  • That so cool

  • @1monicaaaa Thanks :D

  • whats the song, pls ?

  • @Traceury Edvard Grieg - Peer Gynt Suite No. 1, Op. 46 - 1. Morning Mood

  • @jantheempress wohooo, thanks a lot :D

  • Okay so you work from light to dark right?

  • @ZkimzyZ Not always. Depends on the medium & composition. Prismacolors can be mixed and layered so I usually lightly color, then layer other color & use a blending pencil :)

  • wow it's beautifull

  • @Roos2059 Thanks! :D

  • Sigh, I still don' t know how to use prisma's so well >< But this is breath takingly amazing !! You make me want to learn to use them properly, :D

  • @BattiManZel Thanks :D You may want to check out the prismacolor site. They have info on technique etc. and some really cool art

  • @jantheempress thank you so much for the tip, what a sweet artist you are, helping the small fry :D

  • i really think her neck is too thin

  • @mm1234262 This is a caricature, not a portrait hence the distortion

  • you forget her birthmark? or did I see it wrong? S:

  • @DeSmurfen125 Oopsy!! You saw correctly. I should know better LOL I included the birthmark in the caricature vid I did of her!

  • WOW!! I could not keep my eyes off it!!! Nice JOB!!!!

  • This is very pretty

  • wat prismacolor pencils do u use

  • Im in love with your drawing

  • @edgar0111 :) Thanks edgar :)

  • What is the song that is playing?

  • @TailsYay Morning Mood by Edvard Grieg's Peer Gynt Suite No. 1, op. 46.

  • Love Marilyn and love your caricature of her. Like your tip of adding highlights with white acrylic paint. Is that your favorite type of art to do? You are so blessed.

  • @pinkscrapper99 Thanks :D lol usually my favorite type of art to do is whatever inspires me at the moment. That can vary, I Love to experiment with new mediums

  • Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude!

You gotta be kiddin me. That was sick. Keep up the good work. Very inspiring stuff.

  • You are a fantastic artist, thanks for bringing this to Youtube. Good luck and much success with all your artwork.

  • @depoty Thanks :D

  • you haven't really explained what type of prismacolor pencil you used or showed what you really did.. you skipped parts and continued on... didn't like it, was no help.

  • @dishy200 Sorry to disappoint you Dishy. The speeded up parts are only because the vid would have been too long & I got some new editing programs that I don't know how to use yet.

Thanks for pointing out what could be helpful to you & others :)

  • lovee it

    great vid :D

  • what type of paper u use??

i wanna draw some caricatures too, but i dont know if the print paper is good, could u let me know the type of paper u used??

thanx in advance, ohh btw im 100% subscribed

  • @blueguitar77 the paper I use varies depending on the project. I usually use a medium weight semi-smooth paper for pencil and a smooth surface paper for ink

  • @jantheempress thank you so much, ill buy that type of paper for sure

    thanx

  • nice vids...i have a question, why sketch is so important? cant u just start without sketching like real drawing? for example e saw some artist doing portraits and thy didnt sketch , they just start drawing real accurate plz answer me =)

  • @karakoisisa This is drawn with prismacolor pencil hence the intitial light sketch which is then layered with color. Just a matter of techinique. Feel free to check out some of my other vids drawing with a sharpie pen :)

  • @karakoisisa You can't just pop out the shadows and highlights when your using colored pencils. You've got to have a fenced in area to spash down your color. Graphite portraits are like laying down shadow and leaving light. With color pencils, and really any color medium, you have to know where to start and where to end.

  • SO COOL! CHeck out my portraits, specially the one of Penelope Cruz. ;D I'm going to draw Marilyn soon ;)

  • @DrawingsByEhvh Thanks :D I checked out your drawings...Cool too!

  • I love your heart work

  • :) Thanks Rab ♥

  • Really nice work! I'm a caricature artist too, I work prefessionally doing it but i want to spend more time on it and I want to bring down the time I spend per portrait !, how long did this take you real time? I'd like to use a medium for colour thats neat and dry... Prismacolour, are they water colour pencils? I wondered if wax pastels might work, gotta get hold of some. I use water colour quite alot but it would n't be suitable for 'on the spot' stuff.

  • Thanks tylertowers :) Prismacolor pencils (not watercolor pencil) can be layered for awesome effects which is not a fast process. Most caricature artists I've met use either wet markers or pastel chalk for coloring. I think using chalk pastel is faster than wax or oil pastels because it can be blended more quickly :) hope this helps!

  • True but u did pretty good anyways.

  • that's awesome!

  • That is beautiful Jan.... I so wish i had a little of your talent.. tell me .. was this a talent you were naturally born with.. or were you once rubbish like most normal people ... I think you're fab!!! :) xx

  • Thanks Tracy :) I love doing this stuff and have been doing it most of my life so there was some practice involved LOL Lots of artists in my family , the inclination could be inherited too!

  • How stiff is the "lead" of a prismacolor pencil?

same as a #2 pencil,or nearer crayon stiffness?

  • I'd say they're between a #1 and #2 pencil. Not as soft as #2 or crayon

  • That's a beautiful drawing! Jan please keep up the good work!

  • Thanks DaffodilAngel :)
