  • Hey,

Great video. I was just wondering, does it matter what form I take the nettle root? Like, will it work if I take it in pill form? Or does it have to be the actual root?

    Thanks!

  • @Linnywooify Whichever way is most convenient for you.

  • Zack, these nettle roots are not in a capsule. how do you recommend us to take these nettle root?

  • @rcstar07 I've just added a link in the video (skip to 1 minute or so in) to another video of mine about herbal decoctions.

  • Yo, thanks for the video. I really appreciate your help and I will be sure to contribute. Two questions though, as far as the olive oil, what kind should I get? (virgin, extra virgin, light, or does it even matter); secondly, what dosage of nettle root should I be taking daily?

  • @tonytocanova Extra virgin olive oil will have the greatest concentration of the phenols which are the compounds that benefit your hair when rubbed into the scalp. The dosage of nettle root if you get the whole herb would be about 1-1.5 tbsp a day simmer in 2-3 cups of water for 30 minutes and drank in two portions at either end of the day.

  • Do you recommend nettle root over the leaf? Do you use the root as a tea? Thanks for your video!

  • @peaceinstead As I say in the video the root is #1 for hair loss as it has effects on the hormones and the leaf provides extra minerals.

  • ......Does nettle extract support reduction in prostate size by an unproposed mechanism, and decreased DHT is a marker of this effect? If so, would nettle be beneficial for preventing local scalp folicular DHT conversion?

  • @marlioso1 As I said in the video nettle root block 5-alpha reductase production. The idea is that those people whose MPB is caused by DHT it helps lower DHT levels, I am not aware of any direct effect in the scalp however.

  • @SecretsOfLongevity Yeah i understand 5-AR, but surely the binding effect nettle lignans have on SHBG would negate the effects of decreased DHT synthesis. SHBG is needed to modulate DHT, aswell as T.

I'm unaware of any research on nettle and a decrease in DHT, if data does exist it is probably upon patients with BHP, in which case my previous point stands and DHT could be reduced by another mechanism. Therefore not applicable to MPB.

I (hopefully) stand to be corrected though!

  • 2) Interesting point you made RE the relationship between DHT and BPH. If DHT is marker of BHP rather than a causative factor then surely the evidence for using nettle extract is significantly weakened. I'm unaware of any specific research on the use of nettle extract in cases of male pattern baldness or individuals without BHP.....

  • @SecretsOfLongevity

Hi Zack, great information. However, couple of theoretical questions.

    1) If nettle decreases the binding of free T by SHBG, surely efficient binding of DHT would also similarly be effected?

  • @marlioso1 1) Yep as mentioned in the video it's a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor, that's the enzyme that converts free T. to DHT.

    2) It is weakened however people still report results with it.

  • how would maca powder affect hair loss?

  • @mdr226 I'm not aware of it having an effect either way.

  • Hi Zack, wondering if you can make a video where you explain why the consumption of soy is bad for men, or why is bad in general? Or maybe you already made this video?

  • @crimangione Search "soy" on my channel, I have a few videos about phytoestrogens and soy specifically.

  • it make sense the use nettle root also against thinning of hair, and not actual hair loss?

  • @crimangione That might be more a lack of high quality protein and minerals in yoru diet. Eat more meat and mineral rich foods like greens and even try taking nettle leaf to get the much needed minerals for thicker healthier hair.

  • @SecretsOfLongevity

Thanks always a lot for your answers! So nettle root is not necessary in a hair thinning case? better just Nettle leaf?

  • Is plain organic yogurt a diary food to avoid for hair loss?

Do you suggest soy yogurt instead or not?

I try to avoid soy yogurt for the high amount of fat and saturated fat

  • @crimangione All dairy foods except butter and ghee will raise DHT and should be reduced in your diet if your intention is to slow down hair loss. All soy products should be avoided for the fact that they're soy, not because of their individual nutrients. Soy doesn't contain much fat at all let alone saturated fat.

  • @SecretsOfLongevity

Thanks! So can you suggest any substitute for the breakfast to mix with the gluten free rolled oats I use to eat?

  • does using nettle root can affect in any way sex drive?

  • @crimangione Slightly if it lowers DHT production but it will simultaneously be raising free testosterone so it's a MUCH better option than saw palmetto or these other DHT conversion blocking drugs that don't block the conversion of free T. to estradiol as well.

