel before you make comments like this. You only make a fool out of yourself.

  • "People that are none believers..." This is grammatically incorrect. You cannot use "that" when you refer to "people." It must be "who." Also you need to say "non-believers" not "none believers." This phrase does not exist. PlzKThnxBye.

  • Ok nvm about what the song is called!:P But this is sad

  • "Praise You In This Storm" by Casting Crowns

  • KK Thank u very much!

  • That is sad!!! Wat is this song called???

  • wow thanks

  • jezilinne were you drunk when you wrote that smack.

  • u r a liar jezilinne u prob just want atention but u r a frekin liar

  • And you are an illiterate so and so. This stuff happens people. Keep you head in the sand or in the clouds or where ever you mindless, Godless people stay. You see through a glass darkly, but one day you'll know....

  • MY DAUGHTER WHO IS 5 TOLD ME THE NIGHT BEFORE THIS HAPPENED THAT A TORNADO WAS GONNA KILL ALOT OF PEOPLE N THAT MOTHERS N THEIR CHILDREN WERE NEVER GONNA COME BACK I ASK HER WHERE THEY WERE GONNA GO N SHE SAID THEY'LL BE OK, THE NEXT DAY MY DAD INFORMED ME OF WHAT HAPPENED n THAT SHE WAS THE MESSENGER THOUGH THOUSAND MILES AWAY she knew...

  • That being said, old Dublin, he sure made us think didn't he? He made us see our world from a slightly different angle. And for that, I suppose we should thank him. Maybe God will be forgiving and will not damn him to the eternal fires of hell. That old dublin3000, fool that he is.

  • If your good Lord and Savior does send me to H-E double- toothpicks, I'll be sure to wear my asbestos long johns and my fire retardant jacket and hip waders! Meantime, hey, SaviorC... lighten up. We're all just trying to get by.

  • Okay...see this is why ppl should not be quick to judge. If you're gonna judge God and have disbelief, at least know a little something about the His word first. "I'll be sure to wear my asbestos long johns and my fire retardant jacket and hip waders?" You don't even know that when in hell, it's not your flesh that'll be burning. No, your soul will burn. It'll be greater times higher than man's fire. It will last eternally, you'll always "feel the burn."

  • Let me rephrase that. Lewis found Jesus.

  • Read "Mere Christianity" by C. S. Lewis. Lewis was an athiest who was converted to Christianity.

  • But please understand, the only reason Lewis converted to Christianity is because of where he was born and raised. If he had been born in Pakistan, he would have been Muslim, if he had been born in india, he would have been Hindu. People, through stress..and often times through fear...do indeed turn to religions for hope. But clear thinking, logical people see religions for what they are... Very divisive, governing bodies. You see Christianity as being the one true faith. How wrong is that?

  • Exactly true! But if he had the chance to see both as if he lived in two countries, Christianity would likely be his choice.

Is it better to keep unity or to say what is right? Answer that to yourself.

  • There is no unity through religion. The world over, I can think of no other source of such divisiveness.

Muslims think Christians are wrong and vice versa...Muslims think Jews are wrong and vice-versa...and everybody's willing to fight and die for their faiths.

It is the perfect conundrum. Because each and every faith is a lie....a fairy tale, an ancient text intended to govern much smaller populations 2000 years ago.

  • you are right is must admit, but i don't believe all religions are fairy tales

  • their not fairy tales they are true facts

  • There is no unity through religion. The world over, I can think of no other source of such divisiveness.

Muslims think Christians are wrong and vice versa...Muslims think Jews are wrong and vice-versa...and everybody's willing to fight and die for their faiths.

  • I was in the path of this storm in Marks,MS and we were blessedly,Thank You Jesus, untouched and unharmed.Always remember,it rains on the just and the unjust. Also, there are not many atheists in foxholes,or killer tornadoes.

  • There weren't many Christians in Indonesia's tsunami either. For dublin to bring this up was counter productive, in effect, he was fighting our side of the argument. The Bible says; "He who will not accept me into his heart, will not live with me for Eternity."

