I can relate to your frustration! Some fabrics are actually woven "off grain"; also, some fabrics are treated for soil-resistance, leaving a coating the prevents the fabric from being squared-up. Could you describe your project for me?
I'm still having trouble with some of my fabrics. I find the straight grain, but the fabric doesn't line up on the selvedge. I tried to square it by pulling but then it goes out at the cross grain and vice versa if I pull it in the opposite side. It's driving me mad and I haven't made any more stuff because of it.
I'm glad this video has helped you. It's not always necessary to go to this length to find the straight of grain, but it is important when making curtains and garments where "proper drape" is essential. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.
You have no idea what this video has done for me! Very well made, and right on time. I am at a point where I am contemplating quiting, and I really don't want to. Thanks again, and I will be subscribing.
