Traveling nurse is better because we earn more salary than traditional nurses...not to brag but the benefits are fantastic..you can earn salary you never thought possible :-)
@fukkoutahere anyways, as a side note i work with a black woman and can say that she is one of the most inteligent and wisest women i know. so it really depends. however, steroptypes were made for a reason so think about it.
@fukkoutahere I dont know you but I like you. I think you mean well. Anyways, my point was to say that nurses are very mean to each other. Have your ever heard the sayin 'nurses eat their young' or horizontal violence? Well, it s all true and it s brutal. They may be ok with the patients but not with each other. I said black women because it s a known fact. I did not mean it in a racist way. I was simply stating the fact. You must realize truth ofthen is not the prettiest .
truth about nurses: the profession has so called horizontal violence which means nurses treat each other very bad. They are the worse kind of raging bitches (excuse my language) you will ever come across as a human being. The next kind are black women. The are the two most miserable kinds of women out there. Just stating the facts. Dont pick the professional unless you want to join the viciousness.
Different people says different thing about RN... Who do I believe? Humans ALWAYS have some negative things to say about everything in life! Abnormal bastards, you'll never be true human beings.
@eddyhouranihow the heck can you make that kind of money in nursing? what are they nurse practitioners? there is no way they can make that kind of dough as a regular staff RN
If a guy was shot in the right temple and has an exit wound around the medula! he has no gag reflex and his cornea is starting to dielate! but for some reason he still has normal heartbeat, how would you stablized him? or will you pull the plug?
@ andreilewistapit, the NCLEX is your state boards. People use the phrases interchangeably. Passing this test gives you your state license. You can take other exams to certify in one specific area though, like pediatrics, emergency medicine, etc. I believe to certify you must have at least a BSN in most states though. Good luck to you in school!
You end up bitter, sad and you usually end up with an long term injury due to the folk you went into the job for, They grab, bite, hit, punch, throw needles, throw shit(real brown stuff) at you and you basically cant do much about it. Then there are the relatives- a few are nice, most are not bothered about your care - just how much they can get from you by suing you for any bullshit they can dream up and no managerial back up - still wanna join?
@autopilotflight Do you work in the UK as a nurse? If so how much do you make, and how much is stolen from you by your government due to the unfair taxing in your country because of your "free" healthcare.
i just graduated from nursing school. I take my NCLEX on JUNE 10. I'll be a new RN. excited about it. i'm going to apply in ICU. I need a challenge, and i plan to become a CRNA! :)
I went into nursing to become a CRNA I have a chemistry degree before getting my BSN. I can not get a job I graduated 6 months ago my schools program is 48th nationally and CRNA program is 11th. I went in as it was supposed to be a recession proof job that paid well. Now I have no job no income and if I can not get a job in a few months I will have to join the military.
I am an RN and I make 120000 USD a year. recession proof. no matter what happens you have a job as long as people are around. I work 14 days in a month. 12h shifts. 7 every 2 weeks. I have plenty of time to spend with my family, friends than anyone else in any other profession. no profession gives you that much time and money with such a short course of study.
I am a male nurse and I am proud of who I am and what I do.
hey I am planning to get into nursing and I am a male. I graduated with a Bachelors in health Science. Does a RN with a masters degree make more money than a person with a BSN? What state and city do you work in? why is it some RN make 60k and some makes 100+??
@mrjprocks RN with master degree of some thing else does not count at all. A RN's salary depends on (1) experience, (2) degree such as RN, BSN or MSN (3) specialties.
wow really? what school did you go to and what state are you in? im going to start school in oct at western career for lvn and im thinking of continuing school to be an rn....
@djrock143 > what state are you from...and does your state requires state board exam aside from being an nclex passer? and btw. i'm a student nurse. hehe
@lovelyaley actually, yes you do right here in California. I have made over 100,000 for many years working one job without overtime. And no I am not a CRNA.
@djrock143 Why's that a lot of people saying that not to get into nursing program? I am really interested in getting in next year RN program, but some people are really confusing me.. But after reading your comment, I feel a little better now. Thank you for sharing all that with us.
ps- when did you see a Engineer or a Business Manager work a sat night 7 p to 7a shift. nothing like working wk ends, short handed while all your friends and family are down the shore
I have to disagree with you, as an RN, I've recieved a raise every year up to +5/hr a year. I make more money than most engineers, business managers, etc. And I'm in the A/C so it's def not shit work, sorry but I'm pretty sure my nurse assistants get the shit work if thats what you want to call it. I love my job and the pay.
Whatever, Nurses are needed. The county is in the shape its in because of generations of parents brainwashing their
children that "blue collar" work is below them. So their kids go to school for some dream job, and now they are out of work while there is a need for nurses in this country. The reality is that to survive you need to get your hands dirty. Too many dreamers, not enough people who want to work.
Agreed. Even if you have to work 12 hr shifts, that still leaves you with 4 days off. Plus, it is somewhat more recession proof than other jobs. I'm not an RN but my sister is. In 10 years, she's doubled her salary plus her job pays great benefits.
Do not listen to that very negative comment...I have been a nurse for almost 18 years..best job ever. First of all one does not go into nursing just for the 'pay' ...it is a rewarding and exciting job. People that go into this profession for the wrong reasons end up sounding like the individual above.

@ djrock143, you sure you're an RN? I have never heard of an RN making that much in a year, unless you're a CRNA, no matter what state you're in.
In my state, we make about half as much as that starting out, if not less.

@carolinaqt782 Well DJ is right. Look around in So Cal and you will find plenty of 100,000 +/year jobs.

nurses pay sucks,
you start off higher than other jobs but as the years by nursing falls way behind.
dont forget- NURSING SUCKS, SHIT WORK

dustman1984 3 years ago
Thats alot of BS ,
Nursing pays more up front then you cap out,
MOST Engineers will make a ton more than you a few years down the road. Nursing has to pay more up front or nobody would even think about it.
With all the people going into Nursing soon the Hospitals will start to dump RNs that have been around for the cheaper new grads.
Its a cycle. What is A/C

Talk to real bedside RNs kid. Not the desk jocks that want to sell you a seat in a nursing school. Real bedside RNs are burnt out and fed up.
