Thank you Jennalynne. I see this guy on TV sometimes. He's ridiculous. Every show is about how the Mormons are wrong. Do you see President Monson getting on TV ripping on other churches? Then why do other churches do it to the Mormon Church?
Thomas Monson does not follow Jesus, thats why he does not "rip" other churches... But look into your churchs history past... its a lot of ripping there..
See the fact of the matter is, Why fight a religion? It cannot waver the faith of the believers that KNOW it is right. But it can increase their faith. I know I challenge myself to think about what is said and then go through and remind myself why it is true. There are so many facts pointing to how true the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints really is. We do not discourage other religions. Why persecute us for something we haven't done?
If you came across evidence that showed you that the LDS church is not true, and that the Bible is the only reliable source for truth from God.. would you become a christian? Would you follow truth?
Lol! That's all you got? At least I don't generate my income off of some stupid show that probably gets no viewers!lol Have fun livin in poverty. You keep on fightin the good fight man.hahahahahaha
You are just an ignorant person who doesn't know the truth, I know he is a real prohphet. And you do not have the right to judge like that. How do you know the Pearl of Great Price is not true?? You just say it because you are jelouse of what we have and you don't.
Thomas S. Monson is speaking the truth... all men can become prophets and gods... but its only those who are righteous... men and women have that choice to be righteous... but its the dedication that they put forth into doing so is what can make them...
I am a woman and no I cannot become a prophet because I don't hold the priesthood. I can become a goddess and a priestess in the world to come if I follow God's commandments.
As far as righteousness goes, all are born with the light of Christ, but you must build on that foundation to inherit exaltation. I believe that you do work very hard to become righteous, but it isn't something you do on your own.
I like how misinterpret what the Book of Mormon actually teaches and writing it off as if it says Men and Women can become Gods. Mormon men and women are encouraged to be God-like. Strive to be like Jesus. We're taught that when we're young. We don't accept Polygamy or Racism. We have renounced it over and over again. Should the United States of America appologize for enslaving millions of blacks? Should they reimburse the millions of black families who's ancestors died in slavery?
Have they not don it? If not, they should. The LDS church practice spiritual polygamy... marrying, sealing, one dies, marry and seal to another...Mormons strive and strive to become worthy... but the ONLY way to become worthy, is faith in Jesus - saved by GRACE
Yes, the United States should appologize for slavery. They should also reimburse the millions of black families whose ancestors died in slavery! The U.S appologized for how they treated the Japanese in WWII. Many Japanese were also partially compensated for what they lost during that time. Why skip the blacks?
White also means pure. We're not racist. pure signifies clear conscience and humble and good people. We don't change skin tones. nice try.
DOCTRINE AND COVENATS 121:23-24
23 Wo unto all those that discomfort my people, and drive, and murder, and testify against them, saith the Lord of Hosts; a generation of vipers shall not escape the damnation of hell.
24 Behold, mine eyes see and know all their works, and I have in reserve a swift judgment in the season thereof, for them all;
yeah... thats also why they could not have the priesthood.. .right? Treating people differently because of anything that does not matter at all is a sin... So the LDS church lived in sin up until 1978... the true church? Nope
There won't be any apologizing ever, nor will there be a future for Born Again sects nor any of the Great and Abominable Church when the 2nd coming commences the millenium. I know in D & C the church of the Devil will burn and just like when Elijah called down fire and licked up the entire alter to ash.
To bad they wont apologize for treating people of a different skin-color differently.. If you read the Bible - you see that treating people differently over matter that does not matter - is a sin. Living in that sin (not repenting) is not a good thing. Read 1. John 3... Are you saying that christians will burn in hell? People that just trust Jesus - and does not accept the polygamist Joseph Smith as a prophet (which is done away with if you see LDS prophet not biblical) - will burn in hell?
I think that Every Knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Convess that Jesus is the Christ the Son of the Living God. I don't think Joseph Smith's role is as big as your making it. The men and women of the earth will take any good qualities they have learned in mortality and apply them to what they will be taught in the spirit world. The afterlife makes me wonder what it will be like.
23 Wo unto all those that discomfort my people, and drive, and murder, and testify against them, saith the Lord of Hosts; a generation of vipers shall not escape the damnation of hell.
