I had such great times in the 90's we had everything good shows good cartoons good music everything went bollocks now idiots listen to britney spears and lil wayne i rather die then give into the crap
Ahhhhhh......Louise Wener!!! She was so cute and I loved their first two albums. Too bad she decided to write instead. They were still great. I used to like her her uninhibited sexual nature. Looking as good as she did, she could get away with it. Three albums was not enough. Glad there are others here who remember them because where I'm from nobody does.
I'm not sure you know, I love this song, but - off "Smart", I'm kind of torn between this and Vegas. Why weren't the other tracks off this single on the album? Little Annie - cracking song, so is Disco Duncan.
I'm not usually into short haired brunette British birds with a conservative bent... but Louise Wener...mmmmm. But Harriet Wheeler of The Sundays trumps all UK indie babes. ;) Never got into the whole Justine Frischmann thing, although I did love Elastica's first album (haven't heard the second). Bjork is a turn-off for me (her music's pretty good though). Give me Tanya Donelly (Throwing Muses, Breeders, Belly) or Neko Case anyday.
i firmly believe that the essiential message of this song is rather cruel. one should never indulge in an 'inbetweener' relationship. it can break the heart of the recipient. it is a faling of the songwriters in this instance.
I don't think that is the message of this song. As far as I can make out (whilst drooling over Louise) the song is about being dumped and feeling hurt and bitter about it. And then doing whatever you can to be hurtful back - hence the "Inbetweener" thing. Human nature and all that.....
Lest we forget the Nice Guy Eddie dance on TOTP. A how-to of Brit-pop moves, grimaces and tremors all expertly done by our girl Louise, oh happy days.
I have that on dvd, Noel and Liam were funny fucking cunts on some of the interviews. It pissed me off that it didn't really go into the story behind Suede, Blur, and Elastica which were tied together by love and hate. Why leave such a great story out of a story about British music in the early 90's...that was Britpop.
I was well into Britpop in my teens. After some years I happened to choose to live in London for some years and one day saw that program on TV. I'm back in my country now and just found this clip here. Picked up the England 90 shirt from my wardrobe that's autographed by this vocalist. "Love, Louise". Man, the movement is still in me!!
She's a successful author now, wrote a few books. And yes I definately would. Remember seeing Sleeper in Liverpool Uni 1995 when I was a teen, best years of my life ahhhh.
I swear to God that the only reason anyone really fancied her was because of the betty boo eyes, blink, blink, arn't I sweet etc. Well, it worked for me! Nice pop song.
Makes me want to relive the mid nineties, mainly spend all Saturday derinking and dance to this about mid-night, the frightening thing was I was still sober, youth of today binge drinking, when I was a lad etc...
Oh, he was sniffing around even then, long before POWER - Jon Harris' book "The Last Party" has some quite interesting things to say about "The Thick Of It"-types hanging round Creation and Camden like flies round shite.
I still get this song in my head all the time.
