I am not teaching a specific technique. I tend towards a more relaxed and natural technique. I am no exprt of years and years of harp playing as to be able to discuss in any detail the varieties of Schools of Harp methods and techniques from the past 'masters,' but I try to suggest a more ergonomic and efficient movement and playing which results in productive pain free injury free playing .
I'm from Harp Circle, and am so happy to say that I AM a beginner working on these very exercises. It's incredibly helpful to watch/learn proper technique while playing along with you. An added benefit are your verbal explanations, tips, and cues. I want to thank you for taking the time to be so generous. This is making such a big difference in my playing, and I suspect others' as well! I am looking forward to continuing with your other videos as I progress. All the Best to you Catherine.
I am glad to help if I can. There is still nothing like a Teacher regularly when you begin to correct the needed things as they see you progress. I was lucky as an adult beginner to start with a teacher My first year, then I have had two others in the past 4 years.
That was great, Catherine. I played it through and then took the laptop into the room with the harp and watched it again using the harp and the Grossi book. I had to go through it a couple of times before I understood it all- but you made it easy to understand. I even learned some Italian. This makes doing exercises much more sensible- seeing how it should sound and look is a tremendous help. I'm looking forward to the next step already.
Hi Catherine! Thank you for your nice explanation and demonstration! I am using these exercices as a warm up, already, but it is sooo good to see how the hands need to be placed and replaced! I'll be following your tutorials to come with great interest!
Ohh....I've nightmares about this book. My harpteacher is getting none enough to harass me with this book! But oke, you learn, however, the correct technique with Grossie. Which is really necessary for good harpplay.
what technique do you teach?