  • My guess is Dublin or Religionbad are giving each other the thumbs up because no right thinking person, certainly no Christian would ever give the thumbs up to their nonsense. Ours is most assuredly a loving God, but he will not think twice about punishing them for their many transgressions here and in their everyday lives. Jesus Christ is Lord! Praise his Holy name! Thank you, eternaljoyalways for putting them in their place. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

  • I think we can all breathe a great sigh of relief now that eternaljoyalways has put Dublin3000 in his place. There is only one Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Praise him. Adore him. Let he who will not open his heart, perish for all eternity!

  • I go to Union and I was in the dorms when the tornado hit. I just have to say God did protect us that night. Most of you don't go to Union and never have even been there. You won't ever understand what it is that to walk on to campus the next day and see a room that you used to hang out in, a room that you slept in, a room that was next to yours not be there anymore. Everyone is turning this it a political or religious fight. When it's about my school getting hit by a tornado.

  • Why do Muslims kill Christians and Christians kill Muslims? Why do Muslims kill Jews and Jews kill Muslims? Why, in the case of Northern Ireland, did Christians kill slightly different Christians?

Because their Holy Books make them think that they are different from one another.

This video would have us believe that Souther Baptists believe they are protected from tornadoes but muslims are not protected from tsunamis, other Christians were not protected on 9/11, or at N. Illinois University.

  • I think we are done here Dublin. I really do think it is time you moved on. Contrary to what you think We do think for ourselves. I read and interpreted my Bible freely before I joined a church. I think you truly are not happy unless you're making someone else miserable. This is my last post to you, and I hope the last from others as well. You need to move on.

  • For the record, just because I am a Christian doesn't mean it is OK to trample on my beliefs. It is not okay for you to belittle me, and you say you care for people. You're the hypocrite.

  • Sorry you feel that way eternaljoy, I guess my frustrations simply boiled over when I was trying to answer both yours and sgierlings questions at the same time. I tried peppering you with truths and facts and you kept replying with the words and beliefs from this ancient text...but you only refer to the pleasant scripture and never to the horrible, divisive, barbaric scripture. You're right. Let's move on. Thanks.

  • God Bless All of You.

    I was just testing you.

  • That is a awesome video, and a great testimonie.

  • Dublin-- You have been going on for days now. I don't have time to stick around but will check back in a little while. Who was Jesus Christ?

  • Hi jd, I'm afraid you will only take offense...but here goes. If Jesus existed at all, I believe he was no more than a David Koresh, an L. Ron Hubbard or a Joseph Smith. Please remember he lived in a time when people thought the earth was flat, he lived in a time when populations were tiny, he lived in a time when "doctors" would drill holes in your skull to let the evil spirits out. If he lived at all. How come dinosaurs are never mentioned in the bible?

  • When we were young, we all believed what we were told. We believed that Santa flew around the whole world bringing toys to everyone. We were never told that most of Asia doesn't celebrate xmas, we were never told that Pakistan, India, Iraq, Iran and so many other countries do not celebrate xmas. We believed what we were told. We're adults now. Please believe me when I tell you, my Muslim friends, my Jewish friends, my Christian friends, my non-believer friends are all the same. They all love.

  • But it is my friends, who don't believe in any of the religions, who are truly able to love people from all walks of life. Because they see them for who they are...people. People with eyes, hands, hearts, minds and emotions. People like you. Just like you. If we can do away with these Faiths that divide us, if we can stop separating ourselves from others, stop thinking that we are holier than others...then...then and only then...will we find peace. It's ours...if we can open our eyes and hearts.

  • My faith is what enables me to accept others for who they are. I do not think that I am better than anyone else just because I believe in Jesus. It is because of my faith that I see the wonderful things inside every individual. It is true I am at peace when I lay my head down at night because I know I am a Christian. You asked before what God would slay His own Son for us, and the answer is a loving God.

  • You say that we need to abolish faith, but that is not going to happen. There is truth in having faith in Jesus. Also, everyone has faith in something, whether it be in God or others. I think it is ingrained in us to find hope. You look for hope and faith in others. I do too, but I also have faith in God. You also say that you see people for what they are, don't you think there is evil in this world?