24 Behold, mine eyes see and know all their works, and I have in reserve a swift judgment in the season thereof, for them all;
Was that in the original Book of commandments also? "I saw a striking contrast in the progress of the Indian people today as against that of only fifteen years ago. Truly the scales of darkness aref allign from their eyes, and they are fast becoming a white and delightsome people....For years they have been growing delightsome, and they are now becoming white and delightsome, as they were promised..."(Spencer W. Kimball, Improvement Era, Dec. 1960, pp.922-3) Its weird what LDS prophets taught
what? change a religion to conform with politics, just to garner votes? So i guess the strait and narrow is the definition of the straight, white, narrow minded male?
A Christian calling Mormons racist? YOU do realize the Southern Baptist Convention (largest baptist church in the US) was organized to fight against abolitionism? They wanted to keep slavery! So pull that beam out of your eye, you hypocrite.
No more so than any other group at the time, religious or not. For example, Abraham Lincoln vehemently opposed interracial marriage. Southern Baptists, and many other American churches didn't even allow blacks to enter their buildings, let alone become members.
The LDS Church's history shows that blacks were always allowed to join and worshiped side by side with whites. Studies showed that modern Mormons were no more racist than other people, even prior to 1978.
Besides the LDS church, no other has offered ALL human race greater blessings and potential in the hereafter. Whether you come from France, India, Africa, Samoa, etc, the LDS church teaches, and has always taught, that ALL of Gods children can recieve all that the Father has.
even prior to 1978? We are not Gods children from birth - we become Gods children as believers. From birth, we are, as the Bible tells us, children of wrath. Have you been born again? If you die tonight - would you live with God?
Yes! Even prior to 1978. The 1978 revelation had to do with priesthood holders. There have always been blacks in the church. God's promise of exaltation has always been available to ALL of his children. We believe in order to be born again that we must take upon us the name of Christ and live by his teachings to the very best of our abilities. I'm not perfect but my relationship with my Savior is my saving grace. I feel confident that I am ready to meet my maker tonight. Continued...
I say that to be born again, you have to have faith in Jesus - and out of that - flows the good works of a true believers life. Remember not to put the carriage before the horse my friend...Good works follow believers who have been born again. Being born again does not happen after you do all kinds of works. watch GRACE VS WORKS. GOd bless
The bible says in several places that we are his children, that we are his offspring. Whose to say that your interpretation of those scriptures is correct? Thus, the need for prophets and revelation and clarification. It is the TRUTH that will make us free, not the hope that we are right.
God will not choose the most brilliant or handsome or eloquent or tall or morally perfect. Time and time again, He chooses those who are willing to be HUMBLE. The savior could have been born in better places but chosed to be in a stinking manger. If you are not humble enough, you will never understand this. More revelation is given to those who are bowing their heads and on their knees. Remember the manger. The LDS church has 56,000 missionaries this year, more next year. You know this.
I have a feeling that you dont listen to the message - only post comments that is "copy - paste" - the LDS church is not true - watch and LISTEN to some more of the videos I have uploaded
Hmmmmmm....so change what you believe to be true so you can get votes???? Sounds like some candidates that are running today. Sorry, but I'd rather side with someone who is right, than someone who is just popular.
I love President Monson, he is a man chosen by God to lead us. The spirit will guide him in his choices for our church. It is sad that you think the church should renounce all those things. God Bless You!!!
He has not been chosen by God. Can you show me in NT where it says that we are supposed to have a man who is prophet like unto Moses? By the next two weeks - a show will come on that prophets (like unto moses) are done away with. Jesus is our only prophet - Hebrews 1:1-2
I'm not here to argue, I am here to bear witness to the feeling that I have in me that he is a man chosen. I'm sorry your goal is to belittle another religion. I think you need to just accept that God will judge us on our own decisions.
The bible, so many versions! I have read a few of them, it is interesting how they change so much, some books are left out some have added books, it is up a persons personal preference as to which they choose. That is what is so good about God, he loves all of us the same and regardless which version we choose.
Andreas -- I do trust the Bible and I trust the Holy Spirit (not my feelings). The Holy Spirit speaks to your heart and mind to teach and testify of truth.
I do not understand how you can criticize a religion that you know so little about. You have never read the Book of Mormon and I have not seen any proof that you read the Bible either.
I know Joseph's story, I know about the Church's early practice of polygamy, however, the Church has never been rascist.
