    1. Cavic is American, born in Anaheim. My cousin was actually a good friend of Cavic's roommate when he attended UC Berkley.

    2. The Serbian delegation saw the offcial FINA underwater footage and withdrew the protest because it was confirmed that Phelps won.

    3. You know nothing about swimming, the touch pad does not lie, once you touch, the clock stops, no one else can manipulate it.

    4. Cavic admitted defeat, and said it himself that the silver was beyond his own expectations.

  • @oitoy27 Phelps is a surname that comes from the British Isles. If I had to guess it, Wales is the most likely answer. Phelps common in England as well but Michael Phelps I read is of Catholic extraction: not the most friendly place for Catholics until 19th century. Ireland is another contender, but the surname is less common there and would otherwise suggest that Phelps, if Irish, would not be a native and part of the many plantations that happened there.

  • @oitoy27 Scotland is also a place where the name shows up, but the name is obviously not of Scots Gaelic origin: It would be "MacPilib." Lastly, Ellis Island was most active during the nineteenth century. Wales was largely a working class area owing to the mining industry at the time and otherwise it had 2 other industries: fishing and farming. Baltimore is a seaport & Maryland once had significant mining operations for coal. A Welshman's paradise.
