This is so cool .... Miss Lady Kier is perfect for Pucci!!!! Ah, she's so lucky to have worn these designs ... I love her, her music and her groovy-ness!!!!
@funeralhome - ha, they already did do that (turn house into dance-pop) in the early 90s. a lot of top 40 radio dance-pop (madonna, rupaul, robin s, black box, ce ce peniston, right said fred, etc.) used house beats during that time, but compared to how cheesy pop is now it was much more tolerable.
Damn, to think I used to hear this back in the NYC clubs and didn't realize it was Lady Kier... this was a club banger back then (such fond memories). My sweet damn she was hot as hell - that face/body (wished I hooked up with a girl like that back then - LOL)
@funeralhome you obviously don't know much about electronic music, current or past. there has been underground house music in america since house music was created. guess where it was created. america.
@doesitexplode I do actually know a lot about Electronic dance music. I've been going to parties for a very long time. I see my comment is still being misconstrued. AGAIN, my point was that VERY POPULAR MAINSTREAM house music gets DUMBED down so it can appeal to the masses. Anyway, this is pointless. You don't know who I am or what I know. OBVIOUSLY, house music was created in the US. That wasn't my point.
Im fkin 18 and I feel like im the only person my age who wishes old skool house tracks come back alive. fuck i need someone to make some origi songs like these ... who feels me?
@funeralhome I have to say that I love that feeling too.. but come on. House music becoming popular again would do nothing but good for it. It's not like the people who are good at it would suddenly stop making it because it wasn't "underground". And if they would than they're elitist jerks to begin with.
@nickystartup ... I think what he meant was that if it was commercial music the spirit of house would be lost... everything that becomes mainstream gets ruined by the masses...
@funeralhome I totally agree. This is exactly what happened to the alternative scene. Great groups like the Cure, Depeche Mode, REM, and U2 were affected for better or worse. There is hope though. Some start out as pop and go underground and get better. The Clan of Xymox is an example.
@rigidlynumb it was on the b-side of the "Power of Love" maxi single and on "Sampladelic Relics and Dancefloor Oddities", a collection of Deee-Lite Remixes.
I am spoiled for all other women thanks to Lady Miss Kier. I will never be satisfied until I can find a mate (male or female) who can match her talent and style.
I am spoiled for all other women because of Lady Miss Kier. I will never be satisfied until I find a mate (male or female) with matching talent and style.
I love Lady Kier, but srsly! This music blows,no meaning no substance garbage! The video is the only thing of value here, best one I've seen of her!Are people going to tell me that they would love this track by itself ,not knowing lady Kier was on it?This shit is too repetitive.Nothing against Lady Kier.
@F0rkb0y.. yes, there are people who appreciate this song, I'm one of them.. And, any fan would recognize Lady Miss Kier's faux French "How do you say?".. especially, over and over again :-D...
This makes me wonder what Lady Gaga has found in Lady Miss Kier!>?.
les907, yes we're allowed because that's exactly what it is. So called "genres" like Ambient, Chill, Downtempo, and others mentioned are only labels seeking their own identity. No matter how coined, penned, or referenced, it's House. And whether its NY, NJ, Chi, or Philly, House is the music of Underground because it's from the club; hence, the HOUSE and almost NEVER part of the mainstream. It's a never-ending movement that doesn't require visibility, because it's recognized when heard. ;)
The video here seems to me to be a perfect example of the wrong 2 chords and as such, an example of why I don't "get" house. It works for about 8 bars but by the 10th I feel acute ennui. Obviously this is all down to personal taste but a relevant take on Dee-Lite's demise nonetheless. Repetition can be eternal if the ingredients are 'right' but my argument against 'house' (rhythmically brilliant, harmonically / contrapuntally... musically tedious) is that those ingredients are elusive.
if you think listening to house is elitist..(um millions of people everywhere listen to it & for 20 years, this is an american pop video also, americans invented underground house! remember? "the warehouse" chicago.. der) if you wanna be elitist get into chicago juke or detroit jit, norman mclaren or somalian pop so on.. cant do it with house! ridiculous!)
You're right, they're still making masic, but in America who's listening nowadays? It's all about bullshit bubble gum pop & hiphop. - I was into house since 1988, and everyone was into it back then. Those days are long gone.
does this not actually express a fascination with the 60s? The clothes are 60s and the magazine clips are from the 60s. As is the haircut and the makeup. I'd say that the legacy of both the 1960s and the 1990s might be the partying. Although there was massive partying in the 70s and 80s.
you have not an idea of the ideals of the old. Truth and valor - something that doesn't exist. Your post makes the passion of the past seem like paper when it is the concrete.