I look up that they are there - we dont need to invent the wheel again. I dont have to massive work to see where the BOM plagiarised the Bible - when someone else has done it.. but of course we should check out what the sources says is right... read the passages from the Bible and BOM
Andreas -- You are being lead astray by others. It is a mistake to rely upon the words of others, especially when there is disagreement.
How do find the time to criticize the Book of Mormon, but do not have the time to read it for yourself? Please explain that to me? If you spent as much time reading the Book of Mormon as you do criticizing it, you would know it is true by now. Just a thought.
Why read it till I believe it? It cant be true.. vut I encourage you to test it out... If it is so true that you say - it would stand the test would it not?
How do you know it never happened? You have NEVER read it.
It did happen. The Book of Mormon is the Word of God. The people spoken of in the book are real. I know the BofM is holy scripture because I have read it, I have pondered its message, I have applied the principles taught in it to my life, and I have asked God about it. I encourage you to do the same. Please.
You should ask a historian about that...Put the BOM aside - the teachings of the LDS church is anti-biblical... Even if the BOM was true - the LDS church would not be biblical - then the scripture would conradict eachother
That I have. John Taylor - blacks are here to represent satan (journal of discourse vol 22, 304)+ (journal of discourse vol 23, 336). But watch the series on blacks and the priesthood I have uploaded - I´l post the first one as a video response here....
Have you actually read the Journal of Discourses? Do you know what they are? Or do you blindly quote them, b/c that is what someone else has told you to do?
You should know that the Journal of Discources are not Church canon and not an authoritative source of LDS doctrine.
Have not read the whole thing - of course.. But the what the JOD tells me - is so much. From christian subjects, to liberal stuff, conservative stuff, anti-christian stuff, hatred, love confusion... JOD makes it clear that the leaders of the church has not had the Holy Ghost.. they are driven by the wind of society, human ideas that change a million times
Are you a god? Is anyone os this earth god? That was from OT, it means judge in salmes where it is reffered to.... There only exists one God... that is clearly taught in the BIble
It says "god" and Jesus used it in just the way I am, to refute those who claimed Jesus could not be the Son of God. Your claim does not hold weight against Jesus' point.
I was a member of the church for over 40 years and extremely active.
I checked out many of Monson's supposedly "true" stories about himself & NONE of the facts checkout!
Especially his story told within the last two years at conference of his neighbor's son who was killed in WW11. NO ONE by that name died in WW11 from Utah.
Compare it to his first talk years ago & he gives an entirely different battle & ship!!
a mormon it makes sence and then if you feal that it is rite you go to god and you ask him in prayer with full energy of heart and you will receive an answer and you will know of the truthfullness of what you have just prayed about, if anyone ever tells you not to pray about something, and i relize that this is bold to say, but they are of the devil god asks everyone to pray in many parts of the bible to receive answers to their prayers (james 1:5) pray about it if you realy want to know
You should not believe what the LDS people over you feed you.. read James 1.5 in context... Does it tell about praying for something God has already said anything about?
Pray - talking with God - DIalog - not monolog. Praying in tounges. Being quite. Reading the Bible.. The Bible tells that the prophets are done away with (like unto Moses)(show on that coming soon) - but many LDS get a testimony of that their prophet is true...
testy -- The Bible does not teach that 'prophets are done away with..." Have you read the Bible? (I only ask b/c you comment on the Book of Mormon and you have not read it.)
LDS members gain a testimony that living Prophets are called by God, because the listen to the Spirit, which speaks to the mind and heart.
Where in Hebrews 1 does it say that God will stop speaking by prophets as he did in the past? It merely says what He has done in the past. If I spoke to you yesterday, does it mean I will not speak to you tomorrow? Think about it, please. You rely too much on what others tell you, without researching and thinking for yourself.
When Christ was on the earth, God did speak through His Son. However, Christ continued to speak to us after his mortal death (and resurrection) through his apostles. He again speaks to us through apostles
Yes - but remember that there are many prophets at the same time - and they can be everyone. Men, women, old people, young people... Speaks word of comfort etc
Why do you avoid my questions? Why do you refuse to read the Book of Mormon, and insist on attacking it? How can you speak about something you do not know anything about?
Let me know if you have any questions. Also, I would be interested in what you think about it. Read it from the beginning to end (not just selected passages chosen by your pastor).
What do you want me to watch? B/c I really don't like listening to this guy. I don't feel the Spirit when he speaks and I do not find him to be credible.
