  • interesting setup, *freinded

  • very nice,very ridge racer !

  • great throwback

    thx I really enjoyed this

  • Killer! Thanks.

  • I love that sound, Keep up the good work.

  • Dude sweet man. My bude has the Mc 909, then i got the Mc808. Dame this machine is as detailed as my Adobe Photoshop.

  • Very good stuff man. I'm running a 505 myself, and of course reason 4.0 and a kp3

  • that was dope!

  • sorry, not 555. i only have a 505.

  • that's a very practical thing to know but i never tried that and i no longer have the kp3 so i can't try it out. maybe there's some midi editing you can do to the kp3 and the 505 to make that possible...like making the midi cc of the sampling button of the kp3 to match that of the start record button in the 505?

  • nice music.

i was wondering, can you start playback of a pattern and the record sample of kp3 using one button(either machine) via midi. i am looking at a kp3 for recording patterns from my sp-555 and i could sync the kp3 from my sp-505. any suggestions?

  • Great movie :)

  • wow!

I wish I was able to do it. Very good tune. Keep up the good work.

  • yo jspraya. i can't do a vid on the hook up now as i've changed my set up (see my latest vid). the 808 is the midi master so it's midi out from the 808 to the kp3 midi in, then kp3 midi thru to the korg er midi in. The 808 is programmed to use its internal midi clock, and the kp3/ER are switched to external midi clock. Hope that helps.

  • holy shit that looks like the cockpit to the millennium falcon or somethin

    props on that

  • awesome!

did you use onboard 808 drums or they are too sampled from other source?

  • the drums are sampled from Reason. tks!

  • how much mony for the hole set that he has and where can you find this stuff love this thing.

  • lol. nic vid, I like your style.

  • you should produce background music for Porno's dude!

  • LOL

  • lol; provided i get a free visitor pass to the set as well!

  • lol!

    and great music too!

    amazing!

  • HAHAHAHA

  • Thanx for posting your video. I adore your music and work

  • Amazing

  • beautiful...

  • Wow...I just use FL Studio to compose music...ur leet! :D

  • good job m8. I love the feel of the mood.

  • btw do you like the nord lead series ive been checking out some videos of it and it's pretty much the richest virtual that i've ever heard

  • I've been programming the micron to do lead sequences, chord riffs and basslines. Must say that it's not really that great at bass sounds. Just bought a MFB synth lite from Berlin for bass/leads, arriving anytime soon :-)) I had a nord 2 before, pretty good, but am saving up for a virus or an alesis andromeda.

  • i've watched some demos of the andromeda but for some reason the nords make me giddy as hell. i think it's just my taste in voices.

i was disappointed in my microns low end problem too but now i run it through a guitar amp with the presence and bass knobs turned up and it makes a huge difference

  • mate, keep an eye /ear out for dave smith's prophet 08. nice good value analog synth

  • Where's the Micron? Sell out :-*(

  • I've been abusing the Micron, dude. Hope to get some vids out soon. Working on material to build up to a 1-hour live act.

  • lol abusing the micron ey? what would be really cool is if you used the equipment in this video for the back ground and just played a completely non repetitive keyboard riff on the micron. that's what i would do but i havent had any lessons yet

  • Wicked tune man!

  • fat sound man, great stuff

  • Back Again...... Cool Stuff!

  • merci tre bon continuer

  • merci, mercure. surtout heureux d'avoir plaisi quelqun francais. je changera mes pieces musicales, vais retourner avec des tracks nouveaux. salut!

  • this is really great stuff. Nice quality sounds, too

  • Nice mix. Haev to say I find rolands filters on there cheaper end gear very steppy and a bit harsh.

Saying that I love the quality of roland effects, mysp808 has a great effects section.

I have owned kaoss pads but find the reverbs and other effects too low quality. I find the kaoss pad a gimmick and am yet to see any body on youtube do anything good with them that you couldn't do in a conventional way.

