Hi, my name is Alexander Harold Hersh and I reside in Johannesburg, in the Republic of South Africa. I, too, love the Baroque music by the 17th and 18th Century German Baroque composer and musician, George Friederich Handel. The 'Alla Hornpipe' aus die Wassermusik - from the 'Water Music Suite' is absolutely beautiful and exquisite, glorious and magnificent, which is a true Masterpiece! Handel's music has certainly enriched the repertoire not only of Germany but of England as well!
@TikiFoamy38 Im eighteen and I'll listen to pretty much anything going, with the exception of the commercialised pop music of today. So I'll listen to blues, rock, heavy metal, classical, funk, jazz, and much more besides, and I love all of it.
Variety is, after all, the spice of life, and the world of music is so eclectic it's difficult not to indulge in it XD
@TikiFoamy38 I agree! I was about seventeen when I began to listen to this kind of music. Of cource I could'nt tell my mates because I would be ridiculed. Patetic really, but I was young and stupid. Many years later I found out I was vastly more Iintelligent than my mates. It all made sense after that.
Me hace recordar a mi esposa.
I have to completely agree with you. And though I am a 13 year old and I do listen to pop (only foreign though) I find it annoying that people my age laugh at music as beautiful as this. It's depressing really. I love classical music and I'm a dedicated cellist. I'm glad someone else has the same views as i do :)
my school's orchestra played this song just a couple days ago and this was my favorite out of all of them. when i played this i just couldn't help but smile. (3rd chair bass btw)
I equate lovers of Handel v Bach to the Wagnerians vs the Brahmsians. (I pesonally side with Handel and Brahms, but will never dispute the greatness of the others)
@beradification What is authentic music? And what are trashy stage provocations? I still don't understand how you can compare Lady Gaga, a modern pop singer, to Handel, a classical music composer, there to completely different things. If you really want to go and annoy people by comparing and contrasting two different artists go to a Madonna video. Atleast there somewhat close.
@Jmmet15 Handel is authentic music, and lady gaga is trashy stage provocations.
I agree that they are two completely different things, which is why I said it. you are pushing at an open door, comparing artists is essential in order to separate truth from falsehood.
@Jmmet15 "Provacation" is not exacly an unknown word to most people. It is used in daily speech when the situation arises to use it (as there is no other word for it).
I haven't studied this piece yet (would love to) but I find the antiphony between violins and horns simply brilliant, and the motif they share is sublime, so regal, uplifting just joyous!
I hope whoever Handel dedicated this to was happy.
