  • I'm 35 years old now and I remember wearing out the vhs tape from watching so much. Damn. I wish I could go back to 1986.

  • This was my favorite scene of the movie. I think this race was even better than the final race. The race combined with the song "thunder in your heart" is so inspiring.

  • I love this movie

  • possibly the best movie sound track of all time!!!!

  • I tell ya one thing, that song makes me wanna do about 500 push ups, tear my bike apart and grease the bearings, eat a bowl of cereal while wearing my jt gloves, then masterbate in a tube sock and shove it in the bottom of the hamper.

  • Was that hollywood mike miranda who fell in the pond?

  • "thunder in your heart" John farnham

  • Awesome, wheres my BMX?! Im going to do some jumps!

  • Holy shit! I forgot how energetic this film was. Else for that Lori girl she was hot! I still wouldn't mind a bmx chick as a girlfriend to this day!

  • its actually spelt CRU JONES..........just saying

  • its actually spelt spelled......... just sayin

  • CREW JONES IS RAD!!!

  • memories memories

  • Its the 80's music that does it for me.

  • if there was any justice in the world this would be one of those films that gets an anniversery edition put out every 10 years. All hail the powa of RAD!

  • @GMC1022 I agree . I want a DVD copy but refuse to buy a bootleg off of e-bay thats not real , or they want 90 bucks for a VHS . I still have hope to get a copy . My mom was a video store manager in the '80's and when this came in i watched it and have been a fan of it since .

  • this movie is epic!!!! i could watch the last part over and over, when cru crashes and makes an incredible comeback!!!

  • I didnt know Tomax and Xamot from G.I Joe was in this...

  • dude this movie made me take my training wheels off my bike when i was a kid.

  • The music in this film was as iconic and the story. It all fits hand in glove.

  • Does anyone notice/care that he cheats the entire race?

  • He had to make it.....So much pressure......

  • i noticed, but the feel good music(john farnham-thunder in your heart)makes u forget and not care, even the end race technically he would have lost if bart didnt stop for him!

  • the best MOVIE OF ALL TIME

  • does anyone know if they sell this movie on dvd plz let me know ??

  • yea, they do. but you gotta buy it online. they dont sell it in stores.

  • That"s a very long track as compared to todays tracks which last for only 10 sec.

  • w w w . billallenrad . c o m

  • This video might be the most 80s thing ever!

  • Haro Master as well

  • don't forget about Dyno

  • Oh yeah, can't forget about them. Hollywood Mike Miranda rode a Dyno in this, right?

That guy wondering about the bikes should watch the helltrack clip. They show all bikes in the intros before the race.

  • Does anybody know what kind of bikes these are?? I dont know what was around in 86.

  • Mongoose, Redline, Diamondback, Hutch, GT

  • its still not available...

  • Hey, did you ever find out where to get a copy?

  • i remember watching this flick when i was about 12. it5 was a fairly old movie even then when i started watching it but, cru jones used to be my hero. we used to go down to the cornfields build jumps all day, then come home and watch RAD or Snowboard academy. both very very EPIC films.

  • song is so cool.

I used to BMX when I was a kid

  • Absolute Classic....I got the chills watching this again. Cru Jones is RAD!!!

  • ...its kinda wierd, Cru cut through the pack of bikers by doing short cuts through the woods and crashed the second time and then went outside of the wood pilings towards the finish line and no one said anything...when I BMXed that was an automatic DQ for missing a jump or going around a jump

  • "He wants cru jones one on one!"

fukn love this flick. Gonna order it this week.

  • IT seems like yesterday I was on my mongoose listening to this Cassette tape and feeling like I was in the movie! haha. I cannot imagine my early years without this movie. Just amazing still... Everyone should watch this film at least once. :)

  • EPIC

  • Did this ever go to dvd?

  • great movie here

  • Why find another song when this one by John Farnham is so AWESOME!?!?

  • i agree john farnham is the greatest singer of all time and this song is the greatest feel good song, but hay he also sang Thunder in your heart in the movie so there were actually to great songs,'break the ice and Thunder in your heart'

  • OK... could they not have found at least 1 other song?

