  • She was the greatest "killer" of any other artist in human history. After her, nobody can sing this song and expect to be considered better. Yes, DIVINE ONE !

  • I have goosebumps. And tears in my eyes. My god I hate that old song and she makes a work of ART out of it!! She was the most gifted singer.

  • deconstructivism followed by reconstructivism.

  • Yes quite a contrast between Dinah Washington and Sarah Vaughn...completely different arrangements - Sarah had more control of arrangements than Dinah did. But both voices are great... Sarah has a unique take on this classic.

For pure singing ability , I have to go for Sarah but my heart always goes to Dinah. It isn't being in love with 2 completely different women.

  • Dinah and Sarah both connect deeply with this song, but the emotions differ vastly.

Where Dinah was defiant, Sarah was wistful, even sweet, and only a bit "sassy."

  • Lervely flames may die........but Sarah's legacy never will for me!

  • Greatest singer who ever lived!

  • This is really very good, Nocaro. I like that Sarah added her own unique style to the song. Have you listened to Dinah Washington's version?

  • @Smalltowngal29 I'm a huge Dinah Washington fan, but when it comes to this song, I'll never get the voice of Tony Williams (Platters) out of my head.

  • es.... magia...

  • I totally agree...this is the best rendition ever...Platters is second. Just like everything Sarah did. She is just the greatest. The one who has gone the deepest. Thank you!!!

  • This post transports me away and back through time to that wonderful wonderful, and truly magic and happy spring and early summer of 2009. My unsolicited opinion to all is that you should fall in love truly, fully, and without any negative anticipation involved. You may get stuck in love, and if it's in LOVE, then what better place to be stuck? Anyway, whether it lasts forever, or just for a while, it's totally worth the experience. simon4186

  • Wow ! Real Class ! Real Soul ! Real Singer !

    GREAT Post ! Thank you.

  • Reminds me of sitting in front of the radio in the 50's listening to jazz on the radio from Chicago & i was in NYC I was 10 or 12 then.

  • Thank you for the quality and the classic version.

  • Great voice, but it sounds like she's made up a new melody. Not a fave version.

  • Not only is that intro arguably the greatest in recorded history...but this is the BEST performance of this song in all of recorded history!!! The Platters version is second.

  • @cdivo39 the platters is always no.1

  • From Sarah Vaughan to Taylor Swift...that's progress....

  • @bh5606 LOL..You are SO right!! These young so-called singers CAN'T sing a NOTE!!

  • I just realized how much influence she's had on Chaka-Just as much as Aretha,Stevie & Janis!!! Wow!!! What a SANGER!!! So Classy & Sassy!!!

  • yes sir, beautiful cover. That's a voice with soul

  • incredible interpretation...i love the first note she sings

  • The gold standard. An incomparable artist.

  • And I agree...that voice was something very special.

  • sarah has a way of making every song she does special.