Wouldn't Paul be considered a prophet? I mean he spoke for Christ. He helped run Christ's church. He wrote scripture and spoke with authority. He was called to lead by a vision but he never actually knew Christ. He never heard the words of Christ firsthand. So why are his words any more important than the popes, or a preachers? The only answer I can come up with is that he was a prophet... after Jesus.
Yes - he was a prophet (but in NT kind of way - not the OT way that are done away with....). He was an apostle.. Watch the episode on "LDS prophets not biblical"
Honostly anybody who reads these posts and is looking for information on the mormon church do not read this bogus crap that testskriftene is giving you he/she is not a mormon and believes what his pastor or minister who is not a mormon tells him, so if your looking to learn about the LDS church go to an LDS church on sunday or talk to an LDS member, if you want to know something about a church you go straight to the source, if i want to learn about the baptist church ill go to a baptist not.....
Hey bud...again you are wrong. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints believe that Jesus Christ is the Savior of mankind. He is the head of the Church. If you have a problem with any of the Church's doctrine then I suggest that you talk to Him about it. Trust in Christ. Pray in Faith, believing that you will receive an answer.
When your doctrine go against the Bible - Gods word - we dont need to pray about something false.... I would not pray about if I should lie, the Bible says not to lie.... Encourage you to watch some more of the videos I have posted. God bless
Of course we pray... who would not.. But, to pray and wait to receive feelings that say somethings is true that go against Gods word - you should be careful
No one has asked you to "pray and wait to receive feelings that say something is true that go against Gods word." I do not know why people insist that Mormons rely upon 'feelings.' You apparently have confused feelings with the Spirit. They are not the same. The Spirit will speak to your mind AND your heart.
(continued) christ set the example and it says in almost every book in the New Testament that we are commanded to be baptised and most people thing that its just a Ritual ITS NOT if christ commands you to do it you do it and make sure you get it done by the proper authority one who can trace there priesthood back to jesus christ himself not one who went to college to get it. DO some research and stop following the foolish teachings of past teachers in your church.
Do some research on Joseph Smith and the so-called receiving ordinances - like much of his other claims - they changed... Dont always take what the LDS church feed you for good fish
I have done some research on Joseph Smith. And I have concluded that he was a good guy and Prophet of God.
I do not "take what the LDS church feed you for good fish" The LDS church encourages us not to just accept what we are told but to study it out in our minds and pray and ask God. (See Moroni 10:3-5).
Josepht Smith did not deny "the black [sic] the priesthood." This statement leads me to believe that you do not know what the priesthood is. If you would like to learn more about the priesthood, please let me know.
Also, yes, I have read that Joseph practiced polygamy.
Did you know that he practiced polyandry? (taking already married women, and marrying them...) Familysearch(dot)org gives you the answers... I would say that polyandry is a sin.. and Joseph clearly never repented of that sin - he lived in it.. Read 1. John 3
if you dont know by now the bible is not perfect, and president monson will not change anything because of what the "natural man" will say our church is run by God and Jesus Christ not like the other churches which run there church by the "natural man" modern day revelation still exist's and you are not saved by grace or faith read the bible once in a while and you will find that out, to enter into the kingdom of god you must be baptised of the water and of the spirit. chrsit set the exmple....
Watch the episode on "Baptism 1 of 2" and 2 of 2... Baptism is not needed for salvation - although it is a great thing to do when a man becomes a believer
"We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost."
You can anonymously ask any of these questions there and get solid answers. If you're comfortable enough with it (at not cost to you) you can request a full-time (also Norway)representative visit your home and give all the clarifications you need. Not bash, but help you find answers and show you other tools God has given us to help us "KNOW" what the truth is. Our spiritual knowledge doesn't have to be limited to addition. There is so much more! :0)
ok...let's run with that. How then do YOU know the Bible is God's word and not some guy's fabrication so he can manipulate your mind? How do YOU know YOU'RE not being manipulated? How do YOU gauge what the truth is?
The Bible is trustworthy unlike the book of mormon for ex.. Historically, the Bible does not contradict itself, logic, and of course faith... How can I be manipulated when I test things according to the Bible..
The Bible alone will support any belief that any church wants to support anywhere.
Catholics claim they've tested the truth of the bible and all else are lost, Protestants - the same, Baptists - the same. So what makes your way right and them wrong? What makes their test and interpretation less correct than yours? You don't agree with them, but you all believe the Bible is all of Gods word. Why? God doesn't love us a much as he loved the people in the Bible? Why doesn't he speak today?