  • eternaljoy, sadly, I don't think this is true. If this were true, you and your countrymen would stop talking about the 4000 soldiers who have died in Iraq...and you'd start talking about the 400,000 Iraqis who have been killed by them. Americans are blinded into believing that the Iraqis, the muslims, are lesser human beings. 19 Americans, engineers, architects and doctors flew those planes into the towers and the pentagon. They thought they were doing the right thing by their God. Scary!

  • Stop classifying Americans into one belief. The media makes the news say whatever it wants. I do not think muslims are lesser people. I have muslim neighbors, yep, and my son plays with their daughter. Also, we knew some people on a mission trip in South America, when they were leaving the caravan they are in was attacked. They lost their lives for Jesus, and they were there in peace.

  • This is kind of what I'm saying. You say they lost their lives for Jesus and you are hitting the nail squarely on its head. They were misguided into believing that these gun-toating maniacs or knife weilding brutes wanted to be saved by them. You're right too when you say, Americans aren't all of one belief. But the latest polls suggest that you will not vote somebody into the white house unless he is a Christian. That is wrong headed. You believe that a non-Christian isn't fit to stand office.

  • I knew you were going to contort what I said. Anyway, they didn't go there to give their lives up for Jesus. It just happened. Those terrorists you're talking about had a mission to do so. As far as voting Christians into office, you know I hate talking politics, I look at all issues of each candidate and place my vote. To be honest, this next election scares me. Remember I am the one who voted against Bush 2x, and I am a Christian. Something about your Obama doesn't sit right with me.

  • Regardless of our political views Christians have the utmost respect for our brothers and sisters, that is you too. Also, as far a Jesus goes, Jews and Muslims believe that Jesus was real.

  • Jews and Muslims do believe Jesus was real. You're correct. They do not believe that he was the messiah.

Kind of divisive don't you think? To actually believe that he existed...but, nope, he wasn't the messiah.

I have to tell you, when I see Orthodox Jews at the wailing wall or Muslims bowing down in their holy mantras to Allah or Christians holding their hands up in rapturous prayer or Tom Cruise going on about Scientology ...it makes me feel very uneasy..."group think" is brainwashing.

  • Other nations, and the 1 billion muslims of the world would see Obama as a step, the tiniest step, in the right direction. Though Obama is a Christian...he is an underdog. He is a black man. Muslims see themselves as underdogs. They represent the poorest nations on earth. We would all see Obama as a change from the past...a step toward hope...a new beginning. McCain is the same old same old. You can't have the Clinton and Bush families in office for a whole generation. It is time for change.

  • Obama is not an underdog. I cannot speak for his faith. He has won almost every democratic primary. That is by definition not an underdog.

  • Hi sgierling, Obama is no longer an underdog in the Democratic primaries, you're right. He has a very good chance...now. But, for all of us on the outside looking in, he is still a long shot for the Presidency. Can your country actually take such an enormous leap of faith in a black man? After centuries of oppression? eternaljoy, Obama is not a muslim nor has he ever been. That is misinformation created by a twisted and tainted electoral system in your country. He is a Christian.

  • Dublin, what to you hope to gain from being on this blog? Are you truly interested in Christianity? Or, are you just trying to keep the pot stirred and cause division yourself? What do you hope to gain from this conversation?

  • Like John Lennon, in his song, Imagine,...like Horton in Horton Hears a Who...I would hope that somebody, a Muslim, a Mormon, A Roman Catholic, a Protestant, a Born Again, a Scientologist or Buddhist...somebody, somewhere, would hear the truth.

We are all the same. We have hearts and minds, eyes and hands, emotions, desires and love. We are not different. We are not the chosen ones. We are all just people trying to get by..but we're clouding issues dangerously with ancient, misguided beliefs.

  • Dublin, we want the same thing for each other. Your truth is not my truth. My truth is that God is much bigger than you and me. My truth is that Jesus is my Savior. My truth is that I embrace the differences in others because God has taught me love. The truth is your eyes are not wide-open. The truth is you are the misguided one. The truth is John Lennon was just a man. My truth is that God is not ancient, He is present and here today. The truth is that he wants you to get to know him.

