@LeeCamp2 My idea on campaign finance reform- all campaign donations are made to the Congressional Budget office overseen by a citizen watchdog committee. Capped at $1000 per person with no corporate influence and distributed evenly among all candidates by CBO.
Actually, Lee is quite incorrect. There are other parties, and it's been my experience that there are ALWAYS more than two choices on the ballot, at least at the national level (and often at the state level, too). Here in Michigan, for example, during at least the last two presidential elections, we had FIVE choices for President in November.
Seek out your alternatives! (And don't count on the fucking corporate mainstream media to inform you. They won't.)
I've watched every one of your videos in the last two days now, some more than once. Does that mean I have too much free time? Probably. Does it mean these videos are great? Absolutely. Keep up writing and ranting. You are my new favorite comedian.
@LeeCamp2 Ok. Listen. I graduated from the number-one undergraduate political science department in the United States. It doesn't all mean I'm the world's best expert, but I do understand a great deal and know an un-thought-out argument when I see one. Furthermore, I've probably spent hundreds of hours working for a third party and, in addition, I'm also very good at getting to the fundamental reasons for things, so altogether, i know this subject.
@dandooshnanoosh Anybody who has to cite their education as an argument makes me immensely sad. It means even the best educated in our country can't defend their points of view. They can only hide behind a piece of paper. You must be right, Dan, money is inculpable when it comes to our disastrous political system.
It's the way it is because everyone likes to choose "One or the other" because people like the lack of ambiguity. Good vs Evil, PC vs Mac, Female vs Male. Reality is all in the gray, but that takes understanding and sympathizing with other people, rather than demonizing those who disagree with you. And that's hard work.
A British politician (Ken Livingstone) wrote a memoir called 'If Voting Changed Anything, They'd Abolish It". Some say it was Andrew Lack of NBC who came up with the line, but whatever, there's some truth in it. Democracy doesn't mean the public decide on anything important. p.s. Ralph Nader always looks so tragic.
@bulldogger It's called representative democracy because the representatives tell you basically if you gave them power what they would do with that power if they had it.You listen to that representative, then research him to see if his past deeds match what he's saying now.If you like what you see and agree with his platform you vote for him if not and there's someone else you like better you vote for the other guy.Where we fail?We research nothing. We look in their eyes and shake their hand.
@bulldogger He seems nice or how much I would love to have a drink with someone should have no bearing on whether or not this person should lead a country. The fact that he accepts Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior should have no impact on whether I vote for you or not.And as long as it does you will continue to get shitty results like this.
This youtuber apparently doesn't understand why we have only two parties. He suspects it's because we need Campaign Finance reform, apparently. No, that's just un-thought-out. We have a two party system because it's the strategic end result of simple voting...more specifically, winner-take-all district elections. In all such situations, the need to not spoil boils down the available options to two alone.
We have one political party, two puppets with one control scheme - all our politicians get together at the anti-American CFR club. That Ralph Nader would have been arrested for attending a presidential debate with a ticket (he was surrounded by police outside the auditorium), let alone not allowing him to actually join in the debate, proves that there's a rigged system. Further, the "difference" between the two parties is over social superficialities irrelevant to actual government workings.

A better question would be: is Democracy really a good thing?
danieljliversLXXXIX 5 months ago
@danieljliversLXXXIX It's better than the corporately owned global fascism that we currently endure.

So a democracy goes against the will of the majority to install a party that nobody votes for? LOL
There is no "FALSE dichotomy". The "wings" are; egalitarianism vs. Plutocracy.
Neither party denies this, ESPECIALLY the plutocrats.
Your premise is ridiculous.

as long as people allow governments to collect taxes via (automatic) payroll deductions, voting will mean diddly.
curious, why do you mute the word 'fucking?'
