I'm not a civil servant, I'm 18 and at my school's sixth form, so actually nobody works more closely with teachers than I do and it's one of the most difficult jobs out there and everything that can be done for teachers to improve standards should be done and the more money invested in our schools the better!You seem to hate just about ANYBODY mentioned- MPs, teachers, binmen, shelfstakers, union leaders

He can't go to university, and so earns a hard day's wage at Tesco's. Have you tried doing that? May be harder than you think. Then he wants to do better, so he joins the Post Office, wants to do better so works his way up the union trying to help other workers. He wants to do better so he becomes an MP to help his locals.

That's why Tony Blair wanted him for Education Secretary, because he understood what real schools were like. At 11 he passed the 11+ examination which is an IQ test proving that he must have some measure of natural ability. You don't get to high positions by being unintelligent, you get there through hard work, common sense and ability. Just to sort of join the debate...I thought Britain was supposed to be a meritocracy?? If so then I think that whether you agree with his ideas or not (which I do incidentally) then we should recognise that he represents this idea and we should be proud that social mobility exists. I have been lucky with my education going to a grammar school, but it's not a public/private school and the idea that someone can succeed on talent alone gives me faith in this country.
