  • VIA is a shit company. Their garbage is very buggy and cannot compare to Intel's stuff.

  • Wait.....i had a intel atom D525 a desktop atom processor but it cant playback 1080P

    can any one help me?

  • ES TODO MENTIRA ESTE VIDEO. EL VIA NANO NUNCA VA A RENDIR MAS QUE EL INTEL ATOM Y LO SE POR HABER PROBADO AMBOS, INCLUSO EN VIDEOS QUE SON MENOS DE 720P CON EL MISMO REPRODUCTOR INTALADO CORRIA EL VIDEO EN 10FPS CONTRA LOS 24 FPS DEL ATOM, ADEMAS LOS NANO TRAEN VIDEO UNICHROME, MUY MAL RENDIMIENTO, ESAS Y LAS SIS SON MALAS PLACAS DE VIDEO ONBOARD.

  • I downloaded the same 1080p video on my acer aspire one with the intel atom n270 it ran perfect with no lag at all

  • Just bought 2 Samsung NC20's with the VIA Nano, and to say the least, they are awesome. At 550.00 a piece, It was worth the extra 200 to get the performance of a Laptop out of the netbook. Peace.

  • you can get an acer 1410 at below $400 with core 2 solo, which kicks nano's ass is every aspect.

  • And now Acer is already talking about their own version of the IPad, somewhat smaller, but still a competitor. And they might be going into the corporate server business this year, so Acer is moving up, but I bought the Samsungs to try the Via myself. It's not the end of the World. Peace.

  • Well, my N270 plays HD videos no problem, and my Vcore reads 1.013V... which I believe is lower than the Nano...

  • so to tell you guy. Your realy full of it. the atom cpu can to play 1080p. i have almost the 1005ha and it plays 1080p like the other laptop on the left. i bet you had the Eee pc on power saving mode.

  • damn i never trusted Intel

  • Well. youtube and other media is HD all in 2 years.... So if you buy a 1,6 Ghz. atom netbook, you WONT be able to use youtube and be satisfied in 2011.

  • unless u get a ion platform

flash is going to be supported in 2011

  • ye ofc. The ion is almost like The Nano cpu. But not so good cpu power as the nano.

  • and not as good as gpu power too

  • i didnt knew that. But i have seen Via nano playing crysis :)

  • yeah but ultra low rez but i remember it had a discrete gpu i remember it

    yes

it was a via board with a pci-e 16 slot

  • At 5 frames a second...

    It was horrible.

  • Doubt it. That means consumers will have to purchase HD camcorders and cameras to produce HD videos. There will still be people who will continue to use their old video cameras to produce video.

  • just cut the crap and make a decent open source gfx driver.

  • I guess you cant really explain, I was hoping for an answer. I was doing some research and the Intel Atom is faster then the Via C7 CPU, but not as fast as the 1.8 GHZ Via nano CPU. However with that said the 1.8 GHZ Via nano CPU isnt way better. Its anywhere between 1%- 25% faster, and overall being about 15% faster. I've seen Intel Atom CPU's run HD video just fine, infact one of the video responses to this video proves that. Besides, who buys a netbook to watch 1080p HD video anyway? lol

  • One thing that was not revealed in this video was that the VIA laptop is using VIA's 3D hardware. These videos about the Nano seem to be more like demonstrations of VIA's mobile graphics chips than the Nano itself.

  • "Besides, who buys a netbook to watch 1080p HD video anyway?" - Forget the netbook. The Nano and the Atom could be the ideal basis for a HTPC: They draw little power, which means they don't run as hot as "normal" CPUs - which in turn means you can build a small silent box for your living room - or even integrate such a machine with a digital TV or home cinema projector.

  • You make a good point. It would real interesting to see. I think both the Nano and Atom would be well suited for that. I also think aside from netbooks, both the Nano and Atom would be ideal in future smart phones. Imagine a BlackBerry Storm, a T-Mobile G1, or an iPhone with one of those puppies under the hood. That would amazing.

  • I have used a HP mini note netbook with a 1.2 GHZ Via cpu, and I have also used a HP mini 1000 notebook with a 1.6 GHZ Intel atom cpu. Please explain why performance was a great deal faster on the netbook with the Atom CPU considering all other specs were the same concerning ram and OS?

  • I have never liked intel based proccecors, PPC FTW!!!!

  • I've always thought that there was way too much X86 in the world, and I kind of liked it better (and found it more interesting) when you had more choice of CPU. You just don't get that in most of today's PCs. And most of today's netbooks are even worse, usually only letting you buy X86 processors from Intel. :P

  • how bout you put the eee pc's atom set to maximum performance instead of power saving

  • for those of you whining about such a comparison being stupid, there are people out there looking for a compact device that can be connected to an hdtv for 1080p playback. now stfu.

