  • Remarkable

  • man do you guys get storms this bad all the time?

  • like a pretty average day in nz lol

  • that storm was crazy i got a tree though my roof

  • It was'nt a mini tornado at all!!!! or a cyclone. It was a MICROBURST

  • How gay does that sound? Imagine sitting around having a BBQ with your mates when a big storm approaches they you say oh - I think this could be a microburst, want some more pink chardonnay and quiche? Faggy - Real Aussies call it a mini-tornado, its in the dictionary now.

  • learn you're meteorology you moron

  • and FUCK I SPELT YOU'RE INCORRECTLY! YOUR!!!!!!!!!!!! now i look stupid

    fuck

  • noob....it was a microburst, theyre worse than cyclones. same windspeed, same rainfall in alot shorter period of time, and just pyscho hail and stuff

  • aus2045: you, my good sir, wear the hat of a complete fucktard. Real Aussies are intelligent, reasonably educated people. Unfortunately, It appears that you dont appear anywhere in this category. My most sincere appologies to your parents...

  • If you want to see a fucktard, who's shit's all fucked up! go take a look in the mirror!

  • correct :)

  • Wow - classic Mini-tornado.

  • werd

    crazy!

  • i was in chermside when this one hit boy those winds were up! at least one car on the roof was hit by a flying trolley! i think it could have been dinted... not sure but the storm hit was worse elsewhere. wow!

  • we got here but not bad

  • All the luck cause this storm is messed up!

  • Ferny Grove?... Samford rd... mmmmmmmm bet traffic was fun.. :P

  • Still is! The lights are still out at the Great Western Super Centre and today there was a line backed all the way up the Great Western Super Centre (Settlement Road), leading all the way up to the gates of the Ferny Grove dump on Upper Kedron Road. This line was of TRUCKS only! There was every type of truck you can imagine, including Army etc. all piled high with trees and rubbish! It was a spectacle to behold, lemme tell ya! Ferny Grove was crawling with Army guys today!

  • Wow! Even now?? gees! Yeah i heard they closed off settlement rd for trucks only so they could access the dump from The Gap. Isn't it strange seeing the army guys all over the place, it's like someone you'd see on the news :P

  • I work for Telstra - in the faults department - we quite literally had thousands of calls that day - the phones were going non stop all day. It must have been am assive storm to have done that much damage.

  • That's an understatement!

  • The Gap still is without power. At least one of the ladies I work with won't make it in til Sat from The Gap and another had to wait til someone chopped up the tree in the driveway at Bunya!

  • Wow! We got our power back last night, thankfully! It's amazing just how much we rely on it these days. Our landlord is in Bunya and had a heap of trees to deal with. It's amazing how much help has been offered though - we even had a busload of Army guys turn up today to offer some muscle!

  • It's great to see them get in and help. They do it for overseas, so why shouldn't they do it here! I'm feeling really bad at the moment. I grew up in The Gap and attended The Gap High, Uniting Church on Waterworks Rd, Payne Rd State School. I feel like I should be there to help out. It's a horrible feeling that I have to choose work over helping. I hope those who can, do.

  • You should have seen the Gap School on Settlement Road - WOW! The kids playground was a buckled mess, it was all steel and looked like it had just been bent as easily as thin plastic! I also saw the remains of someone's big trampoline today on the side of the road. Nothing left of it remotely resembled a trampoline except that it had the net from the sides piled up next to it!

  • Tru? I didn't realise it when we went passed on Sunday night. I was too worried about dodging the trees across the road there. We had to drive over a power line at the Nova Gardens, guided by fire and rescue (covered by plastic arches of course) It was scary.

  • i was at the top of cootha and saw it rolling in and it looked mean as, hope u guys get ure power back on soon. im lucky cause i live on the very south of brizzy and we only got rain and a couple of thuder strikes across the road in the forest

  • Hi there, we actually got our power back on last night, so we are getting back to normalcy again now. Certainly hit us for a six though, and there are many others who copped it worse than we did!

  • Mum and Dad got their power back late last night too. Had to take a day trip to get their food from my Uncles place at Ferny Grove as they had Settlement Road Closed today and will have tomorrow.

  • not the trampoline. Oh the humanity!!!!

  • man this storm was shocking. just got power back at plucks road.

    brutal :(

  • Plucks Road was a SHOCKER! I shot a 10 min video yesterday of the aftermath. My hubby is at work at the moment and has it on his phone, but once he gets home tonight, I'll upload it. We went through Ferny Grove, Ferny Hills, Arana Hills (including Plucks Road), The Gap and Keperra, and the vid shows the destruction in all of those areas.

  • yeah mate, it was terrible. Same with barber road, 4 power lines down on the one street.

the SES were fantastic though, the moment the storm died down, we went on the street to clear debris, and the SES were already there.

  • Yeah, I was amazed by the number of SES, Council and Army guys that were EVERYWHERE today! Ferny Grove was just BUZZING with activity! The sounds of chain saws, and trucks and helicopters were constant all day long. It makes you feel good knowing that there is help there. I know it sounds cheesy, but it really does invoke a great "community spirit" and kinda gives you the "warm fuzzies", iykwim?

  • Yep, it sure does! I really wanted to get to The Gap and help out at the Church and school that I used to go to, but unfortunately, money had to come first. I'm casual and couldn't afford the time off. Dad said that he had seen a heap of trucks going passed their place at Payne Rd today. He was amazed.

  • god this storm was a shocka..

  • wow. i was stuck at the BP at the ferny station.. i jus uploaded a vid of it. it was insane. we drove around ferny after.. cudnt get anywhere with all the tree's and power lines down and the flooding.

  • Hi - many thanks for uploading this storm video by battery power, satellite web and candlelight! I am a Brisbane guy living in Shanghai in China. I was reading the news online at the ABC website, saw you had a storm tonight and went straight to youtube to see if anyone had uploaded footage. It was great to find yours and to see how wild the storm was! We have the CRAZIEST weather in Brisbane hey! Cheers! Mark

  • A woman had to cancel her shift at work tonight because she couldn't get the car down the road to check on her brother's dogs in Ferny Grove, let alone drive into The Valley, due to fallen trees. My parents on Dayboro Rd said they heard the electricity wasn't expected to be reconnected until 6:30am