  • when you say that lowering the level of DHT reduce strength do you refer also to the use of nettle root? So using nettle root can reduce strength?

  • @crimangione It may depending on your level of DHT when you start taking it. See the above comment for details. Our muscles run more on free testosterone than DHT and they actually make the conversion to DHT independent of the rest of the body which is unaffected by herbs and drugs so it won't reduce your strength by too much unless you also lower your overall testosterone.

  • This was the best and most inspirational video ive seen on the subject. Though I have to disagree that the hair loss problem is all cosmetic (people can't feel good in the inside if they are self conscious of the outside). Just 3 questions:

    1. What is your opinion on a multi-vitamin like Centrum?

    2. Can any form of Olive Oil work? (for instance like the generic type sold in a food store)

    3. This is kinda awkward but does overmasturbation help create too much DHT and contribute hair loss?

  • @KOPunchopenarena

Ti question number 3, I have read that it in fact does raise dht levels

  • @KOPunchopenarena 1. I don't recommend the use of synthetic isolated vitamin supplements. If you feel a need for supplementation, use superfoods, herbs and whole food vitamin extracts.

    2. Virgin cold-pressed olive oil has the highest phenol content which is what you want soaking into your scalp. Don't waste money on crap quality food in general let alone olive oil if you want the best results in health pursuits.

    3. Absolutely not, there is no mechanism of action that I have ever seen that...

  • @SecretsOfLongevity ...indicates that masturbation causes a rise in DHT. Ejaculation DOES however cause a drop in free testosterone according to a couple of studies.

  • @cbertram11 These are lifestyle problems and without knowing a full rundown of everything you eat/ate growing up, exercise levels, career stresses, relationship stresses and much more it's impossible to answer just in these youtube comments :p

  • when you say no-beans you mean all kind of beans? even green beans?

And you mean also raw sprouted beans? Like lentils, chick peas, green peas, etc?

    Thanks!

  • @crimangione No green beans and green peas are vegetables and they digest fine. It's pulses or beans that make you fart that I'm referring to, lol.

  • @SecretsOfLongevity :)THANKS!!

  • what do you think about using a saw palmetto/ nettle root combination?

  • @seanbraasch As I said IN the video I am against the use of saw palmetto.

  • @SecretsOfLongevity I see. I wasn't sure if you meant the use saw palmetto by itself so I questioned if using nettle root with saw palmetto somehow might help prevent the increase in estradiol caused by saw palmetto alone. I will stick with nettle root only since I have noticed slight side effects from saw palmetto over the past 6 months.

  • cool man

  • so basically, im going on a low carb / ketogenic - like diet, eggs, fish, veggies, i have olive oil in my diet also

i found that when i went on a ketogenic diet last year to lose weight

my hair was the thickest its been in a while and i was less bloated etc

i think this diet is healthier for u to be honest.

  • this was prolly the best hair-loss video ive seen

Im 21 and my hair seems to be thinning and possibly balding, and i try to eat the best i can, i never eat junk food, processd food or anything, no alcohol or drugs

im glad that the problem can be solved naturally and by not cutting out protein, which i need for my fav hobby of bodybuilding

  • @kramer911 Good luck I hope things improve for you :)

  • I work at Merck and I can assure you that Propecia is safe !

All these doctors who are reporting adverse-reactions to the FDA ... need to STOP !!!

If you cant prove how Propecia causes Impotence .. then you should NOT report adverse-reactions !

Merck is being confronted by several class-action lawsuits that threaten the existence of our company !

If doctors have concerns about the safety of propecia... then dont prescribe it ... but FOR GODSAKES dont contact the FDA !

  • @theIibertines91 I hope your evil scum of the Earth company burns in hell, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

  • Hey Zak I am having issues with trying to order from the Hyperionherbs site...they dont have credit card options and my pay pal is not working with them

  • @redlabl Then you need to contact them as it's not my company.

  • Hey Zak that website to order Nettle Root, they also sell it in powder form. Can I drink that powder form in a glass of water like a tea or I would have to do something 1st? Also is the powder form just as strong as the raw roots?

  • @redlabl The powder is just the chopped up roots, you'd need to prepare the powder as a tea or tincture like the coarser roots.

