continued:...I don't care about Hayne's politics. All I saw was an engaging presentation of results on the harms of a nasty pesticide. Save your judgement - you're clearly a jerk with just a little too much time on his hands. I will not be viewing your reply (an instant delete in my inbox) -- So find a hobby....
Ghettoloser: thanks for the unwarranted indictment of public ed. In the teaching world, we call a different take on presentation "differentiated instruction". While Feynman might be useful in a physics class; I was researching material for a presentation SPECIFICALLY on pesticides and their effects.
If you view Hayne's rap as "disrespectful" to a public school audience; you clearly have not spent much time around teenagers - trying to get a 17 or 18 year old to be receptive is not easy.see next
Mr Hayes should read about "Fela Kuti" (wiki has a page on him), an African musician (quit medicine for music). Fela spoke out about Western interference in Africa, Western oil firms stealing Nigeria's oil wealth, the corrupt Nigerian govrnt, army, etc. He mocked Nigerian soldiers in a song called "Zombie". For that, they beat him & killed his mother.
Fela Kuti was a real black man - he made great music with a political message, unlike rap, its foul language, violence, & obsession with money.
This guy has lost my interest. In e-mails that have been released, he writes about Tupac, "thuglife", drug pushers, pimps - as if this is what ALL BLACKS come from. He then boasts about his wealth & expensive home, & that his kids attend expensive "white" private schools.
He seems obsessed with the image of a poor, downtrodden, oppressed black man that made it in spite of us "mighty whiteys" trying to keep him in the ghetto.
US black rap has NOTHING to do with black people generally.
@silvercityassasin, so, you'll be showing kids how to be unprofessional, how to show complete contempt for their audience? Sounds good! No wonder our political system is so dysfunctional - teachers are teaching kids nothing of value, least of all respect for others.
Why don't you google "richard feynman" and "vega", instead, and watch a few lectures by one of the greatest theoretical physicists that ever lived. Feyman shows how to be entertaining AND professional.
big up to the hayes

P.S. my students enjoyed the video as part of a larger presentation & it stimulated a productive conversation of local pesticide use & effects.

I live in Louisville, Clay County Illinois.
We are an agricultural community that has the highest level per capita of cancer.
Everyone has it. We have giant hog factories and huge fields of corn and we die!
