@broadside78 In America we don't put drivers in such perilous situations. We have demolition derbies, not banger racing. We go with our friends to drink some beer, which we can take coolers of, wreck some cars and have some fun. That fun doesn't include watching drivers (sometimes friends) get hauled off in an ambulance or hearse.

@freetickeys Though people do get injured (far less than if you was doin motorcross or similar) deaths are very rare. there has been only around six deaths in banger racing since the 60's, and hundreds of people race every weekend in the uk. these cars are well reinforced around the driver area, and it rarely gives way.

Our cars fold up alot easyer in some of the hits because we are only aloud to strengthen the drivers compartment. Youre trying to win a lapped race so you get less time on the track and a lower chance of survival lol. Nice Video. I was Right there on the fence when the yank took that post out at Firecracker. Almost got a bolt through my head! Shame Arena Essex is gone now, redeveloped for flats or something. In my opinion it was the best track with the best racers. No fatalities (as far as I'm aware) and a good catch fence (from Donington I think). Yes Banger racing is dangerous, but all sports are - fir spectators as well. There are guidelines in place and they do work, Arena Essex was proof of that.

Wrong, there have been 5 drivers killed on the track that I know of for definite since the start of the 90's, plus another with brain damage after a length of the straight T-bone. You should not gloss over the dangers because they are real, and made worse by people who think that there's no such thing as a hit that is too hard.

Just out of curiosity, has anyone been killed doing this sort of racing? Seems almost suicidal/homicidal to be pile driving these guys into the walls and deliberatly going head on as fast as you can into someone. All in all, one awesome video. Well done.
