  • Wow, I just had my headphones on and....man.. everyone click @ 1:06 ... is it me or two seconds later he smoothly slides his finger over the fourth string as he releases it, and accidentally (maybe not) gets a long lasting very high pitched... like lost harmonic that gently scratches your eardrum. it's so AWESOME!

  • @iVanHalen666 ha ha ha....heard it too, it is an awsome song all the way through.

  • what's the tuning?

  • Peter Ciluzzi .....Peter Ciluzzi .....vote for Peter Ciluzzi .....vote for Peter Ciluzzi !!!vote for Peter Ciluzzi !!!vote for Peter Ciluzzi !!!vote for Peter Ciluzzi !!!vote for Peter Ciluzzi !!!

  • i really like how Peter is playing...not only this song...but a lot of his songs

  • easy now..lol

  • True that.

  • damn, that was awesome

  • This is serenading at its best. :)

  • I like the extra bass. With the loose E it fits. (I think) He makes his own guitars so he's likely a "tone freak" and the EQ/Pre-amp/mix whatever you want to call it, is likely no accident or on a "generic" setting.

Could listen to this all day through laptop speaker, good monitors, or headphones all the same!

  • I also like the bass, in fact I would go so far to say that the piece would be lacking without the walk down the E string, it just seems in this recording on occasion to be a little twangy, which I don't think would be the result of an EQ/pre-amp setting at all. It's only in like 3-4 places where the piece builds and that low note needs to be louder, but it still twangs to much for what I personally would care for in a lullaby. That being said I think it is a lovely piece of music.

  • Sometimes what makes a great musician is that he or she breaks certain rules or cliches of a genre to broaden and give a uniqe and personal touch.

  • I am trying to learn this song. I know that the 6th string is tuned to A but does anyone know what the rest of the strings are tuned to? i really would like to learn this song its awesome!!!!!!! if anyone can tell me what tuning its in that would be great thanks =)!

  • A A D F# A d that is right off of his CD booklet

  • I love it, but Peter if you're reading I think the bass is bit harsh on the low E (or whatever you have it tuned to). It's definitely important, but with the guitar that you make it has plenty of low end... so a little bit of bass goes a long way in a lullaby. Just the way I would play it as a musician, but the writing is masterful!

  • I did agree that the bass is a little harsh at points, not all the time, but this is why music is an art, to each their own taste =)

  • Good point taktarsri. I think it's funny how a fellow musicians comments get voted negative simply because he was trying to help. For all I know it could've been the recording and not his guitar playing at all. It was just a personal observation in saying that I don't think the twang necessarily fits within the lullaby genre.

  • I would agree that his style is excellent and unique, where did I ever say he was bad? In fact I recall, oh yes allow your eyes to glance up for a moment and read me saying "I love it". And forgive me for being traditional in my theory, it was how I was taught... but your post was rude and uncalled for.

  • I just started bawling while listening to this.

  • very appropriate title... but i must note this song's bizarre tuning.

  • peter if you go to heaven when you die you are going to be a guitarrist of god,. you are so bleesed and im looking up to you, i want to be like you, your music makes me feel happy whenever im mad, and it makes me feel like i dont exist like im just flying but the only thing i can hear,it is your music thank you and keep doing your beautiful songs

  • I like his music

  • soo amazing.

  • hehe thx @ werxx

i only have got an acoustic guitar in normal tuning (EADGBE) and i looked with the normal tuning after the tuning he has got.

awesome song, want to create something like this =)

  • this guy is my idol... not just because i like his music but because he is a luthier just like i want to be ... i can go on his website for hours and read about how he builds his own guitars. keep rocking man

  • ne1 here a self taught guitarist?

if so give me some tips on wat to study to make solos like that!! ne1 pleeeeeeeeeaaaaase

  • I dunno, this guy sounds schooled, he has a very mature style. What I'd say about making a solo guitar tune that is evocative as this... a good way is to write the piece away from the guitar, come back to the guitar and play it. That way you are not stuck in the boundaries of the guitar. Make sense?

