It's frivolous to compare JKD to MMA or any martial art for that matter. Bruce Lee said "using no way as a way". It's a system and an art. It's being an opened hand rather than a closed fist. It's a state of mind where you open yourself to new ideas, new techniques without saying you're an "MMA guy" or a "Kung Fu guy". I'm sure if Bruce was still alive he'd train extensively in BJJ and MMA techniques.

@1DemonicBebegringo I agree. Rarely do you see videos of an instructor sparring freestyle. Vunak is the exception. Boxers drill too but they are always put to the test in the ring. Sparring also brings out your weak points to improve on and how you react to being hit.

It's frivolous to compare JKD to MMA or any martial art for that matter. Bruce Lee said "using no way as a way". It's a system and an art. It's being an opened hand rather than a closed fist. It's a state of mind where you open yourself to new ideas, new techniques without saying you're an "MMA guy" or a "Kung Fu guy". I'm sure if Bruce was still alive he'd train extensively in BJJ and MMA techniques.

I really doubt Jeet Kune Do isnt a excellent martial arts style, simply because Bruce Lee created it and used it, Anyone who denies JKD denies Bruces skills. And even if he MAY lose in an MMA fight like UFC, there is know deniying he is very good, and can beat anyone in a real fight

@Rfighter7 true nobody should have to street fight or compete in mma to prove themselves. Bruce Lee did stress free sparring with gear as the closest thing to realistic combat.

jeet kune do is a fighting style based on the combined art of multiple martial arts developed by bruce lee, NO NOT THE HOLLYWOOD BRUCE THE ONE WHO CAN KILL YOU BY FLEXING. jeet kune do is literally MMA. if you want to see it applied in UFC if thats what you mean. your gonna be dissapointed. jeet kune do is DEFENSIVE style. every move you see in this video is either a provoked counter, or reaction to a potential attackers advances.

@Mr65JJBB not true bruce lee himself said jkd is not a style and its not about mixing it up it was about taking only what works for the individual bruce lees jeet kune do was mostly wing chun combined with boxing and fencing. he believed that with superior striking you could overcome any fighter even a grappler. he began to dabble in judo when he taught jessie glover his first student, and then had various trainings here and there in grappling but mostly believed in striking

@1DemonicBebegringo I agree. Rarely do you see videos of an instructor sparring freestyle. Vunak is the exception. Boxers drill too but they are always put to the test in the ring. Sparring also brings out your weak points to improve on and how you react to being hit.
