  • is it possible to turn any Access Point into a Access Point Client, if so can LG-Nortel ELO WR100T 108Mbps 802.11g Wireless LAN/Firewall Access Point & 4-Port Router be one

  • does this work on the ps3??

  • does this work for a different type of router?

  • my naber gave me the exact same router for free

  • @koolaidman97i what's naber? what noise does a horse make? spell it

  • this is the most confusing method evar... just plug the xbox into a laptop thats wirlessly connected through ethernet. , then just diable ur firewall on ur laptop and ur good to go...

  • does anyone know how to use the ipod touch as one?

  • @deserteagle449 ipod touch will not work , xbox does not have drivers to be able to use ipod as an ad hoc network adapter.

  • @Guacatechs It is possible, not an ad-hoc network, but USB tethering

  • @deserteagle449 you cant

  • can i buy this in a store

  • @24codfan Maybe, its kind of rare now, when this tutorial was made, this AP client was readily available at Fry's, usually on sale for about $20. It may still be available online, I would not pay more than $30 for it. There are routers that can be flashed to DDWRT that will do the same thing for that price, and D-Link makes a travel router for $50 that does the same thing as well.

  • does the router hav to be hooked up to xbox too or jst the computer?

  • I know you can use your laptop but obviously with my whole family using it, i can't move it up in my room just for my self

  • Hi lol sorry. I found this product for a great price on Amazon.com. Guess I don't have a question for you yet then :)

  • Hello. I cannot seem to find this access point anywhere. Not on ebay, fry's, walmart, bestbuy, nowhere. Is it no longer available or could you let me know where I can find it please?

  • Whats ironic that you would use a laptop that costs like 700$ and say that a Xbox live adaptor is expensive. Lol

  • @CocoCheap no so ironic, many people have laptops and nettops that are underused, by using such a device as an ad hoc wifi adapter, they are maximizing the utility of their portable computers. I do agree that it would make no sense to buy a laptop for the sole porpuse of using it as a wifi adapter, or even to purchase a ap client for more than 50 dollars.

  • @Guacatechs I know about the underused part, just speaking my thoughts (:

  • @CocoCheap lol you think a 700$ is expensive?

  • @SheGotsTigOBitties Well everyone has a opinion, and 700 is average :P. I have a 1800 dollar computer, would you consider that expensive -___-.

  • @CocoCheap No, not really.

  • @ThatWasRuffies Well then you must be a another spoiled kid.

  • @CocoCheap I'm 23 and have a good paying job...

  • @ThatWasRuffies Ok and your arguing about a month old comment that referred to my opinion of money. I'm 13 years old where you gonna find a boy like that :|. I'll let you to your job...

  • would this work for the ps3?????

  • ya ps3 has wireless built in i jus got a xbox and i pay the same amount but no wifi????

  • i have an airlink usb would that work as well?

  • @buttcheekbandit no, the xbox does not have drivers for any USB dongles other than the official ones.

  • @Guacatechs dongles.. lool

  • @mitchbanks1 i know,right?

  • @buttcheekbandit unfortunately no, Xbox does not support non microsoft usb dongles.

  • @Guacatechs Heh,heh,heh. Dongle

  • FUCK!!! I thought the xbox 360 would of brought a built in wifi and have free mership for XBL!!! WHAT THE FUCK!! MIROSHIT IS PISSING ME OFF THIS TIME!!!!!!

  • when i try to pulll it up in the internet explorer it says it cannot connect to it why is this??

  • @smstnsn make sure the AP is the only thing connected to the ethernet port, and enter the address on any browser, it will work,

  • My modem is a router all in one. It's a regular modem with a build-in router. Its cool :)

  • YEEEEEAAAAAAH

  • And to think I thought it was garbage and tossed it into the garage years ago(2). Thanks a million and I remember the crappy instuctions. They just confused me so thanks again.

  • Worked just fine for my comp.

  • I want to do the same thing but only for my computer.. Is the process the same????? Please let me know....

  • or you could just get a ps3 with built in wifi

  • true, if you can , but these devices are meant for people who are not as fortunate and may have bought this device or something similar on sale. this AP client was on sale for under $20 at Fry's for a long time, many people bought it, but may not realize its full potential.

  • is it possible to connect this AP directly to a wireless router without passing through LAN?

  • I saw a netgear wireless router on bestbuy for 39.99

  • how far does this adapter reach?

  • lol u just gacve away ur ip and soem1 can easily hack u

  • do some research on valid IP ranges, the IP on the videos are fake.

  • It wasnt the external IP dbag

  • @troygreenfilms whats a dbag?

  • There are no known USB adapters that will work with the xbox, other than the official one

  • Dude if i use a usb network adapter will it work?

  • Dude, this product is discontinued. That's what it says on the website. :)

  • Hiya Mate, Great Video Was just wondering, Would i be able to do this with a Netgear Router instead of the Airlink?

i have one lying around, and so it'd be handy as anything ;)

Also, understandable that the connection won't be quite as good as when using the Adapter, but is the difference substantial?

