NBA 2k9 without a doubt. It's probably the best sports game ever made. But just rent both, and judge for yourself. Maybe you like Live (which is a good game).
I don't know about 09 but every live game i have played was the same, i got bored easily, i tried 2k9 this year and i love it, its allways a challenge, i still haven't mastered the controlls, there's so many features, and moves ... but like roketamayu said, try renting both and see for yourself