  • You know, you provide EXCELLENT info, brother, and thanks for the links for nettle root. i just put an order in through your link and I'm VERY glad to see that it is also ORGANIC!!! Keep up the GREAT WORK, brother- very useful info! :-)

  • Hey Zak that link that you gave about nettle root, do they sell it as capsules? They don't describe how it is sold... they only go by OZ or Lbs

  • @redlabl It's the whole herb you have to make a tea or tincture out of it. I have a video on how to make herbal teas you can search for if you need the instructions.

  • Ultimately the problem is not DHT in baldness, its the genetic sensitivity to DHT at the receptor sites and the resulting inflammation. A lot of people who tried the natural route say they've had success working on inflammation rather than messing with hormonal activity. Some swear by a combo of curcumin and trans resveratrol and taking alpha lipoic acid at meals to control insulin for example. The curcumin/res helps me to a degree - definately reduces fallout but my hairs continue to thin sadly

  • Drugs like propecia lower circulating DHT. Bloodwork shows it increases free T but leave more T to convert to estradiol hence gyno symptoms complaints for some. Saw palmetto does not alter blood DHT but works at receptor sites, either by blocking DHT or the 5-a-r enzyme in the tissue - how it works isn't really clear. However on SP, even some men get estrogenic effects for some reason - perhaps it inteferes too much with DHT blockage at receptor sites.

  • although nettle root supposedly contains aromatase blocking properties, these are very mild in comparison to its binding of sbhg which causes free estrogen levels to increase unfavourably. nettle looks good on paper but in practice men have reported gyno symptoms with bloodwork results to show abnormal increases in estrogen levels. the sbhg binding also causes free testosterone to increase but this results in increased DHT levels. in short, nettle increases DHT and estradiol (bad for hair)

  • @snelopy Do you have any links to these types of claims, because nettle root is supposed to also block the production of 5-alpha reductase and thus reduce DHT product from free T.

  • @SecretsOfLongevity It's confusing I know. I've read up on many hair loss and muscle forums and the general consensus seems to be be it increased hair loss and from bloodwork results, it increases estradiol. The alpha reductase blocking is very mild in comparison to its binding to SBHG.

  • @SecretsOfLongevity The only study I've found where it proved effective for 5-a-r was in combination with pygeum, but not on its own and this was for prostate not hair. I can't find any studies for its efficacy on hair loss or lowering circulating DHT - if anything it works only at receptor sites on tissue.

  • LAWSUITS ARE STARTING AGAINST MERCK OVER PROPECIA !!!!

The ASSHOLES at Merck knew that their drug (Propecia) caused Impotence and they still went to market with their poison-pills !!!

These pricks should face criminal-charges for their actions !!!!!

  • hi man i need your help i dont know where to buy the nettle root from? shud i get stinging nettle root, or just nettle root? how much shud i get (mg capsules i mean) ?

  • hi man, sum great info there! i noticed the link u gave for nettle root was organic. i cant buy it from that link cos im in the uk. cud u tell me if amazons bio health nettle root wud be ok?dus it need to be organic? wud really appreciate it if u replied asap! thanx man

  • I just want to thank you for your efforts.

  • Do you recommend taking nettle root in capsule form or a tea to drink? And what about using nettle root tea topically? Thanks

  • @TheSooz2008 Either capsule, tincture or tea, whatever you can consistently do. I am not aware of it having an effect topically.

  • what about rosemary oil? ive been massaging it into my scalp.

ps, thanks for the amazing advise

  • You are a wealth of information! Thank you for sharing. I have been taking nettle and saw palmetto supplements and plan to add horsetail to my supplement regimen in the new year. My hair loss has completely stopped & i'm currently regrowing!

  • @Discodumpling dude u serious? where did u buy em from? pleae help im losing my hair!

  • @Discodumpling dude! can you tell me where u got all ur stuff from? im havin trouble knowing what kind of nettle root to get, whether it needs to be organic, the same goes for the palmetto n horsetail etc. cud u help me man?

  • I see you don't recommend saw palmetto, what about a nettle root saw palmetto combo?

  • Hypogonadism causes hair loss.

  • @StarcraftAlphaBeta Interesting, that's why it's important for people to rely on these testosterone lowering drugs and hair tonics!

  • @SecretsOfLongevity Hair thins and falls because of the DHT presence in scalp. And if this hormone keeps rising then you will see thinning more often. There is only one way to stop the loss: Propecia or Saw Palmetto. But if you 're a man you will become impotent sooner or later. Mezotherapy is the only TEMPORARY cure for thinning. There is no ther way. If there was a reversable proven method, it would make at least one billion dollars a year for that company.

