The x-piped version offers one of the best sound structures I've heard of a six-banger so far. Any chances to see the setup for those outside of the US?
@ajclark95 Because the Mustang wasn't a just a muscle car. It was also an economy coupe. You know the Mustang was originally designed to be sold and marketed to women on a secretary's salary? And, before you ask "why build a six?" Straight sixes have been around longer than V8s, and are even popular today. They possess incredible reliability and regularly outlast V8 cars. While you're asking "Why?", others are asking "Why not?" Open your mind a bit - you'll find life much more enjoyable.
Hi there I was wondering if I too buy the base kit then i can make my 200 inline 6 sound like this two? how much of a differnci in sound will it mke if i do the y pipe? will it still sound good? what is everything i sould get headers? x pipe ?
You will find the engine specifications in the comments below. This car has a highly modified 6; if your car has the original head and cam, it won't sound exactly like this.
You can call us at 800 503-9428 to discuss the various options.
I was wondering if this set up was the base exhaust kit or the concourse kit? so you have resonators in the front befoe the axle and and behind befor the end? what else do you have were can i find this kit?
This is the dual "Base" kit, with front and rear resonators on each side. The longer resonator/muffler with the quarter-wave tuning tube is in front of the axle and the short resonator is at the rear of the car. You can order the kit from Classic Inlines' website. They also offer headers, X pipes and a wide range of 6 cylinder performance parts.
The exhaust system consists of Classic Inlines dual outlet headers, our X pipe and intermediate pipes with "Arvinode" type quarter wave resonators ahead of the rear axle and 12" resonators just ahead of the outlets. There are NO conventional mufflers. The owner's engine configuration is posted on the Classic Inlines website.
Here is the owner's description of the powertrain:
Owner ID: MustangGeezer
200ci, aluminum head, DUI, 274H, 1.6 rockers, dual out header, C4 with 2800 stall, 3.20 gears
If your 230 is running over 11:1 compression, it will sound very similar. If your engine is running lower (stock) compression ratio, it will not sound this nasty. ;-)
I've done more work to it this past winter and I fully expect it to run 13.90's when the track opens up in a couple of weeks.
The car weighs 2708 lbs with me and a 1/4 tank of gas and its running RAS 1.6 ratio aluminum rocker arms. Its actually running 3:80 gears and a 3500 rpm stall convertor.
The engine information is posted on the Classic Inlines site. I know he is building a fresh engine this winter; not sure what is different from the previous configuration.

No test results yet. We should have 1/4 mile results by August 10. The X pipe really smoothed out the sound. We expect slightly better 60 foot times. We will post results as soon as we have them.
Baseline runs were 14:42 @ 93 MPH with 2 1/4" Flowmaster 40 Series mufflers dumping in front of the rear axle. This system has 2 1/4" "Arvinode" tuned resonators with over-axle pipes and rear resonators and turndowns at the rear bumper.
The single system is next on the development list. Stay tuned!
very interesting steed...sounds like it performs better with the X-pipe. Wouldn't a single line set-up, dumping before the rear, produce more power? Has it been dynoed?
Does the Arvinode exhaust come stock without an x-pipe?

Classic Inlines might have some customer feedback on Arvinodes installed with a 250. You can check out their forums at classicinlines(dot)com

the x pipe one sounds the best there is less pop and cracking out the exhaust and still makes some noise
theclubman 2 years ago
The neighbors will definitely hear you if you run straight pipe!
But you might not like all that noise inside the cabin! :-)

hey i have a 67 I-6 stang, do you think i should do straight pipes?? your sound good!
