According to Naomi Kline in her book The Shock Doctrine, there was relative calm that first summer or so. It was not until after Bremmer, US head of the occupation, signed laws privatizing industries and breaking up Iraqi unions, did chaos really explode. Side note: the beheading of Nick Berg came after the photos of Abu Graib made it to the public domain. A direct response to them in fact.
Yeah, it was so many factory playing into that.... it's funny, because when you know little about somethign it's easier to answer a question about it. Once you research it a lot, it doesn't make it simpler... it makes it way more complicated. There was also a void of power and a 3-month window of inaction when nothing was really going on that cause Iraqi's to distrust the CPA, they intiiated De'Bathification and disbanded the military enflamming 100s of thousands, ... yeah a lot of shit
More like disbanding of the Iraqi army (funny that - most Iraqi soldiers didn't resist the invasion because they thought the occupation would still employ them - they only started fighting when the occupation fired them and the jihadists came with money).
This film should be mandatory viewing for every US citizen of high school age and up. The douchebags in the Bush administration who willfully created this disaster should be behind bars and, at the very least, should be prevented from ever having access to power.
Bush jr. wanted to do what his father couldn't...kill Saddam, cause really the US didn't win the first gulf war. They lost. After the Iraqi and American generals signed the peace treaty and details of the no fly zone, the Sunnis saw their chances at getting back at the Kurds and Shiites. Bush sr. celebrated the win, but deep down inside he and his whole administration knew that victory wasn't theirs. Then comes Bush jr., and he wanted to make daddy proud, even though the enemy was not in Iraq.
9/11 was the day who gave birth of the so called "chaos".Its obiusly that USA had some interest in taking over Iraq cuz they runned out of Oil. They needed fast another source.Cuz of this War now the Whole World is affected...now they got a bigger enemy witch is comming from inside:the financial crysis. Agreed. Somehow I don't think that peace and reducing the terrorist threat was their ultimate aim. I take some small consolation from that fact. take care.
Watch the movie to see the eyewitness accounts of the highly respected people hired by Bush to stabilize Iraq. This movie proves that the Bush administration intended on creating chaos in order to create a population who would have no choice but to defend themselves and then be called "insurgents." This is called genocide. The U.S. first took out Iraq elected leader in early 1900's, Sadam was installed. He stopped following orders. Dessert Storm stopped short to give 'em another try.

Also the leader the Baath party had overthrown (not Saddam, he was exiled) was just a leader of another coup. His name was General Abd al-Karim Qasim - he in turn killed King Faisal II, who of course was ALSO not elected (Iraq had NEVER EVER democracy before 2004!).

2 - Kuwait was cheating on the OPEC oil production Quota system, in a premeditated and "deliberate" plan to weaken Iraq and undermine its economy and security. Saddam acted out of frustration, after several calls to Arab leaders. Arab leaders tried to persuade Kuwait to obey the rules and to stop stealing Iraqi Oil but the Kuwait royal family acted with arrogance toward Saddam, in which made them to believe someone behind all this provocations and most likely America. what appeared that the CIA had secret meeting with Kuwait chief Intelligent Khalid AL Sabah how to provoke Iraq a year