  • Thanks. u r right about the quality of korg/roland fx. But given the price & target market, I'm not surprised. Unless they're pros, bedroom DJs can get pretty broke from vinyl digging habits. The kaoss pad's strength is not the quality of the sounds but the immediacy & fun factor of its interface. If not, we have to spend 5x as much to buy a Lexicon/TC Elctronics fx box & a Korg Padkontrol & program them to work like the kaoss pad. For smooth filters, check out the Jomox M-Resonator.

  • Cool video. I have a KP3 that i intended to use as my main sampler but it painfully slow at loading up samples that it's just not worth it. I'm keeping it for the effects, but i'm looking at getting either an MPC1000 or the MC808 to cover the sampling.. All that really matters to me is which is quicker and more versatile. I need to be able to quickly access lots of samples for live shows. Thanks man.. I appreciate you putting up all the videos to show what the stuff's capable of.

  • Hi guys, thanks for all your comments. My PC's not coping well with my software set up so I'm eyeing an MPC1000 to do the sequencing side of things. Have to say bye to my MC808 soon, for the cash to buy the MPC....sob...sob. I'm one of those who started off using hardware so it's a bit hard to convert to software. Must be my age...

  • I feel the same way man, I started making toons back in '93 using ARP, Sequential, Roland and Cubase1.0 for sequencing. All that is history, now I can only use table top machines or other hardware, I can't get into software synths. I appreciate the idea, and applaud it, but it's not for me.

  • it sounds like trip hop, doesn't it ? i like it

  • Thats some kick ass sequencing .KP3 is very interesting

I use softsynths, Rebirth, Reason ,ect and hardware but in different context. But Im a Guitar Midi Synthisis. And I am starting to catch on to whats going on! thanks!

  • Cool set Up Man ,I have a KP3 on the way to me now , but i plan to use it with Hip-hop to help come up with stuff thats sounds different from all the other hip hop, I An MPC , Korg triton , Mixer , midi keyboard , (hardware) along fruity loops and Sonar ... --- Bad idea to get the KP3 ???--

  • Hi, JSpraya. I had an MPC and Korg Triton before. They do not have the live feel of the KP3 for effects although you can set the controllers to control certain effect parameters. KP3 does well at BPM-synced effects and its "live" capability. Can certainly do some pseudo-scratching, dropping samples/hits and voice effects during live hip-hop.

  • thats some serious kit there bro. loving the sound

  • nice

  • Like the gear dude. Nice slow tempo.. How do you find your 808??? i have several synths but use SX3 i want to get away from the PC sequencing and possibly do fly/live music.

I have an OB12,novation Supernova,EMX and bidding on a kaos pad 3. Is the 808 hard to master??Can i use it to trigger other synths??

  • You've got some nice gear, mogaza. The 808 is great for sample playback and tweaking on the fly, and I like its PC editor. So far no regrets, considering I've had the Akai MPC2000XL and Korg EMX before. Only problem is the display which is angled awkwardly. The 808 can trigger the MIDI clocks of other gear. I haven't tried using it to sequence other synths yet. Usually I program the riffs/patterns in the synths and then use the 808 to trigger the MIDI clocks.

  • No label will pick up this repetitive stuff. It sounds like the built in patterns to me. I certainly would not pay for it. Have enough guts to show you put the patterns in yourself. You have got a swelled head man.

  • Sorry garridan. Thanks for the comments, I'll be very careful when I talk about labels next time. I also don't need to prove anything. Sellers and owners of the Roland gear will know the loops are original. As I explained in the text included, I did the loops in Reason/Pro Tools/Gforce soft synths. Anyway, you shouldn't waste money on something you can't appreciate. Spend it on something more musical that you like. Be nice, mate.

  • Good on you for being so civil to one who isn't!

    Thanks for the music mate.