  • thepiratebay org/torrent/3699398/Rad.1986.HDTV.DVDR-G4L

  • I'm about to do a major zoning out period where I'm going to go rent this movie and hide away in my house all weekend and watch it. Just zone out to my childhood.

  • @Eight1Eighty2

    My follow up to this..

I rented the movie one Friday. Then asked a family friend's son if I could borrow his bike til Sunday. I told him I would be doing minor riding around my yard.

I woke up Saturday morning and watched. I was hyped, so I went and took the bike out in my yard and rid in circles doing jumps just like I did when I was a kid. My imagination ran wild the same way it did when I was young.

I realized I have not changed one bit over the last 20+ years.

  • Anyone else bummed there was no Hell Track at the Olympics? :-)

  • That would have been great.

  • Why didnt they make a real RAD 2

  • this video makes me want to have some babies and name them Cru to honor this legendary film and the spirit of Cru Jones!

  • i cant find my vhs :(

  • man i watch this movie so much back in tha day on HBO THANK,S WHO EVER LOAD THIS.

  • I shall name my first-born child "Cru Jones!!!"

  • I love when he cuts between the posts to cut time and starts to haul ass during the final stretch. Bad ass!!

  • This movie will NEVER get old to me. I own a VHS copy and watch it every couple months. Grew up watching it and riding. Am I lame that these songs STILL get me pumped up? I want to go ride now!!!

  • totally agree dude.. haha

  • This was my FAV movie as a kid!!!!! Thx for posting it!

  • 80s were fucking awesome.

  • song is pretty kool

  • "And though the goin' is rough, you're going home as a heroooooooo!" - Fellas it just doesn't get any better than that!

  • There's thunder in every one of these posters' hearts.

    Every move is like lightning.

  • The 80's were like another world.... BMX movies, Talking cars, white guys named Magnum and Hannibal. It just doesn't get any better....

  • I don't know about you guys but when i was a kid i would watch this movie every day and then hit the streets hard on my BMX....I wanted to be Cru Jones!!!!!

  • same here!!!

  • I have it on the computer I downloaded it from limewire, but I can't copy it to dvd.

  • I remember I was confused the first time I saw Luke put his arm around his girlfriend when I was a kid. I thought it was another dude.

  • HAHAHA! Seriously that chick is really dudeish.

  • Bart almost bites it twice for being a flashy, cocky bitch. I love the shitty track through the woods. This is my favorite part of the movie.

  • Its available at decent quality on IMESH then copy it to DVD

  • Hahaha DVD don't make me cry! It's not even available on DVD!!!! VHS on Ebay though......fork out about 60 bucks :)

  • I honestly think that somone should make a second RAD movie or even re-make this one. From what ive heard this is one awesome movie!

Anyone know where i could download it or buy it on dvd?

  • Luke, don't mess up that helmet, it's my only one.

  • me too man, great movie.

  • this scene made me the man i am today. we must produce the next rad

  • I've heard they made a sequel.

However I refuse to watch it, because nothing could beat or come close to this one.

    So, no.

They should just make it a DVD.

  • his shortcut in the final round, on the concrete, over the orange tape...i could live my life that way.

  • Shortcuts are the name of the game in a capitalist economy, and critics said this move wasn't deep...

    ...critics are fools...

  • I had a webco when i was younger.I love it when the kid finds that shortcut thru the trees.

  • great movie!

  • I will eliminate your enemies for a copy of this movie....

  • yeah i cant find this movie anywhere, sucks

  • Is that a pre-Homer "woohoo" at 2:57? Now this movie rocks even more!

  • RAD was by far one of the best movies ever created..totally under rated, its a shame more people don't know about this flick

  • That song is so Rad, that they used it every friggin race! Why can't they make movies like this anymore :(

  • there were two songs break the ice for the end race and thunder in your heart (from rocky)for the qualifying races,

  • What a cheater!

  • THAT WAS RAD!

    Makes me wanna start racing.

but i dont no where to go in uk.

mtb freerider by choice, bmx at heart

  • I LOVE RAD!!!!!! i bought it for 90 bucks at the amoeba!!! it was fucken worth it! we're planning to make a copy and resell it for 90 :D again teehee!