This documentary displays the exact intelligence of politicans within the united states...how ignorant can these people get? im SOOOO glad i live in canada, where we dont ignore advice from qualified individuals. Our military program maybe miniture to say the least, but we review EVERYTHING that goes on in afghanistan as our military personnel provide such intel..Impeech your war criminal president and his ilk.. we arnt letting Mulroney slide
amazing documentary..i dont know how people in such power can lie to the world and get away with it...bush has definitely sparked a century long war, and a hatred for american like none other.
Very good film, I served in Iraq from 2004 to 2005 with the Army in SW Baghdad, it was a mess, after two months in country I realized that this war was total BS!!, Iraq was never a threat to us, Bush and his crew lied up a storm to get us into this fiasco, can't wait until King George is out in January, we need a President who is going to get us OUT of there and save our troops lives, we don't need McCain either, he'll just be Bush Part III.
I'm not a fan of Bush/Cheney and and never supported Iraq War II, but I sure think a fair portion of these people are "kiss and tell all" -- they were eager "lets go get'em" team players until things went south and then jumped ship in hope of saving their reputations and future chances of good inside employment. Why were'nt they speaking out in 02 & 03?
No shit. Why weren't these people dissenting publicly during buildup in 02 when questions publicly raised about truth of WMD claims and post-war management plans. Gen Shenseki publicly said "several hundred thousand troops needed to secure & bring order". As we know he was quickly/publicly rebuffed by Wolfowitz and then booted. And besides public questions on WMD claims & post-war management, most in Administration knew there were many private whispers & dissent over truth and good planning
Was NO world condemnation and No cease fire bcz Saddam was serving the devils agenda.
I posted the truth behind the Kuwait invasion.
Al anfal campaign happened in 1987 Saddam was ur friend and the Illegal and Criminal invasion of Iraq happened in 2003!! No one condemned Iraq in fact they accused Iran for it bcz they said the type of gas was used only Iran have it according to again CIA. Since they know which ones they sold to both countries directly or indirectly for experimental y no inquiry
I know how to spell, for some reason i dont care about it on youtube, its not a report to my boss. I assume the people are smart enough to figure out what it says... But now that UR here i guess I was wrong
i watched this last night. it was amazing! enraging to know that most of the problems in iraq were so unnecessary. i recommend this to everyone. if you have netflix, you can watch it for free online like i did. peace!
Its amazing that somehow right wing christian nuts will somehow brand this film a rabbid left wing propaganda. From what I can see most of these people worked for bushie but I'm sure that they have already been vilified by the right as "unpatriotic"
An excellent documentary--probing, engaging, and ultimately depressing. How could we (America) have failed to such an extent? The lack of foresight, deliberate disregard for dissenting (expert)opinion and plans, the callous disengagement by the Washington-based architects from those in the field, are incomprehensible. As presented in this documentary, the results are disastrous and now more than ever there are no easy solutions to this colossal failure.
I think my favourite quote from the film comes at the very end :
"And are you telling me that's the best America can do? No. Don't tell me that."
A colossal mess, and I think there's an argument to be made for the current economic red flags too, as the US's war expendature has infected the entire global market. The UK hasn't just lost £77 billion in one day for no reason.
Could be true, what you say about the Israelies, but this film talks more than enough to raise the red flag and start a full investigation, with or without Israel's involvement. I beleive there is a HUGE' amount of money behind all of this. These films sort of add up. Check out '911 Mysteries'. What's always behind this? Cover-ups to potentially HUGE amounts of money!
The most disturbing thing about all of this is, is 'we really can't leave, not until there is some kind of structure there.' The bush admin. really fucked this place up in more ways then one. If we leave, it's a hot bed for world terrorists to find refuge and they say it will make 911 look like peanuts. Scary stuff. It just amazes me what this admin. has done here. And the new Prez is gonna want to 'pull out' right away? I'm no flag waver, but lets think about this.
That's idiotic. A chaotic Iraq is WAAAYYY more dangerous to Israel than a functioning one. For one thing, the fact that we're bogged down there means that Iran is a lot more powerful. Hell, the decades long hairy eyeballin' those two have been giving each other means that neither of 'em have had time to promote terrorism in Isreal.
And besides, you think the terrorist war game that is currently Iraq is making anybody in Isreal sleep soundly?
The push from Israel for the Iraq war is proven by Mearsheimer and Walt.
The archaic chaos within Iraq is no danger to Israel - how could it be one?
Iran is more powerful now, but next on the list. The fact that the US can't win against Iran is meaningless - they knew they can't win against Iraq and attacked anyway.
i HAVEN'T seen the movie, but i am thinking they dont mention how we fund the insurgency and supply them with weapons, helmets and body armor(according to general petraeus' office).
they probly wont mention the giant money grab that is going on with the contractors.
i bet they wont mention how OUR troops kill innocent civilians or beat them.
neither will it be told about the pro-torture stance our leaders have taken.
The film DOES discuss our troops abusing civilians and torturing detainees, but not in much detail, simply because that's not what the film is about. The biggest point it has to make on that front is to remind us that the majority of people arrested during Marine sweeps for insurgents are just men who happen to be the wrong age. Most of the people in Abu Garab were innocent of any involvement with the insurgency.
Pretty much everything you said and then some, they do indeed mention. But watch this film. I usually don't get these kinds of films, I thought Michael Moore was as good as it got, but this one really shines light on the situation. I recommend it. It's out in video stores now, so not hard to find. I didn't pay much attention, not until I saw this film. Definately a basis to raise lots of questions.
God, how stupid were Bush and his cronies? The answer is in this movie. Major, major incompetence. How could the America that won WWII in 5 years and then occupied Germany, Italy and Japan, have failed so badly in an attempt to manage post-war Iraq?
I think the fact that you had FDR back then might have helped. These days Americans seem to elect politicians on the basis of who they think they'd like to meet socially.
They were perfectly competent. How supportive of this mission do you think the American people would have been if they were not bullied lied to and rushed into the war. They did it this way because it was the only way to do it. If they co-operated with international bodies and embraced proper accounting the oil companies would not be able to rob the Iraqis blind.
Yes...Bush was definetly 'Delusional' back then. Good straightforward movie. Enjoyed it, as it reconfirmed my dis-belief that our leaders and associated lackies don't know what the hell their doing.
That seems to be the case. Is the inarticulate thing that he does just to make it easier later or is he really that stupid and a true puppet. We may never know. With any luck they will get the votes to stop this disaster before he gets out of office.
I an assure you - bush is a stupid puppet of international bankers- the paper trail is there and he's probably fearing for his life if he doesn't do what he's told. He's still a dictator piece of crap though.
What do you mean BACK THEN?? This evil "man" and his cronies continue to rule with an iron fist, he is a butcher, a treasonous piece of crap that has nothing to do with upholding the constitution or the will of the american people.