    Thanks Again, love the ingenuity!

  • If your netgear does not have this functionality built in, you have to check the DDWRT compatibility list, firmware compatibility varies by model and revision

  • A big thanks for this video. I picked this router up at Fry's for 12.00 and threw it in a cabinet for a rainy day. I chipped my son's Xbox (non 360) to use as a media extender in his room and I had been using an expensive Airport Express for an AP Client. I tried this router and was not able to get it working in AP mode and your video cleared up a step I was missing. Thanks again!

    Jeff

  • They only cost 49.99 now!

  • is this the them to the ballad of gay tony?

  • no, see minute 4:40 . i only use music from independent artists

  • does this work with any wireless adapter because I got a D-Link wireless adapter for a ps2 and original xbox laying around but I couldn't get it to work. I thought it was because it wasn't the 360 one.

  • yes this is a bit of a technical video, if you don't want to go that far, amazon or ebay has them for maybe 10 more dollars, i dont know if they are used or not, but i am going to buy one off of there. check them out, it's easy, free shipping, all that good stuff.

  • when i go to write down the information such as my ip address from my xbox in network connections everything is filled in with zeros

  • write down your IP information only when the xbox is hard wired to your main router, and you are able to connect to xbox live. all zeros means you are not connected. you only need to write down and imput a manual IP into the AP client only if your xbox is not able to resolve an IP address

  • You do know that u can get an orgional xbox wireless adapter of of amazon for only 40 bucks right? it works preatty well, just sayin if someone doesnt wanna do all the technical stuff u could just pay 40 bucks for that. It works well for me

  • i no your password admin

  • good, that tells me your where paying attention, but what you may not realize is that admin is the default password for many routers, it is up to the individual to change it to something more personal, as i have done.

  • Does a wireless-G Broadband Router work at all for this?

  • depends on the make and model, wrt54g and d 300 can be flashed with DDWRT to get a similar feature , check out my wrt54g video

  • From what I understand of your video the net result is the Xbox 360 has a wired connection to wireless access point which wirelessly connects from access point to a wireless router and from there out to internet.

I have this configuration working with a PC but if I substitute the the PC with an Xbox 360 it doesn't work i.e. the network test on the Xbox fails. I am using a TP-Link TL-WA601G access point and Linksys WRT54G router.

Anything I need to be aware of?

  • the xbox 360 can be a bit of a pain when it comes to selecting a dynamic IP. if your wireless bridge runs on a pc but not on an xbox , set the IP on the xbox manually, just find out IP range and dns settings from your main router and choose an IP that is not being used.

  • SHIT! i thought i found an alternative for that 200$ wireless adaptor cuz i had a linksys router the exact needed model but my parents gave it away for free FUCK

  • does it have to be this specific router or can it be a different one?

  • there are other wireless routers known to work with the xbox 360. a little googliing doesn't hurt anyone :).

  • this is the cheapest AP client around, AP client are usually more expensive than routers. Other options include the original xbox wireless adapter, linksys wrt54g routers flashed with ddwrt, and d link dir 300 routers flashed with ddwrt.

  • are there any other routers that anyone knows of that are easily setup?

  • You realize without a wireless adapter, the 360 and router can't send signals back and forth.

  • my videos will be up soon on how to build your own 360 after it has got the rings of death like mine did 6 months back.

i have had a new and improved version of the 360 and i call it 360.2 beta, it has no problems, it plays every game i get and it has not ever crashed.

  • lol i bought mine sometime last year and i've never had a single problem with it. (i even removed the case)

  • it wont let me because the ip codes have to be inbetween 255-0.

  • the ap431w is NOT a router, it is an AP CLIENT, and ap client can be connected to the xbox and it will act as a wireless adapter, you still need a separate wireless router. dd-wrt is a firmware that can be used on other actual routers to give them the AP client feature that is native of the ap431w. Access points are usually more expensive than routers, so moding a router to this feature saves you money.

  • Sometime's when i get a permission i can take the TV to the Wireless router, so i just take a lan cable from the Router and connect it to the Xbox360

The whole point of this is NOT i repeat NOT to have any wires at this project!!

The whole video ISN'T i repeat ISN'T making any sense!!

    PART-2

    2/2(Last)

  • Haha, YOU shoud first read my comment and then comment. The Video doesn't helps at all cause the Point is not to have any wires at this Project, so tell that someone else.......fag

  • There WAS NO OTHER COMMENT you retard. Look: YOU don't understand. Yes, the point of the video is to get WIRLESS internet access. The xBox 360 DOES NOT OFFER THIS without an ADAPTER. Some people are apparently too POOR or CHEAP to BUY ONE. So they FEEL like IMPROVISING. In THIS CASE by hacking a WIRELESS ROUTER! But the WIRELESS router has to be plugged in with a WIRE!

Why do people have to be so thick headed?

  • Dude, i'm telling you in PEACE that your wrong!

There is a easy way to connect without a wire. All you need is lan-cable and a pc/laptop that has a wireless option. 1. Connect the cable to your pc/laptop.