  • @Trinder3467 If you watch the video all the way through you'll understand why I don't recommend the use of Saw Palmetto and mention a better alternative which does the same thing MINUS its estrogen raising effects. Saying a man will become impotent sooner or later is absolute bull shit. The only way a company can be a billion dollar a year company is if it can patent a drug. You can't do that with herbs. Factor in the fact that hair loss, like every health issue, can have multiple causes...

  • @Trinder3467 ...and thus multiple cures, you have some people that get benefits from one thing and for others it doesn't work. That's why this video addresses a whole lifestyle program, not just one "magic-bullet" cure-all like the drug companies wish to promote.

  • @SecretsOfLongevity Yeah, I understand. But let's be honest it doesn't seem like you have the androgenic alopecia so it's easier for you to maintain better hair health. MPB is the same as Diabetes. If you have it, you can only reduce the frequency of fall, but never CURE it. We have to agree on that. And Propecia and any anti-androgens WILL make you impotent because DHT is responsible not only for hair but for a man's erections. Reducing DHT levels lowers libido, sperm count,

  • @Trinder3467 I've met several people who have reversed their hair loss and returned to a full head of hair and have also consulted with people on how to do this. I have never had hair loss personally, no. DHT is the most powerful androgen, yes, but free testosterone is mainly responsible for the sex drive, not DHT. You can raise free T. while blocking the conversion to DHT and Estradiol (propecia and saw palmetto don't block the conversion to Estradiol and thus lowers over androgens).

  • @SecretsOfLongevity .... shrinks the prostate, and eventually you will have trouble getting "it" up. I'm only 25 and my DHT rose only 145 points above. But my Endocrinologist, Andrologist and a Urologist told me that it's still not the factor for hair loss. They also forbid anti-androgens. So, yes, even the other drug that you are offering will cause male health problems. Hair stimulaiton is the only proven method. It's called "Mezotherapy".

  • @Trinder3467 I'm not offering any drugs, nettle root combined with the other things I am advocating do wonders for people. If you are not up for the challenge of a complete lifestyle (and in your case belief in the conventional medical paradigm) overhaul, you will find it difficult to get succes with this.

  • @SecretsOfLongevity I have personally tried exercise, healthy food, numerous polivitamins, zinc, etc. (still taking), anti-dandruff shampoo, head massages with the tips of fingers, drinking plenty of water, went to multiple hair clinics. It may work only slighty. You grow your hair, as you lose it. In my cae it's thinning while growing. I still may take a shot at Saw Palmetto, but at last. After a head-wash I feel clean and great. But the next day a firey, itchy, numbness....

  • @SecretsOfLongevity .... attacking my hair follicles. So basically I have tried to cure this with natural methonds. It doesn't work that well for me, hormones play the major factor. You see my dillema? in order to stop DHT I have to drink an anti-androgen. But doctors won't let me at the risk of going weak and impotent. I can never decide. Overall, I hear you but since we're men we're gonna deal with hair loss our whole live. Some sooner, some later on. It's like diabetes.

  • @Trinder3467 You haven't listened to a single word I've said. I give suggestions and advice, if you don't want to follow it, not my problem. You are holding on to many false beliefs about health.

  • Comment removed

  • @SecretsOfLongevity ....have asked numerous types of doctors about Saw Palmetto and Propecia. Been to three different trichologists, spend money on lots blood tests and vitmains. Let's do this I'm going to start this Mezotherapy (you can google what it is). If I see any positive change I will be sure to let you know, might be interested for one of your videos. If not. I will give you a gold medal for your methods. Write to you later...

  • What about having long hair? How do you sleep with a towel draped in olive oil? or... do you not squirt the bottle or dab it on the towel, but directly add to scalp?

  • @Arfat On the scalp.

  • Green tea capsules are also crusial to halt hairloss!!!

  • hey Zac, l think what you said is to be accurate..l have been using olive oil for about a month now and l have to say l've seen inprovents n my hair..why are dairy products not good for your hair?? also should l mix coconut oil with olive oil to make it ,ore effeective?/

  • @pmount07 Dairy increases DHT production which has been fairly thoroughly linked to hair loss. I have never looked to see if coconut oil has the properties of reversing hair loss. You could try it and see. It wouldn't have a negative impact.