One conclusion: Rumsfeld basically sentenced so many American soldiers to death due to shear arrogance & incompetance.
In a country with millions of ammunitions he made the decision not to secure those supplies.

Saddam acted out of frustration, after several calls to Arab leaders. Arab leaders tried to persuade Kuwait to obey the rules and to stop stealing Iraqi Oil but the Kuwait royal family acted with arrogance toward Saddam, in which made them to believe someone behind all this provocations and most likely America. what appeared that the CIA had secret meeting with Kuwait chief Intelligent Khalid AL Sabah how to provoke Iraq a year

before the end of Iraq - Iran War. Two years after the end of the Gulf war, George Bush Sr admitted on National TV that America needed a war to revive the economy
Schwarzkopf's command - were responsible for the My Lia massacre in Vietnam and many more massacre in southern Iraq against Iraqi retreated army after the "ceasefire". No one asked about his dad, of course, the other Norman Schwarzkopf who helped "destroy" Iranian democracy in 1953, along with Kermit Roosevelt and 'Monty' Woodhouse.

amazing documentary..i dont know how people in such power can lie to the world and get away with it...bush has definitely sparked a century long war, and a hatred for american like none other.

Devit123 3 years ago
War started in 03 u dumbass
BosnAce 3 years ago
Devit123 3 years ago
They were cowards... didn't wanna lose their jobs.
Some did resign, however... the Sec. of the Treasury, Richard Clarke the counter-terror guy, etc

