He can teach like a boss as well as play. It's funny when your sitting in practice and hes just goes to town with ome sort of solo on your drum for 5 min. Blows my freaking mind everytime he does it.
This guy is crazy egotistical. He helps my schools drumline sometimes and when he saw my friend play, he said, "You sound pretty good for someone I haven't taught." sooooooo, yeah
cool. this guy used to help instruct the my schools dumline. guess i missed a helluva experience and according to the veterans still on the line, alot of pain
Gotta say that the man is one of the finest teachers that I've ever had; best hands in the land (his rudimental vocabulary is so vast, just try to stump him on anything and you won't); and he is 150% heart!!! And to boot, he's a pretty down to earth mofo who will take time with anybody to talk.......
Nick is an amazing drummer. This was his A&E piece in 1991 as well, when he was marching with Boston. His sister took 1st on Tympani in A&E in 1990 as well. a very talented family.
Nick marched a few years with SCV, then I believe with Star and then was the original solo snare for Blast!
Nick is one of the best of all time... I don't know any people who could do what he is doing at whatever age... Nick is 18 here. Jesus, what hands... glad he taught me :-)
@GreenCowboy I constantly find "quality of sound" to be the prize fans award their favorite drummer when there's really nothing objectively unique to say about their playing. Angelis is a bad-ass, though.
@GreenCowboy P.S. The rhythmic integrity of what he's playing here is fucking GREAT. You don't hear much that isn't articulate, accurate and clean. But I do get tired of guys saying, "His quality of sound is just peachy," as if "quality of sound" isn't a mostly ambiguous, subjective distinction.
I wonder what score dude got here. Seems like it should have been nice and high.
holy crap hes coming to my school tomorow...

Tell him Chad Winship says hi. He probably won't remember a random Contra player he marched with in Boston 16 years ago, but what the hell.

My best friend's dad is married to Julie...you're right, extremely talented family. Have you ever done an A&E?
brasscadet 4 years ago
No, never did. Only as Audience. I only marched one year. 91 Boston has the A&E winner for Baritone and Colorguard.
My brother marched with both of them in 90.

I've always secretly felt like Nick Angelis' playing was just slightly beneath some of the other "gods'," but this run-through is pretty impressive.

His quality of sound and straight up BALLZ is unmatched in my book.

Ain't the thing he's playing from the guys from 'Blast'? sum sort of musical which was performed on broadway?
Spanjan 4 years ago
Yes he was one of the original blast members but this was YEARS before blast was even thought of. . .

This was before Blast. He was a member of Blast also

Great solo, though it's annoying how he's bent over the drum most of the time.