  • @SecretsOfLongevity got it. Now my next question is about brushing your hair. I read that brushing your hair can help promote hair growth? should l avoid milk?? and l use head and shoulders shampoo, should l continue using it??

  • @pmount07 Read a few comments down about head and shoulders.

  • @SecretsOfLongevity l would like to make a consultation with you via the phone???

  • @pmount07 Click the drop down menu and you can find the link to the page on my site where you can set that up.

  • @SecretsOfLongevity l watched this video and the other video where you talk about neddle root. l also have did my research about remedies of hair loss. l have been applying olive oil and most recently aloe vera..l have to say my hair feels a lot thicker on top and l only shampoo my hair about twice a week..ls that good or less??

  • @pmount07 That's a good amount, just avoid using chemical based shampoo.

  • @SecretsOfLongevity what are some shampoos should l avoid??

  • @pmount07 Any that you can buy in a grocery store or drug store.

  • @SecretsOfLongevity l do heads stands @ least twice a day for about 2min also l try to get an hour of cardio 3-4times a week..lm trying to get as much blood flow to my head as possible

  • @SecretsOfLongevity Reprod Biol. 2002 Nov;2(3):277-93.... Coconut/ and its oil, systemically consumed, have been shown to promote heart health, facilitate weight loss, regulate thyroid function and metabolism, improve immune function, and for our purposes inhibit both 17B-HSD and 5 alpha reductase ,precursors to both androstendione (a big player in Hair Loss.) and DHT activity.

  • @adkpinecone Excellent stuff! Do you think it has similar actions when applied topically?

  • @adkpinecone - thanks - is is there any benefit in applying coconut oil directly to the hair?,

  • man im loss maby u can help me out my moms dad has a full head of hair so it wouldnt b genetic? nd i dnt consume much dairy bt i do eat alot of patatoes could that b y? nd its good or bad to have dht?

  • @estbroadway I have a link in the description about how you can set up phone consultations with me.

  • Could my head and shoulders shampoo be contributing to my receding hairline along with all the other bad habits I have (carbs, etc.)?

  • @Arfat Very much a possibility. Head and shoulders is all chemicals.

  • You mentioned olive oil and kenyon mixture to be left on scalp over night, would one have to shampoo this out the next morning or just rinse out?

Is coconut oil as good or better for messaging into the scalp?

  • @moloneyphilip Cayenne not Kenyon. It doesn't have to be overnight but that might be easiest for some people. It could be left in for about 1-2 hours or so. Yeah shampooing it out will remove the oil. Rinsing it won't get it out. Coconut oil doesn't do the same thing of drawing DHT away from the follicles like olive oil does.

  • @memoryglitch You obviously can't even recognize the value of what I cover in the video. You were attracted to watch it for some reason and instead of asking a question about some of the things I suggest trying out to see if they help you had the audacity to try to tell ME that your one lone example (which is not how scientific inquiry works) trumps all of the research I've done on looking into male pattern baldness and the success I've had with dozens of clients.

    That is arrogance.

  • @memoryglitch You'RE referring to a personal experience of your family. Nothing I said in this video should lead you to believe that 100% of men whose mother's fathers who have full heads of hair will also have full heads of hair. Use a bit of logic and simple reasoning in your thinking.

  • hmmm i question the accuracy of your research. The only thing that reduces the rate of hairloss is to destress.

  • @solidserpant You obviously have done no research yourself because a few simple searches on anything I spoke about in the video will give you all of the proof you need. Stress is a very important thing to reduce in your life, but their is a massive body of research on the hormonal component as well. Then there is also nutrient deficiency and insuline can play a factor as well.

  • I`m 24 and I`ve been using minoxidil and Propecia since I was 18. Consequently, my facial hair growth is tragedy. I have something on my face but it`s not that much to call it beard. I started using natural recipes to control my hair loss and I want to follow your instructions. Is there any hope for me to have normal beard in near future?

  • @Khoroush Hard to say. Some people have found Elk Antler from surthrival (you can find a link in the description under "YOU CAN SUPPORT MY WORK BY PURCHASING PRODUCTS..." to surthrival) has increased their facial hair growth however I suspect since it raises the levels of all androgens it may speed up hair loss... You could always give it a try while doing the olive oil, scalp massage and other practices to prevent hair loss.

  • Can you write again, please: Why is nettle root extract better than saw palmetto extract?