  • but dude i've heard that to b abl to play or compose solos one shud hav knowledge of scales. i know the blues scales but don't know hw to apply it thanks for the help tho

  • Well, what do you mean by solos? Solo acoustic stuff like this, or actually doing a "solo" during a song? Because for the latter, knowing your scales and some theory is great, I don't know all the details, but there's a formula for notes and chords that harmonize well together. I'm going to school for classical guitar in a few months, then I'd be able to fill you in XD

  • he sounds very technical to me. he knows where all of the natural harmonics occur, and the compositions seems to show off the (quality of the) construction of his instruments. all of this with a peaceful soul that can calm even the most savage beast.

  • everyone knows where the natural harmonics occur man 8 )

  • I'm a bassist, but that doesn't matter. Personally, I think you should find a music teacher. Best Decision I ever made. Its cool if you wanna make a hobby out of music, which your best route is to teach yourself. But if you want to make professional music and create your own music, your best route it to find a music teacher.

A music teacher gives you guidance and puts you on the right track.

  • i went to one he was more interested in making money, it's hard finding a good teacher u must b lucky, but thanks for the help neway appreciate it.

  • Hey gizmo991

Gotta tell ya, I did the same though he had only play for like 3 years and he taught me like A LOT. And just in three months I had learned chords and slap and fingerstyle and the basic scales. And then he said that I should learn by myself... Still miss those classes.

  • keep your fingers on a fret board... nothing else matters.

  • A beautiful song!!! Thank you :)

  • ギターをひくのが上手ですねえ!きれいな音楽だと思いま

  • what he said...?

  • Something like "he's very skillful at playing clean music on his guitar."

  • the deepest string is A# i think.

  • it's A actually.

  • good :)

  • Fluid, nice and relaxing; kinda Claptonesque. On the whole; Enjoyable start to finnish.

  • when you say that.

I'm sure the song isn't in standard tuning

  • the lowest string seems to be tuned much lower.

In my opinion, when the amplitude increases the tension increases, and the string does get out of tune momentarely, and then goes back as the amplitude decreases, because the string is not designed to resonate at that requency.

In any case i don't mind this, it sounds good.

  • *frequency

  • your exactly right man the only way to not get that kind of blurpy sound if you strum it hard is by using a thicker gauge string which im sure he does use but even then it still will make that noise often. He is in either B flat tuning or drop A which obviously is quite lower than standard E tuning

  • That drone does seem to stand apart from the melody in an interesting way when it slips outside of the dialogue with the rest of the strings. I like it.

  • that was so nice!

    God bless you!

  • Perfect composition !!!

  • This song is testimate to the fact that music is truly the purest form of emotional expression. Well done Mr. Ciluzzi!

  • lots of people are using baritones all of the sudden. i need oneee lol

  • A lullaby for the heart. Awesome song!

  • pickups i think hes using fishmans. fishmans are good for this frestlye soudn they pick up very well. im not sure though try on candy rat maybe itll say. or go to the fishman pickup website and see if it has a roster for all product artists

  • nice :)

  • il jour bizar c tro exeptionell ^^ c assé long et assé relaxent ^^ bravo

  • Hi!

Can you tell me what kind of guitar is that, please?

Amazing, full, rich, deep sound...just beautiful!

    Wonderful playing, too!

  • He built the guitar...

  • Doesn't seem so. Just check the guitar gallery on the candyrat website.

  • Does anybody know what's the pickup set on his guitar ?

  • looks like fishman rare earth

  • yea, it does look like a fishman rare earth. but then again, lots of pickups look like that. all black and angled in the soundhole.

  • He's awesome but honestly alot of his songs kinda sound the same

  • Well done thanks for posting*****

  • Well of course he isn't Mckee, Ross or Dufour. He's Ciluzzi. Matt Santos doesn't 'fit that same mold' either, but I'm not sure that's the point.

The point is that they're all great musicians that, in their own ways and without insane processing or effects, communicate exceptional emotion through music.

  • crappy comment.

  • i love how he tunes so low and it still manages to sound good...

  • someone should really tab this out and post the link

  • why dont you try to tab it yourself?

  • ohhh!!!

  • "someone should really tab this out and post the link"

If you're technically able to play this, but not able to tab it yourself, you need to focus on ear training.

What's the way to train your ear? transcribing tunes. :) So get to it!

