@Castlevania333666 Where exactly? In US, where they're playing catch-up with Europe, butchering hip-hop/r&b while they're at it, and is geared towards a specific demographic, or should I say, showed down their throat...
@apexdna Religious influence? There may be a surprising amount of Korean idols who are Christian, but you wouldn't really be able to tell from their songs..
I've only been into kpop for a few months so I may be missing something, but what's this religious influence that you speak of?
@vacant2012 It's kinda hard to explain, but it's about religion (Churchianity) and it's side effects on the society as a whole...that guilt or fear if you will. Most people are stuck with choosing sides, either you're a saint (by church's standards) or a bad person, but most of the time you end up a hypocrite that's just scared of life. In Japan, they seem not to have that problem...they don't have to prove anything to anyone, unlike in America or South Korea.
@apexdna Oh I think I know what you mean. Seemingly inconsequential stuff seems to be a big deal there, such as idols getting caught with marijuana and their management cancelling their soon to be released record because of it.. it does seem most idols try to emphasize their relative innocence too.
I thought that had more to do with the general culture rather than a specific religious influence, but I don't presume to be an expert on either culture by any means.
@vacant2012 Fair enough...and now with the "Korean Wave" a lot of the Illuminati crap is seeping into Japanese culture as well. I'm not making Japanese seem perfect by any means, and let's not forget the highest suicide rates in the world that Japan is famous for. I'm simply pointing out the obvious things that I've noticed so far...
@apexdna I'm not disagreeing, but how do you mean that Korean culture is seeping into Japan? I know that pretty much any group who's halfway successful in Korea will eventually go to Japan, but how do you believe this affecting Japanese culture in general or Jpop specifically?
I have to admit I don't know too much about Jpop.. I had a vague interest in it around 7 years ago and my interest is reignited after getting into kpop.. heck, which is why I happened upon this MV. :P
@vacant2012 Yeah, but that's not how it used to be, it's a fairly recent phenomenon. If you ever looked into subliminal messaging, you'll notice a lot of American and Korean music acts incorporate Illuminati, Masonic, whatever-you-wanna-call-it symbolism, and I'm beginning to see a similar trend in J-pop...and imo it's the K-pop (and the American mainstream) that's triggering it, and again that's strictly my observation.
@apexdna hmm...I mean, I'm willing to back my point. It's my opinion so, I could care less where you like or dislike where the conversation is going. -_____-
Every artist lip synchs to their video for the original recorded songs. It has to be the same song they recorded in the studio, after all. Its not a new concept....o_O--now its when they lip synch at their CONCERTS that it becomes annoying.

then she shouldnt be famous. im going to be in American Idol or soemthing in Setember this year. and im going to be a singer next year and im not going to be lip singing.
honestly, why would an artist strain their voice unless they're live. this is a MUSIC VIDEO. look up videos and how they make it. Mariah Carey, Britney Spears, Nelly friken Furtado - they're not singing live in the video. why? Because there's no point. Of course they're going to use the studio recording. Goodness - ignorance really IS bliss.
and plus its like in musical movies. the quality of the peoples' voice is better in a studio and not usually on set, so its better to lipsynch because the quality is better for the audience
She's definitly not lipsinging. Video's a -little- off, but she's also speaking Japanese, and as some one that speaks mainly English, it's harder for us to comprehend Japanese singing and mouth motions.. She's for sure singing, and she does absolutly awesomely extremly well. >_>... Love her music. Her music is only exceeded by her beauty and her awesome voice. ^^
always supported her, i think its a shame shes always compared to utada, there both great i think that mai doesnt really like go for it at the end of the songs, utada sings more powerfully but i think mai is better at rhythem stuff so im gonna sit on the fence but i think mai needs more credit i like them both alot