Don't just take what Shawn says as truth. Study the other side as well.
Test the Book of Mormon, Test Moroni's Challenge (Moroni 10: 3-5). What are you afraid of?
If you're not even willing to read and pray about the Book of Mormon for yourself, then there is nothing more I can say. We will just have to agree to disagree.
I use the Bible too. The Book of Mormon enhances my understanding and appreciation of the Bible. It's more beautiful than you know. I want to share that with you.
I have studied the other side, went to mormon meetings, read some in the book of "Teachings by the church presidents" - by Spencer W. Kimball - and the things inside it is FAR WORSE than what I hear mormons admit.
I was called by God to witness to mormons long before I knew about heart of the matter (the show Shawn has)
He does speak today... to people and trough his word. Yes, God loves the people on earth, also his children - that is why he sent his son, to die, so that those who believe in Him, should not go to hell. The issue of baptist etc... I believe true baptists are saved, as well as me(luth.) Catholic religion is almost like mormonism - puts man before Jesus... ("prophet" and "pope") - and that is unbiblical. But there may be mormons and catholics that are saved - see the false teaching of LDS/cathol.
If the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was a Mathematical institution, you are asking me to explain(in a few short sentences) how to understand a Calculus equation when your knowledge is limited to addition and subtraction. If you sincerely want to know the correct solution to the formula and understand how you got there, I encourage you to visit mormon dot org and LDS dot org...
the mormon websites is more spin than any other... sorry (of course I have visited them). I have also attended LDS meeting and religions institute or something... (dont know the english word for it...)
ive seen this guy a million times and it just makes me sick to my stomach....!!!!!
i dont have a testiomony of my church's history, but a testimony of my church...whats wrong with that
and the deification of man is nothing new...the thought a matter of fact is a christian teaching....us as LDS are not the ones who just started talking about deification of man..GET THAT THROUGH YOUR HEAD
Sorry - I read the Bible - nothing about us becoming gods there (I guess thats what you are talking about..). You should get that doctrine out of our head. You dont need a testimony of the LDS history - the conclusion is that many of the early LDS prophets lived in sin (polygamy etc).. Read 1. John... They could not have known Jesus - therefore not saved by the blood of Jesus
We, Mormons, do believe that everybody is saved through grace, but we have another concept called exaltation. That is determined by works.
Just humor me with this:
The definition of damnation is a halting or stopping of progression, yes? If so, then should we not have any chance of eternal progression, are we not all damned regardless of Christ's atonement to begin with?
I'm interested to hear your response. I mean no ill feelings towards you; I'm just curious as to how you perceive this.
Satan tried to become a god - just as you are trying to now. Eternal progression - not biblical. The only ones that are saved by grace is the ones that truly have faith in Jesus - and dont think they have to "do extra works" to be saved - that takes the glory away from Jesus. I hope you will watch some more videos I have posted - and we can continue to talk like this - you seem like a honest mormon - that dont want to "trash-talk" me or anyone else questioning the LDS church
I try to be as open about my thoughts on religion as possible. I have no desire to trash-talk anybody. I'd rather simply agree to disagree and keep it civil. I know far too many hot-headed Mormons, and it's disappointing to see them bicker with other people, because then that becomes the stereotypical view of us.
I will always do my best to follow Christ. I think you're a very neat guy. While we may have our differences, from what I've seen of you and your videos, they are well-intended, and it's good that you're spreading Christianity.
All I know is that at the last great day, I intend to stand on the Lord's side, and I will continue to pray, read scripture, listen to the Holy Spirit, and follow my conscience and moral values to do so.
The difference between Satan and eternal progression though is that it's all made possible through Christ's atonement, so the glory is all still His, and how much greater would be His glory to not only save all of humanity, but to also exalt them eternally. Just a bit more food for thought. Satan wanted instant glory, not progression. He also wanted to remove free agency from the picture, whereas we all, under God's plan, have the right to choose.
Belay that. I found something that I think accurately states my opinion on the matter. Go to "fairmormon org" and search "Infinite regress of Gods". The first result is the page to which I wish to direct you. When you read it, stance #1 is the position I take, whereas stance #2 is the position you take. Reading that page helped me better understand why you believe what you do, and it does make a lot of sense.
testskriftene, the presidents didn't teach pgmy was necessary for exaltation - only being sealed to your spouse. Who wouldn't want to live with their loved ones after this life? Also, the law of the land allows you to marry again after your spouse dies.