  • The truth is God is hear today. 1 billion Muslims believe in him. And they don't believe in you.

    And vice versa.

    Good luck.

  • John Lennon was just a man.

I couldn't have said it better myself.

Mark Chapman is the Christian who shot him repeatedly until he was dead.

The truth is, you need others, your pastor for instance, to interpret the Bible for you in your Bible studies, because God didn't make it easy for you..he created an ever changing universe spanning billions of light years...but he couldn't make the Bible, his Holy Guide, understandable to all of us. It takes charlatans, liars to show us the way to heaven.

  • I never claimed Obama was a Muslim. He professes to be a Christian. I won't debate that. I believe he is ahead in the polls and could possibly win the election. I will not be voting for him because I disagree with the substance of his campaign. I am still undecided about the election. Fearmongers created the lie that he is a muslim, not the system, however broken the system may be.

  • I agree with everything you've just said, though I wish you'd vote for him. The substance is there...the American people just don't believe he will do away with the lobby groups and large corporate interests...they don't believe he will bring the troops home from a war the whole world wishes you had not entered. Americans don't believe their healthcare system can be better. You're just starting to believe how bad this subprime issue is...and all these years of resting on your laurels...in debt.

  • Did you know Obama is a Muslim? I think you could see why some people are hesitant about him because the Taliban said they would attack our country from the inside out. However, I still feel uneasy about him;there is something else that rubs me the wrong way,&I don't know what it is. Politics aside let's get back to Jesus. You asked about dinosaurs. The age old question. The only answer I have is when God created the earth, we do not know how long a day lasted. In the OT people lived 100+.

  • Sorry eternaljoy, Obama is not a muslim. He is a Christian. The earth revolves in 24 hours, the sun comes up each morning and goes down every night due to the earth's rotation. Though our rotation may be slowing somewhat...a day has always been about the same length. In many ways, we don't exist. What I mean by that is, we don't exist on any of the other planets in our solar system. Why did God create those planets and why weren't they mentioned in the bible?

  • How wrong you are about what divides America. If you know your history, it is faith that unites. Those who wish to silence Christians are the dividers. It's funny, no sad, that when Christians give glory to something other than themselves, they are attacked by those who worship only self. You say that we believe we are better than others, but you're just wrong. There is nothing in any of us that is good. We simply believe in something you don't believe in, and you find it necessary to criticize

  • I hope you will stop looking inside yourself for the answers to your questions. Many have taken that path. Stalin, Hitler, Mussolini, Mao, were all atheists. They believed that they could end religion in their countries. They attempted to do so by force and slaughtered millions. Is this the freethinking you were referring to? I am free to think what I wish and believe what I wish. That freedom does not come from the first ammendment but from God.

  • Hitler and Mussolini were both Roman Catholics. They both recited from the bible in their speeches.

  • sgierling is correct, we all have a sin nature. It is Jesus who bridges the gap between us and God. I know that there are things in the Bible that you cannot grasp like Noah's Ark. However, there is more to the message than just the ark. It is about God's love for His people, it grieves God when His people turn away from Him.

  • But I'm not criticizing. I was once a devout Christian too. But Christians believe that Muslims are wrong and Jews are wrong and Buddhists, etc. are wrong to believe in what they believe in. Why is it so difficult for all of you to understand that you are all being misled? All these religions were created in the Bronze Age, at a time when much smaller populations could be governed by their rules. The people lived in fear of their Gods. This is the 21st Century. It's time to wake up.

  • Non-believers don't worship self. On the contrary. When I look into a person's eyes, I see them for who they are. I've been married for 19 years to the woman I love and I love and respect her for not being misled by the various religions that exist. Please realize, if you were born in India, you would be Hindu, if you were born in Pakistan or Iraq, you would be Muslim. Christianity would not have found you.

