Garab Rinpoche is a ngagpa- a yogi-Rinpoche, not a monk- and proud of it ;)
That's why he has hair and wears white.
His lineage runs in the family (therefore it would even be difficult to be a monk ;) ):
his grandfather is His Holiness Dudjom Rinpoche (Jigdral Yeshe Dorje) and his father is Dungsey Thinley Norbu Rinpoche
