LOL..well I wouldn't expect someone that uses the word "retarded" to be able to comprehend how this all works. But thanks for your valued comment.. Happy hunting=)
The FOB is like a marker on the ground to let you know exactly where the animal was standing when the arrow passed through it. The FOB is lying on the ground in that exact spot.
@TopOfTheLine3 I dont use FOBs so my knock will come off..LOL... I use em because they're the best thing I have found to guide broadheads.. But there a few pros from the knock coming off. There are no vanes being pushed through the animal so there's less drag. Marks the spot of impact and can give you direction for the line of the shot.... And its pretty cool to see pop off..
I use beman hunter shafts with super nocks...I had to hone the nocks shink out pretty good for the light to go in smoothly...but still as i push the nock all the way down to the shaft it still pushs my light in the shaft just a little to far..to where i have to find somthing to pull it out some. I still havent found a solution.. thanks for your past reply!
I get them @ Gander Mountain. I believe Bass Pro , Cabelas..etc any large sporting goods place should have them in the fishing department ..It's the push/pull style Thill Bobber Light..
And it aids in giving you a better idea of where you hit the animal since you can see your arrow better. I have also found this too be helpful when tuning my bow..I also use a reflective wrap just in case the light does not work (has yet to happen with the homemade ones)
questions- One is do you have many problems with the light sliding down inside the arrow shaft on impact? Just wondering.
Also, how close to being on can you have the nock? My concern is, is the FOB loose while the arrow is sitting on the string or is the nock holding the fob on just not all the way?
I just wanted to make sure that the fob would be stable as soon as it left the bow. I am going to try this seems pretty cheap.
Just make sure the stopper on the light fits tight..I did have this problem with couple of em that I sanded down..I found using the shank from old/broken stock nocks works the best..
Yes when in the off position the nock sets back about 1/16".. Not sure about other arrows but my FOBs are snug when the nock is not tight..But as soon as you let go of the string, the pressure pushes (turning on) the nock forward closing that gap..So yes the everything is tight an stable before it leaves the bow..
Where can u find them little lights?
jacobstephens4 4 months ago

why would you want the nock to come off when it goes through an animal?

Hello,
How far did you have to drill inside the nock too keep it from pushing your light too far inside the arrow shaft? I am having that problem.
thanks
Bowhunner22 1 year ago
@Bowhunner22
I didnt really have to drill it out. I did use a drill bit and hone the nock out a little to make it smoother inside.
Every brand of nock is different and I've been told that its not easy with nocks for small dia. arrows.

does the home made lighted nock work with easton axis arrows?
j7drake 3 years ago
I have never made any for them.
Is the Axis a small Diameter arrow?
If so I have heard some people getting them to work, But I believe it was little more work getting it to fit properly
sbooy42 3 years ago
yeah it is a smaller dia. arrow.
hey where do you buy the thill lights at?

Im just getting back into hunting since my last hunt 10 years ago. Is this the new wave going around now?
GreenManalichi 3 years ago
Not sure about a new wave..But they are what I've found works best for me...Like most things..some people like em and some don't
sbooy42 3 years ago
So, the lighted nock is just a way of finding the arrow, since the FOB pops off after pass-thru?
I've been doing alot of looking at these FOBs, and they seem too interesting to pass up...I may have to give them a go here.
GreenManalichi 3 years ago
That
And it aids in giving you a better idea of where you hit the animal since you can see your arrow better. I have also found this too be helpful when tuning my bow..I also use a reflective wrap just in case the light does not work (has yet to happen with the homemade ones)
Never hurts to try new things
