@jacksawild it doesn't matter...I think the regular wieghs slightly more, but it's ALL about the density. Anything that has a density that is less than the density of water will float in water.
@greeenpro2009 Respectfully, given they have an equal volume I would say the weight (or mass) does matter. I am interested because we don't have those kinds of pepsi here.
Well now i know, if im stuck on a desert island with 1 crate of diet pepsi and 1 crate of regulare pepsi, not to make my raft out of the regular. you may have just saved my life. well done.
you can always try some 100% juice and seltzer or tonic water. you get the fizz and the sugar but you get a lot more nutrients and less processed things.
Nada a ver a sua teoria ¬¬ A densidade da papsi diet e menor dq a de pepsi normal, se a lata de pepsi diet estivesse vazia ela nao afundaria e depois Iria boia ela simplesmente boiaria direto !
The artificial sweetener used in diet coke is hundreds of times sweeter per unit volume than regular sugar. Coke has about 11 teaspoons of sugar in each can which are taken up by water in the diet coke can. Since sugar is more dense than water, it is not surprising that the diet coke will be less dense than coke.
Your facts are on the whole correct, however cola companies do not produce cola with "real" sugar anymore. High fructose corn syrup and other artificial sweeteners have long since replaced them.
Another Pepsi product, Pepsi Throwback, boasts 100% "real" sugar content, and no artificial sweeteners. I would be interested to see a can of that up against the two already seen.
My guess is that the Pepsi Throwback would end up at the bottom with the "Regular" Pepsi because of its density. I'd like to try it though just to see for sure. Good idea.
ha got it right! =] only cuz ive accidentally lost a few cans of regualr pop in a lake before :/

this does this because the reg. pepsi can has more sugar and the diet pepsi has less that makes the reg. pepsi more dense than the diet

How much do they each weigh?

The carbonation was already in the can; shaking it does not create additional air inside the airtight can.
heptadecagram 2 years ago
shaking the can would not change the density of its contents though...
greeenpro2009 2 years ago
that would not do anything...

Have you done this experiment on more than these two cans?
If so thats an awesome find :)
I wonder what makes the diet more buoyant? Perhaps they use more carbonation?

It works with any brand of cola. Anyone have the answer as to why? Think sugar :)
