I love how the drum beat is almost like your heart beating in fear of the first generation Metal Gear. If you paid attention to Granin's office during hsi cutscene, you'll see he's the original designer of the Metal Gear in the first MGS series. The Shagohad is just like a sub-creation of Metal Gear.

@IronMaidenX1995 The odd thing about that is that while his Metal Gear (REX) was the first to be designed, it was one of the last to actually be built; at least 4 different Metal Gears were built before it.

And the Shagohod is not really a sub-creation; it's more like a rival project. While Metal Gear is a tank with legs, the Shagohod is essentially a tank with arms. And a rocket engine.

When I bought Metal Gear Solid 3 I was disappointed. It was the first Metal Gear game I ever played and I thought I was going to get to play as Solid Snake. It was Super Smash Bros. Brawl that got me interested in Metal Gear Solid. Now I have all four of the Metal Gear Solid games and it only took me 2 years to get them all.

this will be a spoiler if you have not played Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops for PSP which is a sequel for MGS3 and is set 6 years after it. RAXA is the very first Metal Gear model ever mad. you have to fight Metal Gear RAXA at some point in the game.

if you look at the series in chronological order, Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops happened first because it was set in 1970 and you played as Big Boss. you had to defeat Metal Gear RAXA. The atari game you are talking about is Metal Gear and it is set in 1995 and you play as Solid Snake. So chronologically, RAXA is the first ever true Metal Gear.

Shagohod is NOT a Metal Gear. A Metal Gear was being devised by Granin (the original creator) but his project was dropped in favour of the Shagohod, which used very similar tech to a Metal Gear (nuke firing machine capable of firing from any terrain). RAXA was mentioned in Portable Ops as incomplete anyway, so the Metal Gear in the first MG game was the first official one.

Oh, and Ray was the first MG to be mass produced in the series, followed by GEKKO in MGS4.. so you're wrong about that too.
