Ascenders would be a good investment that would make the chore of getting up much easier!

That way you don't wear the rope up while you ascend with the gri gri, or burn a lot of energy lol. An ATC, also a cheap device, makes descending nicer too.

ATC is super duper cheap, like 25 bucks.

I think were talking the same thing with the "Mobile rope handles." Basically it grabs the rope when you pull down on it, you attach a leg loop to both of them, you step up with one, slide your other up, then step up on that one, and then slide the other one up.

Your legs are stronger than your arms! Only problem is its more money... You can always use prusik knots with leg loops, their just less re-assuring lol.

Try a throw ball next time to set your rope. Also, when you attach to lines, use a sheetbend knot or a double fisherman's for a very secure knot.

I have done this, it's called rope climbing not helicopter rappelling. Rappelling starts from the air and comes down.

I hope you know that what you did wasn't actually rappelling. You just a made a pulley system using the branch as your pulley (which is bad for the tree and the rope). Rappelling means that you are moving down a fixed line (a line that does not move), using a device (figure 8 or ATC) to creat friction while moving down the rope so that the descent can be controlled. Also, going up would be a lot easier with ascending equipment (also done on a fixed line).

The tree/rope damage will be solved in next chapter, got a second rope, fixed one, to keep the pulley steady (well an 8 acting as pulley). You've seen my first vid, the second is about using a Petzl Grigri.

But it's still using a "moving" rope, yes.

Hmm ascending equipments? I'll check that, unless you can give me some clues about them?