    Cheers,

    G

    (a musician, I proclaim ;)

  • well put. cheers

  • A-List Records, Accidental Music,

    Acidfanatic Music,Acix Recordings, Additive Records,

AiRecords, Alfa Matrix, All Around The World, Ambulatore, Anjunabeats, Antiopic, Ant-Zen, Aqualoop Records, Arena Rock Recording Co., Artificial Bliss Recordings, Astralwerks, Asthmatic Kitty, ATIC Records

Aucourant Records,Audiobulb Records, Audio Dregs, Azuli Records.... just to name a few labels that begin with A and have PLENTYYYY of "repetitive" looping music.

  • Another thing, you sound so American. That closed mindedness and hostility you show toward omnolab is why Americans come across as arrogant idiots to Europeans, Latin Americans, and even Canadians. Well, Omnolab is from Australia, I'm from Venezuela, other that have posted congrats are from France, Russia, Brazil and the US (but broad minded Americans). Comes to prove my point! Garridan, stop giving your country a bad name and embarrasing the few cultured electronic music loving Americans.

  • Get a grip buddy.

I'm closed minded because I criticised him? Are you telling me that posting on youtube should only garner praise? Since when am I representing my country? From you I could conclude that all Venezuelans are fanatical and suffer from OCD (thanks for not listing the whole alphabet). Grow up man.If you guys like onnolab's work, send him some $ to support his craft (gear costs $). Onnolab can stand up for himself. You sir, would have a hard time handling any form of criticism.

  • Garridan, let's close this. It's not the criticism. I could say the cut between loops at the beginning is too harsh, that the entry of some top-sound loops seems off-synch, etc., but saying it nicely, encouraging improvement and wishing good luck. That would be CONSTRUCTIVE criticism. But saying things like "it's repetitive" when electronic music IS repetitive, implying that he's using the built in patterns, and that no label would want him, is DEMEANING, and SOUNDS arrogant and uncultured.

  • I actually like onnolab's groove. I just thought that some of the responses were a bit misleading(beautiful?). I'll admit I was kind of harsh on him. I checked out some of those labels. They have some smokin' artists that blow my band away! To tell you the truth, I originally logged on to find out how I could incorporate the MC808 into my studio. I guess I'm not in touch with the intended purpose of this unit.

    Keep no groovin' onnolab

    garrida123

  • Garridan...you have my respects man! I'm sure you could do some great stuff with MC808! I've seen some strong alternative stuff done with it! Rock on!

  • Hi, garridan, respect, man. If you're sussing out a groovebox of some sort to accompany guitar/rock/metal stuff, do check out the Korgs and Akais as well. Hit me up if you want more info cos I've used them before. I can understand there's nothing like having a live band who can play tight music together. I was drummer in one and a bassist in another one before :-)

  • Thanks, nelsoneas, for your feedback. You're sharp, man. I had problems synchronising the loops which were imported in wav format from PC into the MC808. Got to learn how to use the 808's sample slicer to tighten up long loops. Try BozBoz and Baroque for "repetitive" tracks too!

  • One of the most beautifull tracks I've heard recently. Is there any label I can buy your music from?

  • nikdudnik, very nice of you! Thanks! I wish a label would sign me up. But once I've got enough tracks, I may sell online or send them to some labels. Cheers!

  • Are you guys for real? It's the same thing over and over. Try playing that on a real instrument and change the key, even the chords. All I hear are two chords back and forth. I'm a musician and I know you can do more than two chords on those things.

  • Thanks guys for the encouragement. Will be making more soon. Too bad I'm into electronic dance music, which usually has few chords put in repetitive riffs, sequences, arps, basslines, etc. If I'm a "real" musician, which I don't proclaim to be, I'd be doing a lot more. I also suck at reading notes, playing keyboard or other instruments, so be it. Different strokes for different folks! Cheers and be merry!

  • Man that was GREAT! That's something I would love to kick back to.

  • Wow, amazing track man!

  • Really nice

  • Good to see some great stuff on the MC-808. You have some nice toys. I want a Kaoss Pad 3, I'm jealous.

  • Nice track with electronic feeling like Speedy J

    MC-808 rulez !!! Good work :))