    2. Connect the other end to the Xbox

    3. You have to goto Connections and then to properties of your Wireless connection. Then goto exeptions and then you'll see a Xbox connection. Just tick the Box to allow it. Then goto properties again and tick "allow other people to connect trough this" Thx.

  • Thats what I Just SAID! Thats what the stupid VIDEO JUST SAID!

Your first comment made it sound like you didn't know what a laptop was, and now you are an expert.

  • just because u have money dosent mean the rest of us do so dont call people poor or cheap u rich basterd may bee some of us dont have money and 12 360s in case u havent noticed we r in a crisis right now so dont be showing off ur green bitch

  • Excuse me, but watch your big mouth. What makes you think I'm rich? I've got an old xBox and an eight year old laptop. Not twelve, eleven, or even one xBox 360 or money to blow on whatever you're talking about. Yes, I have noticed we are in a crisis right now. I'm not showing off any green bitches, whatever that means.

    Just calm down, Li'l Pardner!

  • Hey, i didn't get it?

My problem is that the Xbox+TV is in a different room,

but i can't take the TV+Xbox to the "Wireless router"

And what you showed in the Video is wierd:

    1. If i have the abbillity to connect the wireless router directly to the Xbox360, then why should i set-up all this stuff?

I just need to connect a lan cable from the Router to the Xbox360, that's all.

    PART-1

  • oh god i really do not want to shell 100 bucks for a wireless adaptor... what can i look for on the box of routers to tell if they can be AP clients? (or whatever it is that lets them connect to points not send them)

  • you have options, you could try to look for an original xbox wireless adapter, you could look for access points, AP will often work as clients , or you could look at the list for dd-wrt for routers that can be reflashed to enable the ap client feature.

  • Super inexpensive way to get wifi on the 360 is the ZyXEL P-330W. Its a $30 router that can be set to a bridge mode to connect to your main router.

  • ur stupid. the point in having wirless is to not have wires running through ur house. i dont want to have to run a ethernet wire from my router to my room..

  • dude i got a question. At my house thre is a library that is like 600ft or less away and was wondering if my wireless live adapter would work? my laptop can get wireless from somewhere and was wondering if ir would work. also if u can, tell me how to increase the range of the adapter. PLEASE MESSAGE ME BACK!!!!!!!

  • ummm no... wireless could barely even work if it was across the street...

    Id prefer buying linksys

  • Hey is this the reciver ir do it give out the internet

  • I just want to say thank you for sharing this tutorial. Excellent...

  • You are very welcome, I love to be able to share the joys of wireless xbox 360 gaming for about the price of a supreme pizza.

  • hey is there a wayy to expand the ps3's wifi?

cuz i got a connection thas pretty close to my house but my ps3 cant reach it. so is there a wayy? like maybee hooking up a router to it an put it close to the connection? -thx

  • this router mod is not xbox specific, if you get a ap431w or another router moded with dd-wrt on AP client mode, you can use the AP client as a wireless adapter, just attach it to the ethernet port, and set network settings on the console to automatic. My AP431w has been used successfully with xbox,xbox360,PS2, and Imac G4. these access points are far more powerful transmitters than USB dongles or built in wifi adapters, giving you better range.

  • o

aright. i have a spare netgear router.. can i follow ur software steps and configure it with dd-wrt on AP client mode and hook that up to my ps3 via ethernet port?

    will that work?

    -thx

  • check the dd-wrt compatibility list, it will show the version of dd-wrt that you need and the process of updating firmware. the airlink that i used does not need dd-wrt because the factory firmware allows AP client.

  • This might be cool, but I'm happy with my $35 gaming adapter. Its simple. It connects to my existing wireless network and anything with an Ethernet port can hook up to it via Ethernet cord. So basically I can use my 360 in any room within range.

  • gaming adapter works good, either old xbox adapter or pelican, but the old xbox adapter is hard to find and the pelican costs almost as much as the official 360 wireless, this mod is more for those tinkerers that want to spend under $20

  • I didn't have to pay $100 for my wireless adapter

  • Who gives a fuck?

  • i was just saying..

  • So after setting up the router to your existing router you will not need to hook anything up to your xbox 360?

  • after this cheap router is set to AP client and configured to your LAN router, your home gateway, you will not need to connect a cable to the gateway router, just connect the AP client to the xbox 360 and the connection should be wireless. this is a similar setup to the original black xbox wireless adapter, but without the price.

  • nice one but i dont get it i didnt see anything about wifi from this your just telling me how to set up that router and wire it to the 360...

  • what more do you want? instead of spending $100 buying the microsoft usb wifi adapter, you can get this cheap router instead and use it as an AP client, essentially a substitute wireless adapter. Once this router is running in AP client mode and set up for your wireless LAN, you do not need to run a cable to the router form the xbox360, and with better range than the official usb adapter. Do you understand the advantage of this now?

  • yer i remembered just after u r using the router as a wifi adapter thanks i forgot

  • you had me worried for a second
