I think many women are drawn to gay men, simply because it is refreshing to spend time with men or aren't judging you on your shagability. It's even a chance for a girl to play predator or at least be able to be the alpha over a male, in a way that wont illicit resentment

I've no gaydar, truly. If a man acts camp (and not because he's in theatre) - he is acting out of synch of societal expectations. Whatever you define as masculine is not aligned with that behaviour.
David Beckham toting a "man bag" or wearing a sarong is not camp - and I'm well pleased that men can have more options.
Frequently a straight man can be "effeminate" and a gay man "macho", no hard and fast rules.

The problem I think when people try to talk about minorities from a liberal postion is they themselves generalise. Just because it's a positive statement doesn't mean it's not an ignorant statement. When people say they love gay men, I think really? all of them? You've just categorised a whole group of people on their sexuality, to make yourself look better.

I used to ask boyfriends to carry my handbag. This was partly because it was heavy and partly to see their reaction! I loved the ones for whom it was no problem at all! They were really confident and couldn't imagine for a minute that anyone would think it was theirs! I suppose these days it's more normal for men to have handbags...
