The original ended the same way with the kiss and different music - The one that was chosen for the end was better so retract the previous statement. I just saw the clip that was actually shown in the movie. It has been over 15 years since I saw this version. The original version was good too.

@KoRnFoReVeR21 Not exactly the rope is probably a wire; One that's made of hard materials, like metal and probably lined with plastic or rubber. The wire was also pulled by mass speed. Despite this I like The Parent Trap. It's pretty well done, (not a masterpeice, but superb for a remake) With a great score too! The other film is called, "Ghost Ship" and is on Youtube.