Thank you Jennalynne. I see this guy on TV sometimes. He's ridiculous. Every show is about how the Mormons are wrong. Do you see President Monson getting on TV ripping on other churches? Then why do other churches do it to the Mormon Church?

yeah... thats also why they could not have the priesthood.. .right? Treating people differently because of anything that does not matter at all is a sin... So the LDS church lived in sin up until 1978... the true church? Nope
testskriftene 3 years ago
There won't be any apologizing ever, nor will there be a future for Born Again sects nor any of the Great and Abominable Church when the 2nd coming commences the millenium. I know in D & C the church of the Devil will burn and just like when Elijah called down fire and licked up the entire alter to ash.
GodLovedJosephSmith 3 years ago
To bad they wont apologize for treating people of a different skin-color differently.. If you read the Bible - you see that treating people differently over matter that does not matter - is a sin. Living in that sin (not repenting) is not a good thing. Read 1. John 3... Are you saying that christians will burn in hell? People that just trust Jesus - and does not accept the polygamist Joseph Smith as a prophet (which is done away with if you see LDS prophet not biblical) - will burn in hell?
testskriftene 3 years ago
I think that Every Knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Convess that Jesus is the Christ the Son of the Living God. I don't think Joseph Smith's role is as big as your making it. The men and women of the earth will take any good qualities they have learned in mortality and apply them to what they will be taught in the spirit world. The afterlife makes me wonder what it will be like.

A Christian calling Mormons racist? YOU do realize the Southern Baptist Convention (largest baptist church in the US) was organized to fight against abolitionism? They wanted to keep slavery! So pull that beam out of your eye, you hypocrite.
bytebear 3 years ago
I´m not Southern Baptist... but you admit that the LDS church was racist?
testskriftene 3 years ago
No more so than any other group at the time, religious or not. For example, Abraham Lincoln vehemently opposed interracial marriage. Southern Baptists, and many other American churches didn't even allow blacks to enter their buildings, let alone become members.
The LDS Church's history shows that blacks were always allowed to join and worshiped side by side with whites. Studies showed that modern Mormons were no more racist than other people, even prior to 1978.
bytebear 3 years ago
Besides the LDS church, no other has offered ALL human race greater blessings and potential in the hereafter. Whether you come from France, India, Africa, Samoa, etc, the LDS church teaches, and has always taught, that ALL of Gods children can recieve all that the Father has.
uhp100 3 years ago
even prior to 1978? We are not Gods children from birth - we become Gods children as believers. From birth, we are, as the Bible tells us, children of wrath. Have you been born again? If you die tonight - would you live with God?
testskriftene 3 years ago
Continued...
uhp100 3 years ago
I say that to be born again, you have to have faith in Jesus - and out of that - flows the good works of a true believers life. Remember not to put the carriage before the horse my friend...Good works follow believers who have been born again. Being born again does not happen after you do all kinds of works. watch GRACE VS WORKS. GOd bless
testskriftene 3 years ago
The bible says in several places that we are his children, that we are his offspring. Whose to say that your interpretation of those scriptures is correct? Thus, the need for prophets and revelation and clarification. It is the TRUTH that will make us free, not the hope that we are right.
uhp100 3 years ago
Can you send me the references? Because all I can read in the Bible is that believers are his children...
testskriftene 3 years ago
God will not choose the most brilliant or handsome or eloquent or tall or morally perfect. Time and time again, He chooses those who are willing to be HUMBLE. The savior could have been born in better places but chosed to be in a stinking manger. If you are not humble enough, you will never understand this. More revelation is given to those who are bowing their heads and on their knees. Remember the manger. The LDS church has 56,000 missionaries this year, more next year. You know this.

