  • Thanks for sharing, my home town Slidell, Louisiana which sits across Lake

Ponchartrain from New Orleans. Hurricane Katrina left a third of the town homeless and eighty-five percent of the city damaged.

  • We speak of water, worry it, respect it, thrive on its bounty, exist at its mercy. It is the way of New Orleans and the way of her people. We love the city without hesitation and carry the devotion - despite everything.

  • God Bless the people of Louisiana. This anniversary breaks my heart every year, and moreso this year. The people of Louisiana dont need Obama, they need a Teddy Roosevelt,

  • It was a horrible, helpless feeling to see what was going on during Katrina. Unbelievable when Bush declined Mexico's help who had been relatively unscathed by Katrina & who were only a couple hours away. News crews were able to get in & show us bloated bodies floating in the streets yet action from our gov't was still days away. I will never forget a news video of a body, lying on a small piece of high ground, whom someone had covered with an American flag.

  • we stay here because we love it. thats why

  • The destruction is not here yet.

Read your Bible and be prepared.

    God Bless the World

  • i was working in a drug store and aaron neville walked in...i was on the register and i didn't even pay attention to him...then when he walked out, i realized who it was. he sang at my grandfather's funeral.

  • I remember seeing these images on TV and I was totally glued ... but then seeing the image of the guy floating on his stomach was what got me totally pissed at the slow reaction of our government ... totally uncalled for and I hope we learned and will be prepared once Gustav hits

  • This song makes me proud to be from Louisiana! We've taken alot of hits, but nothing can take us down! We're preparing for another one over the weekend, "Hurricane Gustav".....three years after Katrina!

  • Never get tired of this song or his incredible voice let this be the last song I ever hear..... :)

  • The voice of an angel so right for this poignant video

  • words can not express how sad i feel when i watched the images in '05 and seen the peolpe of these city's and the lack of response from so many others i still to this day cry when i see images of these and i want all those who have lots everything that my thoughts and prayers are with you daily. I only wish i could be down there helping you guys rebuild

    love Cyndi-Canada

  • Aaron Neville's brother and wife have also composed a music video, "Cry, Cry, Cry for New Orleans"...I hope it is still posted here on YouTube for you to see. It's been 2 years this month and after volunteering there you learn the truth about what is NOT being reported in the national news. It is horrific.

  • This ne makes me cry for those who survived Hurricanes Katrina & Rita & are STILL rebuilding almost 3 years later. Randy--thanks for writing this song.

  • this was a great video...it made me cry...a lot of my family was in New Orleans for Katrina...

  • im pretty sure he either got a cut or just let him sing its for a great cause please dont hate

  • I love you Aaron i love that song it means so much to so many people. i heard it on tv for the comercial. looovvvvvveeeeeeeee iiiiii ttttttttttt.

  • This shit makes me SICK. Rita affected us, southeastern La. no power for 10 days, Gas for 6 days then only $10.00 min. no fema for 3, after katrina. FUCK THIS STATE and their local Gov. they are all crooks. But they will get theirs,

sorry SOB 10k's of people were ready to help us, but turned away. HAHA I got one more year here. I will detour this state by all means.. watching this shit just pisses me off even 21 months later. you dont and wouldnt understand. unless you were here.

  • Hi Jimmy....you are right that no one could possibly understand if they weren't there. I don't claim to understand...I am just so sorry for your suffering. I don't know much about U.S. politics but perhaps I will do some reading...our politicians in Canada are assholes too....take care of yourself...

  • That song is haunting and beautiful in a tragic way. I am still blown away when I see the pictures of devastation..as with 9/11, may we never forget those who perished in the wake of Katrina..you are in our prayers....love, Canada

  • What's the name of this song? It is making me cry in addition to the pictures of New Orleans! They are always in my prayers!!

  • Louisiana 1927 By Aaron Neville (originally by Randy Newman)

  • Hard to believe that this happened in America! google this: Gore responds to Hurricane Katrina - 09/03/2005..

Inside the New Orleans airport, Gore organizes the rescue of Hurricane Katrina victims with urgent medical problems. Gore chartered and paid for two planes full of medical equipment and staff, fought his way through FEMA and military resistance in order to airlift 270 people to Tennessee. Who do you think we need as president? Al Gore in 2008
