  • best video/lineup

  • awesome to see this lineup! I never knew the even did shows with both Frank and Ray on guitar!

  • Why isn't there more footage on them during the early 80's?

  • hung out with and saw them 1st time they came to nyc right after milo goes to college,me and my friends actually sung our own version of der weinerschnitzel called bojangles ( after the fried chicken place by the chelsea hotel ) with them as the opener !!!!!!! 83' ? !

  • 4:39 tony goes into crowd haha

  • I feel so sorry for the poor bastards that did not get to see this band in the 80's as it was the most badass live show to get in. I was fortunate enough to see them in ft collins at the ramskellar in 88 or 89 oh my god they killed it both times we couldnt believe that we were getting to see them. im 38 now and these were the days that defined what I became, thank god for punk

  • Horrible recording BUT GREAT FOOTAGE!

See 'em together (YES WITH MILO) at Rior Fest '11 in Chicago (Oct 6-9)

Won't be another show like it, SO DON"T MISS IT!!!!!

And NO I'm not a RF marketing hag, just been there twice and know how good it is!!!!

  • I'm 50 and remember seeing them in the early 80's at The Vex and other clubs in the So. Cal area. Glad to hear they're playing gigs. They were always one of the coolest and most under rated bands around.

  • I am 30 years old and have been faithfully listening to theDescendents for 11 years now.

Up to this point I have never seen my favorite band; theDescendents. This will change on April 7th, in Long Beach, California as they will be the main support for Bad Religion and Rise Against on Rise Against's tour!

Words cannot describe how happy and excited I am for this!

Thank you Stephan, Karl, Bill and most of all, Milo for making this show happen!!

    Cheers.

  • Anyone interested in ALL/Descendents audio/video bootleg trade? PM me.

  • This is the first time I see the band playing with two guitar players.

  • @ThiagoSNFU me to

  • whores you can't make me want.....I got all the fish I need on the deck of my boat!!!!!!

  • So good to know this shit was happening in the 80's while all around it turned to shit.

  • At Cuckoos Nest in Costa Mesa California.

  • I barely recognise them

  • que buena banda, lastima que no se entiende un carajo

awesome band, too bad i don't understand shit.

    gracias por compartir este material!!!!

  • I love Poison Idea,I love Descendents,I love DK,I love Flipper,I love JFA,I love Negative FX-fuck,it's not normal when you're 36!!!

  • @mpkpkm Yes it is. I love those bands you mentioned, and I'm older than you are.

  • @mpkpkm thats why your fucking badass ur a middle age punk rocker

  • sooo true, i wish there was a Descendents dvd.

    i would buy it for a $100

  • yeah! bad brains shirt

  • I beleive this was the first show i ever went to if it is Mi Casita in Torrance 1982 or 3?

  • The Greatest band period. For years i was playing and listening to lots of music but now that i am getting a little older(mid 20's), i find myself getting less and less interested in it. The Descendents though, i think are the one band that i will listen to alot until the day that i die. It's been a little over a year since Frank Navetta past away, RIP Frank!

  • I sadly started listening to them in 2004 when I was 13, but since the first time I listened to them I realized that they're the best punk band ever, and I listen to a lot of punk bands, including a lot of art punk of the mid 80s...

  • bad brains are the best in my opinion but the descendents are solid.

  • In the begining milo looks nervous

  • Thanks to the person that posted this. "Jean Is Dead" is probably my favorite Descendents song, but they never played it live in all of the times that I've seen them. Even one time when they were playing by request and I asked for it. Milo just gave me this sad look and said that they don't do that one anymore. This is one of the things that make them so great, they really take their music to heart.

  • Great to finally see it performed and even better following "Bikeage". I think that it's a perfect pairing and always wondered if the two were about the same girl.

  • This is the very first performance with this singer

  • what a boring crowd lol

  • Dude, Milo wearing a Bad Brains shirt is quite possibly the most awesome thing ever.

  • I don't think I've ever seen old Descendents footage where he's not wearing a bad brains shirt...

  • @TehNazz He did it last year in an Australian tour...STILL AWESOME!

  • gone are the days when bands would wear tshirts of other bands whilst performing, nowadays they all wear their own tshirts or some lame uniform dress code thing

  • you also never went to a show wearing a shirt for the band you were seeing. that would be sucking up... :)

  • i rock band t shirts all the time.......just cause you dont know the band and dont realize its a band t shirt dosnt mean im not wearing it

  • classic:) great....