I love President Monson, he is a man chosen by God to lead us. The spirit will guide him in his choices for our church. It is sad that you think the church should renounce all those things. God Bless You!!!
funinidaho 3 years ago 2
He has not been chosen by God. Can you show me in NT where it says that we are supposed to have a man who is prophet like unto Moses? By the next two weeks - a show will come on that prophets (like unto moses) are done away with. Jesus is our only prophet - Hebrews 1:1-2
testskriftene 3 years ago
I'm not here to argue, I am here to bear witness to the feeling that I have in me that he is a man chosen. I'm sorry your goal is to belittle another religion. I think you need to just accept that God will judge us on our own decisions.
funinidaho 3 years ago 2
I want you to trust the Bible - not your feelings - and also show the untold (for most mormons) story of Joseph, polygamy , racism etc...
testskriftene 3 years ago
The bible, so many versions! I have read a few of them, it is interesting how they change so much, some books are left out some have added books, it is up a persons personal preference as to which they choose. That is what is so good about God, he loves all of us the same and regardless which version we choose.
funinidaho 3 years ago
Andreas -- I do trust the Bible and I trust the Holy Spirit (not my feelings). The Holy Spirit speaks to your heart and mind to teach and testify of truth.
I do not understand how you can criticize a religion that you know so little about. You have never read the Book of Mormon and I have not seen any proof that you read the Bible either.
I know Joseph's story, I know about the Church's early practice of polygamy, however, the Church has never been rascist.
ScottsdaleStylee 3 years ago 2

testskriftene 3 years ago
Andreas -- Why don't you research these claims for yourself, rather than relying upon what other people say?
ScottsdaleStylee 3 years ago 2
I look up that they are there - we dont need to invent the wheel again. I dont have to massive work to see where the BOM plagiarised the Bible - when someone else has done it.. but of course we should check out what the sources says is right... read the passages from the Bible and BOM
testskriftene 3 years ago
Andreas -- You are being lead astray by others. It is a mistake to rely upon the words of others, especially when there is disagreement.
How do find the time to criticize the Book of Mormon, but do not have the time to read it for yourself? Please explain that to me? If you spent as much time reading the Book of Mormon as you do criticizing it, you would know it is true by now. Just a thought.
ScottsdaleStylee 3 years ago
Why read it till I believe it? It cant be true.. vut I encourage you to test it out... If it is so true that you say - it would stand the test would it not?
testskriftene 3 years ago
Why can't it be true? How can you even claim this? You have not read it, remember.
What test are you referring to?
ScottsdaleStylee 3 years ago
Why read a science fiction book and pray that it is true? Its all made up - it never happened....
testskriftene 3 years ago
How do you know it never happened? You have NEVER read it.
It did happen. The Book of Mormon is the Word of God. The people spoken of in the book are real. I know the BofM is holy scripture because I have read it, I have pondered its message, I have applied the principles taught in it to my life, and I have asked God about it. I encourage you to do the same. Please.
ScottsdaleStylee 3 years ago 2
You should ask a historian about that...Put the BOM aside - the teachings of the LDS church is anti-biblical... Even if the BOM was true - the LDS church would not be biblical - then the scripture would conradict eachother
testskriftene 3 years ago
Testy -- Did you forget that the LDS church reads and follows the Bible? That is a ridiculous assertion. Have you even read the Bible?
Please stop criticizing the BofM until you have actually read it and compared it to the Bible!!!
ScottsdaleStylee 3 years ago 2
Please stop making unfounded claims regarding racism, without researching the underlying circumstancs and facts for yourself.

a mormon it makes sence and then if you feal that it is rite you go to god and you ask him in prayer with full energy of heart and you will receive an answer and you will know of the truthfullness of what you have just prayed about, if anyone ever tells you not to pray about something, and i relize that this is bold to say, but they are of the devil god asks everyone to pray in many parts of the bible to receive answers to their prayers (james 1:5) pray about it if you realy want to know
cuzin09 3 years ago 3
You should not believe what the LDS people over you feed you.. read James 1.5 in context... Does it tell about praying for something God has already said anything about?
testskriftene 3 years ago
Read the Bible in context and you discover that it continually counsels us to pray.
ScottsdaleStylee 3 years ago
But is the feeling you get superior to what the Bible tells? (yes, I pray a lot... it has nothing to do with that)
testskriftene 3 years ago
What do you mean by "feeling"? And what do you mean by "what the Bible tells"?
I am glad you pray, but do you listen?
ScottsdaleStylee 3 years ago
Pray - talking with God - DIalog - not monolog. Praying in tounges. Being quite. Reading the Bible.. The Bible tells that the prophets are done away with (like unto Moses)(show on that coming soon) - but many LDS get a testimony of that their prophet is true...
testskriftene 3 years ago
testy -- The Bible does not teach that 'prophets are done away with..." Have you read the Bible? (I only ask b/c you comment on the Book of Mormon and you have not read it.)