  • actually what we need is to have more guitarists read actual MUSIC. Problem is if you only play by ear there is so much that you do not have access to.

  • "if you only play by ear there is so much that you do not have access to"

This is true. However, there are many great musicians who can't read. If you can't play by ear, you don't even qualify as a musician. Music is first and foremost about sound. Most of the early Jazz greats played entirely by ear. That's not to say that reading has no value, but *hearing* is what it's all about, it's fundamental.

  • tru that, but when you start talking about getting gigs, it is a drag when someone can't play the song unless you rehease it with him first. Also Reading music ties into theory and not understanding theory also limits you.

  • theory and reading are tools for communicating between musicians, it makes things more efficient. It's much easier to tell someone you're jamming in D minor than to let them figure out what you're doing by ear.

  • werxx...not challenging you at all or nething, but do you have credibility in saying that andy doesn't know any theory? just curious. it'd be an interesting fact to know if he didn't..but i know there's many great musicians that dont know theory so i wouldnt be surprised.

  • Saying Andy doesn't know a thing about theory is absolutely stupid: Andy writes his own tablature, and musical notation. It's all spot on, theory is absolutely essential in his line of work. Please do not say that without evidence to support a crackpot theory.

  • Agreed, if you you look the way Andy plays, his music is fairly structured(even though it is freestyle guitar). Shows signs of Theory.

  • OR... there's this thing. Called "NOT PIRATING"!!!

Go to the candyrat site, dish out a couple bucks, and get the official, accurate tabs that support the artist.

  • This is the only artist on Candyrat that I don't quite dig. Talented though.

  • he looks so happy when he hits those harmonics, lol. great song, it really is a lullaby =]

  • I think this is probably my favorite piece by Ciluzzi. It's just... wow.

  • Very nice soothing and restful. I love the easy soft feel of this.

    Peace,

    Allen

  • incredibly emotional and great, but doesn't most of his music kinda sound the same? i mean, it's not a bad thing, but i'm just saying.

  • hmmm kinda, but then again sometimes Mr. McKee's can as well, and any other artist for that matter

  • Doesn't help when it's an acoustic guitar in a particular style. Hard to change your sound when you stick to the same instrument/style/etc. Not saying there's anything wrong with it, but that's how it is.

  • that's awesome again! really like all your compositions! What's the tuning,

  • this is great but its not as good as the other stuff from candyrat records, jsut got my andy mckee CD and i dont think i will ever find anythin to match him

  • We tend to applaude our memory. When listening to music, the hardest part is to "log off" to our memory in order to discover "new" stuff....

    Its a majestic composition.

    Pascal

  • wow Qpidon. I really never ever thought of it that way. You really opened up a new understanding for me! thank you!

  • yea dude thats deep thank you, i never thought of it like that

  • Why comparing artist to try to find who's better ?

In ther 80's, people used to compare Maradona with Platini, and the soccer fan world divided into 2 groups...

Well, let leave at home all of this pointless comments about comparing artists and just sit down and listen to the music.

    That's it.

Personally, I would like to have even 1% of Peter's sound and feeling...

  • @RobertoColombo We have more than 1% we have like 100%, i'ts all from our soul he just know how to use de guitar like the 'bridge' for his own soul, and make we feel ours..

  • 11th, awesome song, really sentimental, i can feel his way of playing its like telling a story, keep em coming rpoland! cheers

  • He makes a great guitar

  • rocking stuff

  • this guy always looks so fucking pumped and happy to play, awesome song

  • true said... gets the most from it

  • Thats what it is all about!

  • I think he is amazing at making melodies, but he just plays eighth notes that get boring after a while.

  • i think thats the whole thing of this track was to be simple but deep

  • But all his songs are like that. Abyssal, Sojurn, Lament.

  • awesome

  • beautiful, i love the flow this guy always has, its so strange, can anyone please tell me what tuning this guy is in?

  • Wish I knew... all I know is that every single song that low E is tuned down insanely low, which of course makes the stupid people say "Tune your guitar!!11!"

  • Yeah I figured out that low E was tuned all the way down to A in this song. My guitar sounds crappy even when I tune it to C :P.

  • this video i great, so simple and yet so deep
