This was my favorite scene of the movie. I think this race was even better than the final race. The race combined with the song "thunder in your heart" is so inspiring.
I tell ya one thing, that song makes me wanna do about 500 push ups, tear my bike apart and grease the bearings, eat a bowl of cereal while wearing my jt gloves, then masterbate in a tube sock and shove it in the bottom of the hamper.
if there was any justice in the world this would be one of those films that gets an anniversery edition put out every 10 years. All hail the powa of RAD!
@GMC1022 I agree . I want a DVD copy but refuse to buy a bootleg off of e-bay thats not real , or they want 90 bucks for a VHS . I still have hope to get a copy . My mom was a video store manager in the '80's and when this came in i watched it and have been a fan of it since .
i noticed, but the feel good music(john farnham-thunder in your heart)makes u forget and not care, even the end race technically he would have lost if bart didnt stop for him!
you know what sux is that i had the original vhs copy but i lend it to the wrong friend and got the tape back with a surprise recording of softcore porn.man that shit is wrong.
i remember watching this flick when i was about 12. it5 was a fairly old movie even then when i started watching it but, cru jones used to be my hero. we used to go down to the cornfields build jumps all day, then come home and watch RAD or Snowboard academy. both very very EPIC films.
...its kinda wierd, Cru cut through the pack of bikers by doing short cuts through the woods and crashed the second time and then went outside of the wood pilings towards the finish line and no one said anything...when I BMXed that was an automatic DQ for missing a jump or going around a jump
IT seems like yesterday I was on my mongoose listening to this Cassette tape and feeling like I was in the movie! haha. I cannot imagine my early years without this movie. Just amazing still... Everyone should watch this film at least once. :)
i agree john farnham is the greatest singer of all time and this song is the greatest feel good song, but hay he also sang Thunder in your heart in the movie so there were actually to great songs,'break the ice and Thunder in your heart'
I'm about to do a major zoning out period where I'm going to go rent this movie and hide away in my house all weekend and watch it. Just zone out to my childhood.
I rented the movie one Friday. Then asked a family friend's son if I could borrow his bike til Sunday. I told him I would be doing minor riding around my yard.
I woke up Saturday morning and watched. I was hyped, so I went and took the bike out in my yard and rid in circles doing jumps just like I did when I was a kid. My imagination ran wild the same way it did when I was young.
I realized I have not changed one bit over the last 20+ years.
so i watch this scene here on youtube like everyday lol..... hoping that luke will qualify lol...awesome movie! thx for posting it ... never knew soo many felt the same about it.... (4:26 last chance to qualify ....)

Great song, great movie. Before I understood the mechanics of riding bikes, I thought shaking the handle bars back and forth made you go faster because of this race.
wolfkiller" what you talking about? no offence, they are not shaking there handle bars on purpose, it is somthing that happens naturally when your really trying to go fast! ur pulling and pushing at the same time so it gives the illusion of moving ur handle bars side to side...p.s I am a bmx racer and been doing it since I was 13 yrs old..and 30 now..and still racing on and off through out the years....
oh yea...and then they built a half pipe. that thing was rad. 12 feet high, 20 feet long and 18 feet wide. something like that. when they were building it, 2 or 3 of us punctured our hands and feet with all the nails sticking out of the plywood laying around. haha. good times. RAD rules!
the only DVD's of this right now are bootlegs on eBay. decent quality bootlegs, but still bootlegs, no less. my brother & his friends made a dirt track on a HUGE piece of abandoned land next to our house after this came out. i still remember what it felt like to be 8 & go off my first real dirt jump.
Awesome movie! It was singlehandedly responsible for all the kids on my street getting BMXs for Christmas as well as the subsequent scrapes and bruises that came the following summer from all of us trying to copy those stunts. I still have my bike too.
Hell Yeah! When I was a kid I wanted to be a BMXer and I use to know every word to this movie! I wish I was a kid again! Definitely the Greatest Movie Ever!
