  • @ThaSweKillah Quaife differential + nice and warm semi slick tires :) Only first gear was a problem. Second already pretty good if the tires were warm.

  • @M335 I don't know exactly...because of the somewhat low temperature I think the car was making 430-440 at the crank maximum. In warmer weather with 0.2 bar less the car dyno'd 412

  • @M335 215/45 but because they are very square semi slick tires they are more like 230mm+ wide

  • How many lbs of boost does it have? I have an 850 Turbo but the Boost Gauge only goes up 3/4th of the way. I heard there was a way to manually adjust the boost, but I'm not familiar with how to do that.

  • @TwiztedAnimator this was 25-26 psi I believe, but on a big turbo and a built engine. Stock 3/4 of the way is normal. You can raise it a little manually but ideally you need to get it remapped.

    Tot hoeveel vermogen kan je het blok +- krijgen zonder de internals drastisch te hoeven veranderen, met een nog enigzins betrouwbaar blok? (Andere turbo? Remap? Uitlaat?)

    Kijkend naar het blok van een gewone t5 t.o.v. t5r; wat zijn de belangrijkste verschillen?

    Reden dat ik het hier vraag is dat ik puur aan het orienteren ben, nog niet de materie ingedoken dus.

  • @Pogost1ck Hoi, is geen verschil in het blok van de verschillende turbo 850 modellen. Je kan richting 330-340pk met een grotere turbo, intercooler, injectoren, downpipe en uitlaat. Iets meer wil nog wel -350+- maar dan moet je richting een garrett turbo gaan denken die een minder restrictieve uitlaatkant heeft. Maar garanties heb je nooit natuurlijk, het kan altijd stuk als je pech hebt maar dat zijn waardes die op zich wel haalbaar zijn met een standaard blok

  • @TwiztedAnimator Twixted's right...a remap is what you need for real power gains, but you can manually adjust the wastegate actuator on the turbo for increased/decreased boost.

  • I really don't think I got just 290hp. My T5 has 260hp stock already so only 30hp from custom software, 3" exhaust and airfilter is just not possible. The 2.4T5 is basically the same engine as the R (except injectors, bore and software) so it has the reinforced parts the 2.3 T5 has not. I have to get in on a dyno in summer but I guess it has about 330hp at least. Because I have a special software I'am running 1,3-1,55 bar depending on RPM. No way it only generates 290hp with that setting.

    The reinforced parts don't really matter as much a the turbo does. You can't make more power than your turbo supports. In your case however, you should be well over 300hp with a good chip, no question.

    A chipped R makes 320-330 so you could be in that ballpark.

  • @JCviggen1 thats what I think JC... 320-330hp is exactly what I want. For everyday driving this is way enough. Mainly because you feel like you have "endless" power because the RPM band is so wide... I hope you know what I mean. Your car however is in an other leaque than mine.... But I think you used 3 or 4 times the money and work that I did ;-)...

  • @nanth85 i would guess your car should be producing that much power. My 850 t5 is producing 320bhp and the only mods it has are a bsr opti flow exhaust, k&n 57i induction kit, a decat pipe and a custom map from a volvo specialist here in the U.K. So it would make sense if your car was that powerful.

  • I run custom software too BTW... I drive the car every day and I needed to find a middle course of power and every day use... So I guess Iam doing quite ok right now. I did 3" JT exhaust, K&N Filter, IPD tcv and custom software by volvo engineer ;-)...

  • I have big respect that you are not afraid of programming it yourself. I would never do that because I have absolutely no idea how the boost map, ignition timings work....

    How much power do you think my volvo has with the mods i wrote above? I guess I have about 330hp maybe more.

  • i guess about not more than 290. Check out my vids, mine has between 320 and 330.

    And I was afraid of running 1.5 bar in my V70 T5 (2.4l 260hp)... I guess I don't need to worry about the engine. I heard that the 2.4 T5 has the strong internals from S60/V70R...

  • turbo size is a major issue. The effeciency of a big turbo will be a lot better. 1.8 bar from a OEM 18T and the engine will definitley pre-ignite/ run lean/ burn the pistons / bend the rods ....you name it;-)

    Besides JC runs reinforced pistons.

  • I got the 2.4 T5 so I got the reinforced components from the R. I got the KKK24 turbo so it is the best solution till you get a garett for instance. I really don't think I run 290hp because it has 260hp stock. I got a friend of mine who has the 2.5T or 2.4T (I dont remember)... What I wanna say is he got a custom software from the same guy my software is from and has exhaust, airfilter, and turbo done (I think 16T) and has dynoed 290hp...

  • Nie, auf der Nordschleife brauch ich "nur" 1.4 bar ladedruck :) Habe eine 8:04 runde video online, ist mit 1.4 bar und diesem turbo.
