am i right thinking their first couple of albums sound like math metal? Quite a change with later stuff. moved onto a more space rock vibe. Both is cool though. Just strange that they sound 100 percent different. You gotta do what your feeling though, and these guys seem happy with both. More power to them.
cave in is brilliant in both of their genre phases, especially until your heart stops and jupiter. don't limit yourself to one genre, you'll dull your brain. not many bands do well in more than one genre, some other greats i know are candiria and codeseven
@th3m4rzv0lt4 I so agree, Damn i went and got "Tides Of Tomorrow" back in 2003 put it in my CD player and started driving to what I thought was going to be the usually heavy grinding sound I was used to on the earlier Cave-in releases, But this CD floored me! In-fact it started to change my out look on music and advancing my taste towards lighter but equally skilled genre's. Oh BTW Candirai all the way up to 300 percent density, phenomenal!!
cave in is a fuckin brilliant band both in their metal phase and space rock. until your heart stops and jupiter are all star albums. don't limit yourself to one genre, you'll dull your brain. not many bands make such a significant change, a few others i know are candiria and codeseven, both great

They took a different direction than you wanted them to, big deal. It may not be your cup of tea, but it is most certainly not shit. Oh no! A band you like progressed and made an album different from their previous ones! The nerve!
@UlquiorraBTBAM To my knowledge, that one was recorded around Creative Eclipses or the pre-producion era of Jupiter, but wasn't officially released (apart from the live version on the DVD of last year's Great Scott show). The mp3 floats around, but if you can't find it PM me and I'll hook you up.
Whats happening with Cave In now? The loudest band ive ever seen.... My ears buzzed for five days after the wedgewood rooms gig. The most underrated band of their time i'd say, nothing compares to the Jupiter era by anyone!
Hey, what does this lyric really mean? I can't see any metaphor there... well I suppose it's because I'm from spain and I can't really understand the meaning the phrase has, even understanding what does the phrase says. Did I explained myself? haha.
A common phrase is "check is in the mail," which usually means something isn't likely to happen (lots of people say that "the check is in the mail" to bill collectors in an effort to get them off their backs). So, it's really just a play on that phrase.
I'm sorry, I have to disagree with this definition. To say something is 'In the mail' means that it is going to arrive something soon in the future. So by saying 'The reality check is in the mail' means that whoever he is singing the song to is going to get a reality check. The expression 'The check is in the mail' means that in the future something, one is about to recive money, usually a substantial amount.
cool vid, too bad its not the actual audio track, sounds like you copied the song off the cd and layed it over the video, unless cave-in is the most kickass live band ever

beautiful music as well. alomst like a pacier Labradford, melody-wise. another candidate for my favourite new band along with Helms Alee.

i used to love that lyric when I was 16; at 23, not so much. it's too forced and metaphorically unpleasing.
this song marks the end of the 'good' cave-in era.

that's what is so appealing about it, though. it's absolutely ridiculous but you have to appreciate the cheese, haha.
