I agree, christian has been used as a label for far too many cults, and a true, born again believer can no longer call themselves a christian without many assumptions being made about what they truly believe.

I see what you are saying, but personally I'm Honored to be called a christian in the context of what it has stood for for centries "Jesus" I've always beieived that christian simply means Christlike. Of course we are sinners saved by Grace but to be determined in heart and mind to be like Christ is the most noble and excellent calling. Therefore, I am forever a Christian in the true sence of it's meaning.

I understand fully what you mean when you say "i am not a Christian" but i think you could word it differently. You should say "I am not RELIGIOUS" which is what i say over here in the Philippines and it shocks people greatly but i make it clear that I will not give a religious title to my faith in Christ.
As for calling myself a Christian, which means "Christ like," I am speaking about the imputed righteousness of Christ...His own righteousness given to me as a gift.
Look at Luke 9:44-45 and note what is called "the gospel" in the book of Luke is not the good news we are told (via our RISEN Saviour thru the Apostle Paul) to preach now that we are in the dispensation of mystery. If you note the disciples didn't understand Christ would die for our sins and be raised for our justification! God makes this all clear if we only BELIEVE - we need to understand WHY the Apostle Paul was saved as Apostle to the gentiles. 2 Tim 2:7 and 2 Tim 2:15 are ignored by most
(cont) BTW - I'm agreeing with most of what you are saying...I'm just wondering if you've been shown that there are about 8 gospels in the scriptures. The point being you NEED to rightly divide the word of truth/the gospel of your salvation from other gospels (good news messages). It's imperative to read it as it's written, to whom it's written, for the purpose of it's being written. ALL scripture is necessary...all of it is FOR us, it's just not all directly TO us. That is religions mistake!
