Actually in Smokey and the bandit the cars used in the movie were 76 trans ams with a 77 front clip. But as far as buying from GM that is about as close as you can get. Aside from the wheels.

Friend of mine is totally devoted to trans am and he knows practically every line of smokey and the bandit. He told me bout it. You dont have to believe me. You can look it up. Wonder why they were "Modified". Wiki isnt a very good info source in my opinion. Check on 78TA

@fireman01723 ok I'm sorry, but I just don't think that's true. I've been a Trans Am enthusiast for several years now and I've never heard anything like that. It's always been said that the Bandit is a '77 the Film was made in '77. it even says on Wikipedia that they had 3 modified 1977 Trans Am's donated to them by Pontiac for the movie.

either the shaker decal is wrong or its a 403 and the transmission is a 3 speed not a 4.