(Sorry, but I´m not a native English or American(not my mother language) and you speak very fast. Thank you for the good advices.

  • @robgreen12345 -I disagree, DMSO is wonderful. And using it with MSM is evven better. Also, Vit C should be taken with Vit K to help it work in your system

  • @robgreen12345 What is MSN? :)

  • You are awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:)

I just have one problem. I live in sweden and I dont know where i can buy the saw palmetto and nettle root, an which to buy (what brand). IS there a webshop that ships to sweden that you could recommend and link to?

  • @Searchinganswers I link to them in the drop down menu as I mention in the video. I don't recommend the use of saw palmetto in the video.

    :)

  • You just said, meats & dairy are bad, but go PALEO?? Wut? So do you believe in the fructose is bad no matter what? Or do you believe that fructose is only bad if you're eating high fat, high protein?

  • @RawChanneLife Where di I say meat was bad? Dairy increases DHT production. Fructose should not be very high in our diet at all.

  • can women take nettle root ?

  • @foziaaanwarr Absolutely, it's preventative to breast cancer as it blocks testosterones conversion to estradiol.

  • What root did he say? I could not hear.

  • u SAID THAT MEN WITH ALOT OF DHT ARE STRONGER RIGHT? OOPS CAPS.

  • @Searchinganswers I said studies have shown that DHT is a major factor for achieving maximum muscular strength. DHT has about 3x more androgenic activity then free testosterone when in comes into contact with androgen receptors anywhere in the body. Great for muscles but bad for the scalp if you happe nto have an abnormally large amount of receptors there.

  • What if your father, all of his brothers, and his father is bald??

    Will you be bald too??

  • @ImmaEdwardAlric There's never any one cause of anything in matters of the body. IT certainly increases your predisposition to balding however.

  • @SecretsOfLongevity

Okay so what if your entire father side is bald, but your mothers entire side has hair??

  • @ImmaEdwardAlric What did I just say in my last comment as well as in the video?

  • What are your thoughts on Revivogen. I just watched their Doctor talking about his product being all natural topical formula.

  • @fan5tastic It looks alright except as any commercial shampoo it's going to have tons of toxic chemicals mixed in with the therapeutic ingredients.

  • There is an exception when it comes to dairy and IGF-1. and that is Whey Protein Concentrate. It does not increase IGF-1 levels and is a great source of protein.

  • Where do you find the nettle root extract? I wasn't able to find it on Hyperion.

  • @rcuomo I don't recommend buying tinctures in general because they're overpriced and weak. If you buy the bulk herb from Mountain Rose Herbs through the link in the description box you can make your own very easily. If you need some help doing that just send me a PM and I'll give you instructions on how to make it at the right dosage etc.

  • zinc+b6+saw palmetto+beta sitosterol+Nizoral shampoo

  • @arabelija Hi

how old should you be to take that..

    and did it help you?

    thanks

  • @arabelija does that combination work?

  • Wait, why wouldn't nettle root and saw palmetto work well together?

  • @falafelstand They could and often are used together, however you're still going to get an estradiol raising effect from it.

2 tbsp of nettle root in 1 litre of water simmer for 30 minutes, drank in 3 portions over the course of the day or 20-40 drops (1 squirt) of a 1:2 strength tincture taken 3 times a day is fairly standard. Could maybe do 2 squirts 3x a day if you noticed no effect (but do just 1 at first and increase only after 3 weeks if no effects are observed).

  • So if I could only use one supplement to combat hair loss (Androgenetic alopecia), it should be Nettle Root? I've been researching this to death and almost went with Saw Palmetto + Biotin (for the heck of it). I've read about the man-boob thing though so what you are saying about increased estrogen makes sense. What daily dosage of NR do you recommend?

  • I've been using Propecia for over 7 years. I've done a ton of reading & research during that time.

Much of what this guy says has some validity.

What I've found after years trolling through the medical literature with some degree of consistency is that DHT triggers an attack by the body's immune system against supseptible hair follicles once it binds to it. Wish I had the space to go into more detail. The burning/itching sensation balding men feel in their scalps is inflammation.

  • Thanx again 4 the quick reply, also what is ur view on some claims that he shou wu has high levels of Mercury, also how much and is a good daily dose of the extract powder to take daily thanx again?

  • @haversham12 I've never heard of he shou wu containing mercury. If certain sources do it would be because of processing or some additive, not the plant itself. For any product it should have the dosage listed on the bad/bottle. It varies with the strength of the extract.