BosnAce,
War against Iraq and the people of Iraq started 1991 and "never" stopped.
1/1991-3/1991 The first great oil war.
3/1991- 3/2003 The second great oil and Genocidal war (The hidden war).
4/2003-? The third great oil and extermination war.
What's our crime, Blessed by God with Oil but cursed by the rich and powerful opressors.
angham01 3 years ago
"1/1991-3/1991 The first great oil war."
No, it was Iraqi invasion of Iran. Iraqi invasion of Kuwait was the second one.
"3/1991- 3/2003 The second great oil and Genocidal war (The hidden war).
4/2003-? The third great oil and extermination war."
Whoah dude. I thought the only "genocide and extermination war" in Iraq was the Anfal Campaign of 1988?
XBOXHUEG 3 years ago
Was NO world condemnation and No cease fire bcz Saddam was serving the devils agenda.
I posted the truth behind the Kuwait invasion.
Al anfal campaign happened in 1987 Saddam was ur friend and the Illegal and Criminal invasion of Iraq happened in 2003!! No one condemned Iraq in fact they accused Iran for it bcz they said the type of gas was used only Iran have it according to again CIA. Since they know which ones they sold to both countries directly or indirectly for experimental y no inquiry

Also, I rather thought the "friend" rant was supposed to be about the US.
Which was the only country which supplied weapons to Iran (while Iraq was mostly supplied by the Soviet Union and France).

As presented in this documentary, the results are disastrous and now more than ever there are no easy solutions to this colossal failure.

great documentary! recommend it
vraciudude 4 years ago
I think my favourite quote from the film comes at the very end :
"And are you telling me that's the best America can do? No. Don't tell me that."
A colossal mess, and I think there's an argument to be made for the current economic red flags too, as the US's war expendature has infected the entire global market. The UK hasn't just lost £77 billion in one day for no reason.

chequers9 4 years ago

Listen to this discussion, I love it, no bullshit but serious questions.

And besides, you think the terrorist war game that is currently Iraq is making anybody in Isreal sleep soundly?
bobjones864 4 years ago
The push from Israel for the Iraq war is proven by Mearsheimer and Walt.
The archaic chaos within Iraq is no danger to Israel - how could it be one?
Iran is more powerful now, but next on the list. The fact that the US can't win against Iran is meaningless - they knew they can't win against Iraq and attacked anyway.

i HAVEN'T seen the movie, but i am thinking they dont mention how we fund the insurgency and supply them with weapons, helmets and body armor(according to general petraeus' office).
they probly wont mention the giant money grab that is going on with the contractors.
i bet they wont mention how OUR troops kill innocent civilians or beat them.
neither will it be told about the pro-torture stance our leaders have taken.
alansaladan 4 years ago
You are clearly a paranoid guy.
The film DOES discuss our troops abusing civilians and torturing detainees, but not in much detail, simply because that's not what the film is about. The biggest point it has to make on that front is to remind us that the majority of people arrested during Marine sweeps for insurgents are just men who happen to be the wrong age. Most of the people in Abu Garab were innocent of any involvement with the insurgency.
bobjones864 4 years ago
Pretty much everything you said and then some, they do indeed mention. But watch this film. I usually don't get these kinds of films, I thought Michael Moore was as good as it got, but this one really shines light on the situation. I recommend it. It's out in video stores now, so not hard to find. I didn't pay much attention, not until I saw this film. Definately a basis to raise lots of questions.

Desaster is no problem as long as the campaign donators make extraorbitant profits.

God, how stupid were Bush and his cronies? The answer is in this movie. Major, major incompetence. How could the America that won WWII in 5 years and then occupied Germany, Italy and Japan, have failed so badly in an attempt to manage post-war Iraq?
jabel5 4 years ago
I think the fact that you had FDR back then might have helped. These days Americans seem to elect politicians on the basis of who they think they'd like to meet socially.
Duracellman 4 years ago
They were perfectly competent. How supportive of this mission do you think the American people would have been if they were not bullied lied to and rushed into the war. They did it this way because it was the only way to do it. If they co-operated with international bodies and embraced proper accounting the oil companies would not be able to rob the Iraqis blind.
CavemanSynthesizer 4 years ago 4
Maybe because America first killed millions of people and TOTALLY destroyed Germany and Japan in WWII?

They'll just make up a raft of new crap to distract everyone, on top of the bizarre repetition that already occurs. Next stop: Iran!