  • @lepe92

    how about uploading RAD

  • go to google video type in rad the full movie is there first one that comes up :D

  • pretty sure RAD is the best movie ever made. ever.

  • I paid 24.99

  • I once bought the copy my local video store had. They knew how hard it was to get and charged $90 for it. Well worth it to me. Dumbass I have since lost it.

  • My old job used to be a video rental place, I have a mint RAD vhs, as well as other classics(like Kickboxer) Amazing considering this is a totally black area. Rad rental----LOL!

  • Wow i still have my VHS video of this movie from the 80's..Where can you get it on dvd? Im tryin to get all those types of movies on DVD..Can you get BMX Bandits on DVD too? Well atleast I have my local heros to watch.. ECD baby!

  • ebay

  • Really? How much did you pay for it?

  • Cru Jones rules!!!

  • Man I feel real old watching this... I had a REDLINE freestyle bike I used to race my friends in the streets for cash and sometimes lunch... It was dangerous but fun as HELL... I actually cracked the frame after my 100th jump over a nearby creek... then i got into mongoose bike and more off road track racing stuff rather than tricks... best time ever though... wish i could do it again... Peace

  • Eddie Feola GT are you kidding me, wow this really takes me back

  • Holy shit wolfkiller i thought that too... this is one of my all time favorite movies...i wished this came out on DVD.

  • it did....I have it on DVD

  • I have this on DVD. Be careful with it if you get one, because with any little scratches, it will skip and skip.

  • my dude where did you buy it??

  • Great song, great movie. Before I understood the mechanics of riding bikes, I thought shaking the handle bars back and forth made you go faster because of this race.

  • wolfkiller" what you talking about? no offence, they are not shaking there handle bars on purpose, it is somthing that happens naturally when your really trying to go fast! ur pulling and pushing at the same time so it gives the illusion of moving ur handle bars side to side...p.s I am a bmx racer and been doing it since I was 13 yrs old..and 30 now..and still racing on and off through out the years....

  • Well duh...I didn't realize that when I was 6 though! :( I found out the hard way by wiping out hard in the street one day, ouch!

  • the song was sung by John farnham (aussie)and the greatest singer of all time if u ask me.

  • oh yea...and then they built a half pipe. that thing was rad. 12 feet high, 20 feet long and 18 feet wide. something like that. when they were building it, 2 or 3 of us punctured our hands and feet with all the nails sticking out of the plywood laying around. haha. good times. RAD rules!

  • the only DVD's of this right now are bootlegs on eBay. decent quality bootlegs, but still bootlegs, no less. my brother & his friends made a dirt track on a HUGE piece of abandoned land next to our house after this came out. i still remember what it felt like to be 8 & go off my first real dirt jump.

  • ha ha ha What does that have to do whith the movie man maybe you or someone of your family lost their job to one of them lol lol lol :)

  • Sure Cru cheated a little...but he's our Cru--Team Rad forever.

  • Awesome movie! It was singlehandedly responsible for all the kids on my street getting BMXs for Christmas as well as the subsequent scrapes and bruises that came the following summer from all of us trying to copy those stunts. I still have my bike too.

  • The movie was filmed in Cochrane and Calgary Alberta, Canada

  • Its either the Mexicans or the Canadians who are always taking jobs from Americans. There should be a LAW!

  • back in the day when us dirt riders thought helmets were lame! hell yeah! 5 stars :D

  • Oh yes, the good old days.

  • Last time I checked, they said it was "Out of print". Seems like the only place you can find it right now is Ebay.

  • This movie is out on dvd

  • They sure don't make movies like this anymore! anybody know where i could get this movie on DVD.

  • crue

  • Hell Yeah! When I was a kid I wanted to be a BMXer and I use to know every word to this movie! I wish I was a kid again! Definitely the Greatest Movie Ever!

  • Hell Yeah! When I was a kid I wanted to be a BMXer and I use to know every word to this movie! I wish I was a kid again! Definitely Greatest movie of all time!