  • HEY! VIA DUDE! OVER HERE!!!

would you kindly explain me why da f*$# would one play a vid @ 1920x1080 vid in such a small screen that actually has 1024x600?!?!?!

you might have a better performing cpu, but with comparisons like that you just show stupidity.

  • Even if the screen is 1024x600, the computer has to resize the video data which plays at 1920x1080 dipshit. The amount of data that the computer has to process is not changed. When shit changes to HD, those crappy netbooks with intel atom won't be worth a shit. You might as well get a typewriter if you want an intel netbook.

  • Thats a big when. Given that a lot of market is data limited by there ISP it will be many years before ANY online content provider will have a 1080p only stream. so i think by the time that happens all PC's out now "will be worth shit". As long as a notebook cpu can play a 700mb Mpeg4 film video from the pirate bay that's good enough atm.

  • That's because you're a low tech dipshit still watching pixelated shit and have absolutely no sense of future value. There are plenty of HD content online as well as blu-ray rips replacing your precious 700mb video files. Intel atom was an outdated product as soon as it came out.

  • lol, the amount of rage in your posts. You would never guess that we are just talking about cpu's. The point is ALL these mobile CPU units are disasterously slow.

The notebook platform is for light on the go office use. High performance and battery powered is an oxymoron. 1080p video is the least of your worries when all these devices have 5200rpm or worse drives 1GB or worse memory etc.. Your angry complaints look ridiculous.

Does a school run auto need alloy racing wheels?

  • The Via based EVEREX Cloudbook is selling like crazy on EBAY at the moment. It's no wonder considering what they cost, and what there specs are, compaired to the crappy EEEpc ASUS has out.

  • I am very glad to see someone kicking INTEL in there sorry ASSES, and giving us a low power moble processor, that we all can trully afford to buy, without blowing out our wallets.

  • The Nano obliderates the Atom in benchmarks. the Atom may draw less power, but its amost always paired with a cheap power-hungry chipset, so the Nano actualy takes the advantage there too. its too bad Intel is working their advertising magic again and no companies are using the Nano.

  • I agree for the most part, but I Think Everex is comming, with a whole line of Nano Machines this year, as seeing how they did so well with the VIA C7 and, VIA C7M based machines, on there desktop, laptop, and Netbook models. I bought 2 Everex laptops. One for my g/f and one for my niece. They love them, and get decent performance out of them, (once XP was installed lol) and they saved my wallet big time.

  • Intel are cunts

  • who actually watched HD movies on a netbook? FTW?

  • it's only benchmark.

    free visual benchmark methods

Do you like another ultimate benchmark tool for netbook??

may be built-in vista score lol

  • VIA is a piece of shit

  • I love how jkk has that same exact video running and it runs fine.

  • The EEE with Atom is probably underclocked to power saving setting.

    VIA SUCKS!

  • via sucks

  • Well, IMHO this cannot be a fair test. I get better frame rates on my eee901 with HD video.

I'm not sure why your system was lagging.

  • i work on a pc shop, never had a problem with asus mainboard\products in general. I've used a via chipset for 2 months and some other via product , can't describe how many problems i had.

  • "Our processor is slower than Intel Atom, but we can do very good lie-videos."

    :D:D

  • VIA, you're fools.

  • Now where's that clip som we can all download and run it to compare ?

  • The youtube verdict is in.. Down with corporate marketing schemes that FLAT OUT LIE!

  • it is not true via is lying

  • This was so unprofessional it's ridiculous! I mean, I think I'm right in saying this is the first tech company video where you can see the spokesman's chest hair.

Regardless. There are tons of videos on YouTube of people watching 1080p or 720p on their Atom-based computers. Make up your own mind.

  • Via who? What a complete lack of class from a company, let your products do the talking, not some hired shill. HD video runs flawlessly on my Atom powered Acer Aspire One, I hope Intel sues these guys pants off and they are forgotten as quickly as they came.

  • Wrong and many acocunts.

    Enough said on this ^_^.

continue to live in your fantasy land.

  • You don't qualify to determine when enough is said. The video is embarrasing and untruthful, reminds me a bit of you.

  • The intel atom is less than half the speed of the VIA Nano.

  • Oh I see... ROFLMFAO!

Stupid Intel shills posting from Intel cuckoo land still faggoting away as usual. Whats wrong Pat, cat got your tongue?

    HURTS too hard assholes?

Atom got raped hard with less BS lies hurts your dillow lane holed butt?

    Swallowing crow again?

Dumb sad stupid geek Intel quacks. Get a life morons. You blind brand asslick sheep will always be the cavedogs on earth, whimps.

Chat away crap like wussies thinking repetition makes their daft shit acceptable or believable.

    Quack

  • I want HP 2133 Mini-Note with VIA nano !!!

  • WOw!!!

  • the Atom is cheaper cause its Shit. I order the Nano cause even if you going to spend $5 on a cpu you dont want it to run like a $5 cpu.

