Yeah for the price it's great. There are a few niggles - the d-pad could be better - but it costs less than a 360 or PS3 game, so it's hard to complain too much :)
Ian: the screen on this is loads better than the blurry Nomad one, plus the Nomad is expensive, massive and sucks batteries dry in a couple of hours. I had one a few years ago and it hardly got any use because I literally couldn't take it out of the house!
If you're after a portable solution for playing all those lovely Japanese Mega Drive carts of yours then this is recommended. The RetroGen is a similar product and another good option but it doesn't have the 20 Sega games built-in.
@Duddyroar I couldn't agree more.. I used to own a Nomad many years ago and the LCD is terrible I'm afraid (compared to this one and GP2X F-200).. batteries dried up really fast, and no battery pack included.. Furthermore, for some reasons I couldn't get any Japanese Megadrive carts to work, even I force them in into the slot.
I had to file away some of the cartridge slot on my Nomad to get Japanese games to fit - and even then you can only play those games that don't contain a region-check :(
I see. Where can I buy one? Did you try Pro Action replay 2, Mega Key 3, or Game Genie. I heard that any of these devices get around the Japanese or import games problem on your
Nomad or Megadrive 2 Btw: I've been thinking, would it be possible to modify, desoldier the sound chip from the Nomad and solder it to
the GenMobile to get perfect Megadrive sound? just a thought :)
Thanks for the heads up. Yes, the modding is very risky and one mistake could cost your systems.. I don't recommend it either.. (just my imagination to get perfect sound channels :P)
For the price this isnt bad at all, bonus that it plays Jap carts. I'm thinking about getting a Nomad in the future but then youve got to get it modded. This is a cheap alternative. :-)
Thank you for telling me that MegaDrive games work on it :D

Bit of a price difference between the two...plus the GP2X doesn't play original carts ;)

I'm not sure about modding as I'm not brave enough to try that! :)
I never tried any import adapters on the Nomad and I've long since gotten rid of it. :(
As for getting hold of a GenMobile, I got mine from Stone Age Gamer, their link is in the video description - hope this helps!
