Without knowing all of these, you cannot make an accurate statement about evolution. Evolution starts in the DNA. Knowing the fact that you barely know what DNA does, it does not surprise me that you are so confused when it comes to evolution. To understand evolution, you can't just know that DNA has physical information.

To answer your question; The universe's entropy is always constant or increasing. However it IS possible to reduce entropy (thought the rate of entropy is accelerating more than we can stop it). There IS a system working to reduce entropy.

Without knowing all of these, you cannot make an accurate statement about evolution. Evolution starts in the DNA. Knowing the fact that you barely know what DNA does, it does not surprise me that you are so confused when it comes to evolution. To understand evolution, you can't just know that DNA has physical information.

Base pair substitutions are chemical changes that occur in DNA. These are when nucleotide sequences are changed from the previous generation. They are mutations passed onto offspring. The changing of species occurs over millions of years, not in one generations. @kingseho As for the appendix. It used to be an organ (similar to the stomach) used to process foods that are no longer common in our diet (bacterial high foods, herbs, and grass). Now explain the coccyx, the tonsils, the wisdom teeth, and how some people have an extra set of ribs akin to other apes.

@kingseho It IS NOT used for convenience AT ALL! A closed system is a specifically a system where ONLY energy (kinetic and heat) can transfer out and not matter. To answer your question; The universe's entropy is always constant or increasing. However it IS possible to reduce entropy (thought the rate of entropy is accelerating more than we can stop it). There IS a system working to reduce entropy.

Then again, this must be hard to imagine for someone who believes God created the earth in 7 days, eh? The universe, pre-quantum theory, was believed to be a closed system. You make a telescope that can look at light at the moment it leaves the star, and then maybe we can observe some light that is not literally from billions of years ago. And the mass is locked up in the stars, and we're observing the dust of novae.

@kingseho The scientific method is proof by empiricism. Evidence must be objective and measurable. Principles of reasoning, namely mathematics, must be used to justify postulates and theories. Scientific method is not; I don't see it, therefore I'm right.

I can probably bike down to the biology department on the other side of the campus and pull up a list for you. And yes, two of the three above (inherited immunity not included) were proven in an open field lab.

@kingseho A species does not miraculously change into another species. Gradual changes over time so that a species can no longer reproduce with each other is what defines an evolutionary process.