  • First thing VIA must do is getting rid of intermediate distributors that add zero value but increment costs x2. Also, VIA is not beeing serious with Linux and 90% of low power systems are headed to Linux integrated applications. They are shooting themself. Right now is cheaper to buy an (intel Atom based) Asus EEE Box with keyboard, hardisk, wifi, power supply without discount that assembling VIA ITX systems by buying the motherboard, cage and power supply at discount order prices (without HD).

  • Nano was proven to be more powerful than the Atom, but the Nano draws slightly more power

  • Poor sad pathetic Intel fanboys, "FAKE ITS FAKE", duh, ROFLMFAO!!!

Muhuhaha its funny watching the Intel crackpots go berserk LULZ. Comon you Intel net nannies, start making BS excuses now to cover up when you clearly lost with a crap product *rolleyes*

  • its funny how the "slower" video ends at the same time as the smooth one.

  • That's standard behaviour with some video codecs. I've noted with VP7 that on older Athlon XP's(barely fast enough to play the vids), the video will "stop" at difficult points. The audio keeps playing, as does the video, but it isn't updated, as frames are fully dropped. Once the demand falls, it continues updating frames(playing smoothly).

I suspect that with a bit more processing power or acceleration, the Atom laptop would've played it smoothly.

  • Bah, no edit button.

Yes, it seems like VIA picked a 1080p video that's just a tad too demanding for the Atom.

And that said - these things are significantly faster than Atoms. The only problem is THEY AREN'T BUYABLE!

  • HAHAHA ye Intel trolls, shills and quacks in 1000's online are havin a hard time taking this one up their highway sized assholes as usual :=D

The faggots never shut the fuck up.... keep chatting out of their miserable ass on their face spreading BULLsh!t and FUD everywhere online. The suckers lost hardcore this time. Via bumraped Intel and Intel dumbshit wikipedia fanboys both with Nano, then turned around to throw snot on their face while at it.

  • You seem to be extraordinarily angry and stupid. But you aren't alone here with your other crowing weirdos, ejaculating over your laptop not because of any porn, but because of the machine itself.

  • OH my GOD First of All where am i gonna get 1080p on youtube HAHA. Secondly I think this video was published as an AD for Via processors and biased toward Atom.Thirdly running on battery, clock speed of Atom processor is 1.2 not 1.6.Well how about this my asus eee pc boot in less than 30 sec.Last note Via processor eats more power than Atom. Just google it.

  • Guys, first of all both machines are running on battery! Which means the Atom of Eee is running @ 1.2Ghz.

Second, VIA is using WMP 11 and JKK is using WMP 10. This file is not running on the Eee PC with the Atom even clocked at 1.6Ghz using WMP 11.

These guys that are calling this a fake, should make their homework before heading over to a comment section.

But one thing is for sure. VIA should have mentioned in the video that both machines are running on battery.

  • I couldn't stand watching the video because the guy was so annoying, even before I knew it was fake

  • Love VIA! Go go go! The mobile world is yours!

  • VIA Inside!

  • rofl, I am not a fan of either company. I could carless about the Atom and Nano. But it's plain as day that the Nano computer is not running the video in HD, and the Atom computer isn't running it to it's full potential.

There is a video on youtube, of a guy, with the same Atom based PC, playing the EXACT same movie, at 1080p perfectly fine.

  • 100% fake via is a big FAKE

  • jajajaja fake ?????? Intel fucking jajajaaj

  • HOAX! Nice try via.

  • Fake... the eee was even running at 1.2ghz

  • Because we saw black lines on nano laptop's screen

  • FAKE !! It's a big fake !!!!!!! The resolution of the video is smaller on laptop with Via Nano than eeepc with Atom !

  • This is a dodgy VIA video! jkkmobile demonstrated it is bullshit and even Engadget is now highlighting the con. A pity that VIA crippled the Eee PC in some way (maybe by running a defrag in the background). At least everyone now knows not to trust VIA's claims in future...

  • Just for that I'll never touch a device with VIA in it ever again.

By the way Nano, Dual Core atoms WILL run circles around you, but you'll be too busy lagging frames to see it properly.

  • Pateanle las bolas a intel XD

  • I call BS. Check jkkmobiles video response, showing an Atom running the exact same file on a EEE 901.

It plays the 1080p video just fine.

  • Intel fucking sucks.

XVX for life, R.A.S.H. 'til death.

  • problem is how much and when ?

the eeepc 901 have $600 price tag for

    9" 1024*600

    1.6ghz atom + gma950

    4 + 16 ssd

    1GB DDR2-533

    4-7 h on

    1.3 megapixel cam

  • the thing is, Via Nano uses about 30% more power than Atom.

  • the 9" screens pull more power than 7" so maybe they should all use crappy 7" screens. I know they suck. I had an EEEPC 701 4G