  • Not true, God's message has reached those areas and there are Christians who are being killed for sharing God's message. There are also Christians who live within those borders who are living in fear of their own government because it is against the laws of the country to believe in God. Why do you think so many people are so set on ridding the world of Christianity? Because Satan is the driving force behind it all. He hates God and he wants to take as many people as he can with him.

  • Also, when Satan was trying to tempt Jesus, he used Scripture to try to sway Him. So if the devil can use God's word to mislead, then so can any evil dictator.

  • dublin3000, how can you say it was Americans that flew into those towers. The identity of those men is well publicized in international media. If you believe they were Americans, you are blinded by your hatred for God and American Christians. Furthermore, muslims have been killing non-muslims in the name of Allah for a very long time, they are wrong for it. We are simply trying to prevent it from continuing. Your pacifism will not protect you in your sacred socialist Canada.

  • Their indentities have been well publicized in international media and it is true, MANY of them had become American citizens. They had wives and kids, they lived in your neighbourhoods and went to your universities. I do not have a hatred for God. Which God would you have me hate? Most of my friends are Christians. I do not hate Americans...I miss them. Where are you?

  • sgierling, let me remind you that Canada, like the vast majority of nations, turned down the notion of going into Iraq when the UN voted it down. Nobody could understand why you wanted to fight them. Nobody believed George W about the WMDs. But Canada continues to fight alongside Americans, Brits and our other allies in Afghanistan. A war worth fighting...in a country that truly supports and protects Osama bin Laden and AlQaeda through the Taliban. We're on your side.

  • AlQaeda is still active in Iraq and the war in Iraq was never about WMD's as the media overstated it to be. It was about a dictator who blatantly ignored his own ceasefire agreement by refusing let inspectors in to back up the intelligence. The UN on numerous occasions authorized an invasion, but kept rolling the date to give him more time. Granted the war was not handled well, but that does not make the UN right. AlQaeda is being destroyed in Iraq. That's a fact.

  • While you are right on many counts. No sir, the UN NEVER authorized an invasion. They knew the US would go in like raving lunatics. The death count stands at 4000 Americans and 400,000+ Iraqis. Let me assure you, there weren't 400,000 AlQuaeda members,

AlQuaeda is predominantly in the hills and valleys between Afghanistan and Pakistan. Tora Bora. Oil is in Iraq. Lots of it.

  • Where are you getting your 400,000 number? Were these all killed by US forces? I think you had better check the stats. Regardless, I am ashamed that a video meant to honor victims of a tornado, has been used to berate Christians and the American military. My wife and I graduated from Union University, some of our friends are on staff and faculty there. I think it is time you lurked somewhere else for an opportunity to as eternaljoy said, "stir the pot."

  • I have checked the stats. Many demographers think it's as high as 600,000.

To a certain extent, I do agree with you that this is not a place to berate Christians. My original premise was this: is it not disrespectful to those who have died in other tragedies, the tsunami, 9/11, the Universioty of Northern Illinois, etc, to suggest that the students of Union were protected by the hand of God?

Regrettably, the Iraq war between Muslims and Christians has been brought up and I've been drawn in.

  • Since I didn't bring it up and you didn't bring it up, let's drop it.

Because you don't trust in God, you will never understand those of us who do. I won't try to argue what you clearly will not believe based on my arguments. I do recommend that you read for yourself not only the Bible, but other works on the subject.

I have no more time to continue this discussion and so will be logging out.

  • eternaljoy. Please, listen to what you're saying! Do you honestly believe their is a character named Satan? Does he have horns and a tail? Where does he reside? In the core of the earth? While Satan was referred to in the old testament, it was in a completely different way than we now think of "him" today. The Devil was introduced to the New testament when the Roman Catholics thought their flocks were dwindling. They could no longer hold people with God's goodness. They tried to scare people back

  • I think the devil can take on any form he wants. He can control the minds of unbelievers and cloud their vision. It is unfortunate the things the Catholic church did, it is truly sad because it has remained a stumbling block for many people. Satan resides here on earth in present day and he is the evil in this world. Not Believers!