  • Ok cool, i might purchase some, but i am a bit confused on which source to get it from on your web page there's a few i have had a look at including Hyperion herbs and mountain rose herbs the second is much better value but both seem sell a good product, what is your advise?

  • @haversham12 Depends on whether you want to bother making a tea (mountain rose herbs sells the whole herb) or if you want to premade extract that Hyperion sells. You can add a teaspoon or so at a time straight to smoothies, water or food and it's the equivalent of a cup of the tea made from the whole root.

  • @SecretsOfLongevity , gona try both, but for the tea, how much fo ti root should i use for a daily brew preferably in grams, i ll use the premade extract on days when i don't brew the root thanx?

  • @haversham12 1 once per litre of water is a standard amount for herbal decoctions.

  • very good info as usual, ur advice would be appreciated, i am taking nettle root along with beta sitosterol, instead of saw palmetto, is that gona have the same effects as u described 4rm the saw palmetto, also i ve used he shou wu on & off, but stopped using it because some research suggest it has high estrogen effects, thinking of ordering 4rm the link provided, but what could i take along with it which could reduce the estrogen effects, thanx

  • @haversham12 He shou wu is only very mildly estrogenic, it's because of the black bean sauce that the root is simmered in. He shou wu is rouhly 9 parts he shou wu and 1 part of the sauce so it's quite minimal. The nettle root would counteract any estrogenic effect by raising free testosterone. Using beta sitosterol instead of saw palmetto is good.

  • Lol at someone mentioning Mercola's bald head. HAHA HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAH.

  • The inflammation caused by chornically high blood sugar promotes the chronic presence of high levels of cortisol (which can promote fat gain and subsequent high estrogen production) as well as both types of inflammatory cytokines which are proven to attack the endothelial cells in the hair bulb. So yes, for someone who's genetics and metabolism don't tolerate high carb, eating too many high GI carbs can cause hair loss, amongst other things.

  • @spenc193 Well explained!

  • @SecretsOfLongevity Meat will make u bald in the long term, as it will also damage your blood vessels when under stress. As a matter of fact there is no diet that will make u healthier , after tons of research and years of being raw, paleo eater etc. This is the main advice I can give you. Yes Paleo diets are great for managing blood sugar but they are detrimental for artheroscleroris and slowly adds plaque to your arteries. Of all the diets present HHI is the best but still not perfect and hard

  • @Marraudor Atherosclerosis is simply not caused by flesh foods. You've been listening to Loren Cordain haven't you!

  • @SecretsOfLongevity No , Im sorry to shatter your dreams but its a fact. Saturated fats damage the endothelium cells in your arteries causing them to produce less nitric oxide. Also it gradually can build up plague on your artery's. There is no good diet except then a balanced one, and this is what thousands of nutritionist say who also tried, low fat, no fat , 801010, paleo diet, HHI diet etc. I predict it will take u 2 or 3 more years to figure it out yourself, just like I did.

  • @Marraudor If you'd like to debate with me on the topic by all means post a video response WITH references to your claims. I don't spend my debunking myths in the comments. Don't think for a second I have "dreams" or I am attached to a belief system built up around this as you insinuated. I let the facts speak for themselves and adjust my understanding of health accordingly.

  • @SecretsOfLongevity Ok, no problem man , let the facts speak for themself... Chances are you will never have complications. But chances are that you will have complications like : 1) inflammation of the scalp 2) reduced aerobic capacity and red blood cells 3) More susceptible to prostate cancer 4) more susceptible to chronic heart disease and plague built up. I couldn't care less what you eat, but at least I can give viewers a counterargument because to be honest thats what we REALLY NEED.

  • @Marraudor Then post a video response, you can make all sorts of claims in the comments and it is difficult to reference and back oneself up because you can't post links as well there is limited space. You could even write a blog post or an article, let me know about it and I'll respond in video wit ha link to your page. I'm all for open discussion!

  • If a high carb dieter has perfect, thick hair it is because they are not genetically prone to insulin or sugar handling problems. Their metabolisms suit either high carb diets, or more specifically the types of carbs they are eating (probably not primarily grains). For someone who's metabolic type does not suit carbohydrates, then a diet high in fast digesting carbs like grains will cause significant levels of inflammation due to chronic high blood sugar.

  • Bravo!

    another brilliant video--
