Capcom hinted at Nero being Vergils son in the DMC4 novel. Since he's a descendant of Sparda and because of his DT, I think it makes a lot more sense than him just being some random human orphan.

It was never said in the game that he is, and i doubt he is... I think hes right arm (read as Devil Bringer) contains Vergil's spirit and through it he has Sparda's power, or some of it at least. When in Devil Trigger the spirit that appears behind Nero looks abit like a combination of Vergil's DT and Nero Angelo (from DMC 1 and corrupted Vergil from DMC 3).