  • Religion is entirely blinding with it's mantras. It really isn't the sharing of ideas. When I was a devout Christian, I somehow believed that John Lennon's song, Imagine, was about Christ's love for all humanity. When, in point of fact, it was Lennon's plea to the world to stop believing in religion. "Imagine there's no heaven, it's easy if you try. No Hell below us, above us only sky. Imagine all the people, living for today". Sadly, poor John was shot dead by Christian, Mark David Chapman.

  • Strange how there are over 1 billion Muslims and 2 billion Christians and they believe with all their hearts that theirs is the real God...yet, never, in the course of their prayers, their mantras, does a Muslim say to himself, "wait a minute, Allah's not my savior, Jesus is!"...and no Christian, deep in prayer, ever says, "Wait one damn minute here, Jesus isn't my Lord and Savior...Allah is!" You'd think that, surely, if either God were real...he'd find some of the folks on the other side.

  • u have free will to believe whatever you want.

your choice will be with you for eternity.

  • What has happened to a free thinking America?

You have become so fearful of intruders, so fearful of evil doers, that you can no longer function.

You can't sleep at night unless you think your God is watching over you, protecting you.

Have some damn faith in yourselves and in each other.

You were once a beacon of light, a world power and now you are totally bogged down in religious nonsense. You've lost your purpose in the world.

    Believe in yourselves.

  • dublin3000

You are hitting the nail head with every swing!

America has a problem, and it's the religious people thinking there's no life without religion! Believe me all you religious people, there is life without religion so much more actually! Your free to think, plus check it out, you save money by not paying tithings to pay for your pastors Caddy, and Lincoln, and Million Dollar Home! Believe me I have witnessed it!

  • no believe me there isnt much of a life outside of "religion" all there is sin death and an eternity in hell and you know whats funny? people always say religion like its some kind of deadly disease and it is the one thing that is worth living for

  • Freaky song.. It's amazing how christians interpretate info. in their own SPECIAL little way.Funny cuz they said other natural disasters were god's wrath poured out on sinners. They better get to the alter and start asking for forgivness then. Or praise god for punishing them??? What?? Well.. I guess you gotta do what you gotta do to keep the faith. Dissonance is hard I know.

  • we here at Indiana Wesleyan have been praying for you! and raising funds and donating clothes if you need anything else just let me know and i will try my hardest! but praise be to God that he helped every one of you and gave everybody a sense of direction so there was no chaos and you were all able to help one another! contact me on here if you need anything else! we are all praying for you and the community!

  • As a Union University garduate I could not be any more proud of my school and how they survived and came together to help one another. God's hand was on each one of those students to protect them and give them strength. They will each come back stronger and deeper in faith with an awesome testimony to share!!

I will continue to pary for you guys!!

  • The truth is, we're all atheists. Everybody is an atheist. In that we no longer believe in Thor or Zeus or Poseidon or any of the thousands of Gods that came before the more recent Judaeo-Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Mormon, Scientologist, etc. Gods. And, we must also recognize that no two Christians believe the same things, some take the scripture literally some don't. Some actually believe Noah rounded up 2 of every species, even though there are 200,000 known beetle species on earth!

  • It's not "god", it called nature:)

  • someday every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord

  • If you were born in India, you would believe in the Hindu God. If you were born in Pakistan or Iraq, you would believe in Allah. You believe in Jesus Christ because of where you were born or who you were colonized by. There are over 1 billion Muslims on earth. You think they are nutty. You think Hindus are nutty. But all religion is nutty. None moreso than Mormonism. Why can't we just accept a beautiful sunrise for what it is? An enormous ball of burning gases.

  • Oh man, you americans are so religious...

  • Amen! lmao! jokez im english :D!

  • some people all say "Why Union?" but many say "why not Union?" this shows how great our God is and how He protects us throughout these tragedies. We shall praise Him in the storm

  • As I have lived through the Hurricanes in Louisiana.....it is grimly reminiscent of what life has been like for us....I guess you never really understand, until it touches ur life. God help and be with u all.

  • Who sings this song

  • Casting Vrowns !!! its awesome...i went to there concert and i cried the whole time because of how powerful it was!