  • its justs funny dmn dont cry about it,

  • I'm not jeez it's sarcasm

  • haha look at tony. he jumps into the crowd during Hey Hey.. its at 1:38.. Hahaha tony is awesome. He's really funny.

  • No he is not I have had to live with him for a month. Trust me he's my uncle

  • awesome video, thanks for posting.

are they playing the riff from Break On Through during the beginning of Catalina?

  • they do it a lot of times when they play catalina live

its found on the bonus cups live bootleg

  • R.I.P Frank Navetta. love you ...

  • He was also "the father" of blink 182.

    Died 31 oct. :(

  • R.I.P Frank Navetta.

    :'(

  • R.I.P

  • R.I.P FRANK.......

  • Yeah...he was the guy who came up with the name "Descendents"

  • agreed.

  • fuck yeah look at the way tony goes after the crowd at the end of "hey hey" (4:38)

  • They sound so much more raw live.

    I LOVE IT!

  • Jean is Dead is best/most under appreciated Descendents song.

  • Tony is my Uncle

  • cool

  • Man i wish the sound wasn't so bad..but hey... I have been dealing with shitty sound on punk albums my whole life..and I rather it be poorly recoded punk than prestine recorded pop! Thats for damn sure!

  • i don't understand what they exactly mean with ALL

    or whatever ALL may be..

  • All means to play hard, rock hard, be better and to kick ass. It's basically motivation to rock harder and to sound better no matter how awesome you currently are.

  • There's a descendents song called "All-o-gistics" that pretty much sums it up....it's just a simple methodology to better living (thou shalt not committ laundry, thou shalt covet thy neighbors food,etc...) Classic!!!

  • jean is dead, one of the best in my opinion.

  • jean is dead is a great song, milo goes to college in my opinion is one of the greatest punk albums of all time.

  • I agree.

  • i dont think i like anything by the descendents besides milo goes to college

  • jean is dead!

  • this shit is of the heezay

  • These guys are super underrated.

  • @mskilj preachin' to the choir.

  • look how cool that crowd is.

  • go go gogo

  • dude i was named after Milo.

  • love em!

  • This is ultra rare, too. It's the period between IDWTGU and Enjoy where they were breaking in Doug Carrion on guitar (he's on the right behind Tony).

  • really? i thought it was like just after milo goes to college...

  • do you know doug?? hes an old friend i lost touch with??

  • fuck you!

  • u die!

  • FUCK YOU!

  • I have a cool show of theirs, 11/2/82, on tape. It's a soundboard too! Thanks for posting this gem.

  • email that shit to me!!

  • wow

  • To be fair the sound quality aint up to much. But it's still decent footage of a classic band in their prime - well done for posting it

  • ace they do the doors part of break on through (to the otherside) before catalina

  • fucking amazing

  • Well, I can't agree because I have a negative comment for all those Descendents bashers that I have to get off my chest: If you don't like the Descendents, you are retarded and need to get the fuck away from punk music because you know shit all! There, I feel better.

  • classic

  • This clip is very difficult to decipher

  • This guys are awesome but Bad Brains is THE best punk band of all time in my opinion.

  • no way descendents kick their fuckin asses

  • Descendents - the undisputed best American punk band of the 80's.....if ur new to these guys i highly recommend the album "Liveage" as a starting point. It is an addictive listen.

  • sounds like shit

  • hoooooraaaaaaahhh.. the fastest band in the world!

  • The descendents are one of the best punk bands ever. Not that there's a competition, it's just they're just an all around terrific example of how a band can just do it right.

  • heavily agree

  • sorry i meant hey hey

  • see tony kick the shit out of everyone during bikeage?

  • This is Ray Coopers first show in EARLY 1983 in Torrance if I remember it right

  • yeah it was in lomita... they tore down the place a couple years ago to put in a mcdonalds...

  • live shows at local dives are always the best!

  • i cant help but shout along everytime i hear catalina

  • Nice...never seen this old of Descendents footage before.

  • horrible sound

  • and? at least we get to see em live

  • descendents fucking rule....

  • man thanks for posting

it sucks how milo is missing his glasses though

  • now this is the pop punk i love

  • thanks men really men jean is dead make me cry the best song ever.

  • pure genius

  • Descendents kick Dag Nasty and 7 Seconds' asses... I don't know what you're talking about. They defined a genre.

  • thanks man this is my favorite band. it means alot.

  • cala boca seu nabo

  • cala boca seu imbecil

  • Descendents sounds good but dag nasty and 7 seconds are much better.

  • I freakin' love this band. Thanks so much! Bikeage is one of the greatest punk songs of all time!