LDS members gain a testimony that living Prophets are called by God, because the listen to the Spirit, which speaks to the mind and heart.
ScottsdaleStylee 3 years ago
where does it say that we are supposed to have a prophet like unto moses? (From NT)

God has established a pattern of calling Prophets throughout every dispension to call people to repentance and teach them of Jesus Christ.

Hebrews 1. 1;2
testskriftene 3 years ago
God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
Exactly! God speaks to his children through prophets. He has also sent His son and spoke to His children through Him.
ScottsdaleStylee 3 years ago 2

testskriftene 3 years ago
Where in Hebrews 1 does it say that God will stop speaking by prophets as he did in the past? It merely says what He has done in the past. If I spoke to you yesterday, does it mean I will not speak to you tomorrow? Think about it, please. You rely too much on what others tell you, without researching and thinking for yourself.
ScottsdaleStylee 3 years ago

Wouldn't Paul be considered a prophet? I mean he spoke for Christ. He helped run Christ's church. He wrote scripture and spoke with authority. He was called to lead by a vision but he never actually knew Christ. He never heard the words of Christ firsthand. So why are his words any more important than the popes, or a preachers? The only answer I can come up with is that he was a prophet... after Jesus.

testskriftene,
ok...let's run with that. How then do YOU know the Bible is God's word and not some guy's fabrication so he can manipulate your mind? How do YOU know YOU'RE not being manipulated? How do YOU gauge what the truth is?
sam21114 3 years ago
The Bible is trustworthy unlike the book of mormon for ex.. Historically, the Bible does not contradict itself, logic, and of course faith... How can I be manipulated when I test things according to the Bible..
testskriftene 3 years ago
The Bible alone will support any belief that any church wants to support anywhere.
Catholics claim they've tested the truth of the bible and all else are lost, Protestants - the same, Baptists - the same. So what makes your way right and them wrong? What makes their test and interpretation less correct than yours? You don't agree with them, but you all believe the Bible is all of Gods word. Why? God doesn't love us a much as he loved the people in the Bible? Why doesn't he speak today?
sam21114 3 years ago
Don't just take what Shawn says as truth. Study the other side as well.
Test the Book of Mormon, Test Moroni's Challenge (Moroni 10: 3-5). What are you afraid of?
If you're not even willing to read and pray about the Book of Mormon for yourself, then there is nothing more I can say. We will just have to agree to disagree.
I use the Bible too. The Book of Mormon enhances my understanding and appreciation of the Bible. It's more beautiful than you know. I want to share that with you.
sam21114 3 years ago
I have studied the other side, went to mormon meetings, read some in the book of "Teachings by the church presidents" - by Spencer W. Kimball - and the things inside it is FAR WORSE than what I hear mormons admit.
I was called by God to witness to mormons long before I knew about heart of the matter (the show Shawn has)
testskriftene 3 years ago
He does speak today... to people and trough his word. Yes, God loves the people on earth, also his children - that is why he sent his son, to die, so that those who believe in Him, should not go to hell. The issue of baptist etc... I believe true baptists are saved, as well as me(luth.) Catholic religion is almost like mormonism - puts man before Jesus... ("prophet" and "pope") - and that is unbiblical. But there may be mormons and catholics that are saved - see the false teaching of LDS/cathol.

Sorry - I read the Bible - nothing about us becoming gods there (I guess thats what you are talking about..). You should get that doctrine out of our head. You dont need a testimony of the LDS history - the conclusion is that many of the early LDS prophets lived in sin (polygamy etc).. Read 1. John... They could not have known Jesus - therefore not saved by the blood of Jesus
testskriftene 3 years ago
*your - not our :-)

Testskriftene,
Nothing about us becoming gods? Are you sure?
St. John 10:34 (kjv)"Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?
vs 35: "If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken.
It's important that we not only believe in Christ, but that we also believe him when he speaks.
sam21114 3 years ago
So, are you a god? Is anyone on this planet a god? No. Jesus is stating scripture from OT - read it, gods meant "judges" in OT in that scripture....
testskriftene 3 years ago

How can anyone become gods, when God said that there exists only one God, there is none before, none after and none beside.... Food for thought :-)

Do you have a reference for that? I'd like to read it in context, so as to better form my answer.
