David Phelps most often sings the Alto range at which he is terrific. But, it does take a lot out of a male to carry that level for long. No matter what part he is singing, he is wonderful!

Actually, at the beginning he is singing a baritone part.

I know David Phelps can also sing all three parts (baritone, lead, and tenor), and I believe Michael English can as well.

People don't understand a thing... Baritone / Tenor has something to do with the tone of your voice.. Not how light you can sing.

I will willingly acknowledge ignorance to a great extent on this subject! The only official musical instruction I've ever had was piano lessons.

However, I am majorly confused by your last sentence...how "light" you can sing? I'm really curious, could you please explain? Thanks! :)

Sadly you do not understand a thing... Baritone/Tenor has to do with range within the modal register and nothing at all to do with tone. You could hit a high C all day long and still have horrible tone. You would be a tenor but just not a very good one.

Mark won't be with them full time until April because of his solo concert schedule. So, my guess is he was at a solo concert when this was taped. :D

I don't think Michael English and/or David Phelps could EVER bore me - no matter WHAT they are singing! They can sing the phone book or the annoying 'Barney' song and make it sound totally awesome!

i think that when Mark Lowry gets with em he will 'ground' their sound...and when they start on a new recording doing no remakes of old material, but new fresh stuff..i think they will be awesome.

If they continue on this road doing a sentimental journey through the GVB's extensive songbook...i think they will eventually bore every fan. But i trust Bill's (and the rest of em) that they will come up with something entirely different and i can't wait.

Well they only rehearsed for 2 days plus it was only their first concert together. They also still have to get Mark Lowry into their songs so it will be a while until we see this group "polished".
