Raging Bull is the most overrated movie of all time and Scorsese is the most overrated movie director of all time. Neither this movie nor Scorsese deserved to win an Academy Award for this
How did it happen THIS didn't win best picture? The Departed didn't deserve the Oscar as Raging bull did. This is definitely one of the best movies ever made. Even if maybe I prefer Taxi driver to Raging bull, this one is pure art - and this opening scene makes my eyes weep every single time.
Thirty-plus years one, to me, this still stands as probably the greatest film since Citizen Kane. Truly a great work of art. And that final scene - I'm weeping like five-year-old every freakin' time I see the movie; never fails.
I agree. This is the best opening title sequence ever and I assure you I am not a huge fan of Martin Scorcese. But this movie really gets me emotional at the end. Fantastic movie!

One of the best?....the best.
I'm waiting for the day Scorsese will morph with Joel and Ethan and make the ultimate film.
