The Old Testament was written for a specific people (the Israelites), during a specific time and in a very different culture.. The Old Testament has to do with what's called the "Old Covenant" Ya things were different, things were different 200 years ago too. The balls getting cut off, I have never read in the bible.

@p6a9u1l42 Part 1) Once again, different historical time period and culture.. Things were different back then. Most of what you mention were laws pertaining to a treaty God made up with his people (Israelites) and if God (who is Holy, & Just) was going to dwell in the midst of his people, then sin was not going to be tolerated, it couldn't be. un-forgiven sin can't be in the presence of God. His is with out SIN. That's why there was atonement through the many types of offering.

Anyway you look at it (biblical or evolution) early humans had to mate with their own relatives.. We're still to abide by the ten commandments, I don't think that's changed, but the covenant has moved from what was found in the Old Testament into what we as Christians call the new covenant, found in the New Testament. This was completed by the self sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. It was the final payment for all of man-kinds sin.. Hope this makes sense..

If you think we live in some pretty wicked times, this is nothing compared to how they lived in the ancients. So yes God deal with the people of that time differently. Actually some of Paul's letters date to 40 AD that's pretty early.. As a matter of fact, all of Paul's writings were complete before 70 AD considering he died around 60 something AD. A strong argument can be made that Acts was written before the fall of Jerusalem in 70 AD and the Gospel of Luke predates that.

God also said he would never destroy the earth again with a flood. Those rules and laws were to help in governing Gods people the covenant he was establishing, we're not bound by these law's, for example we're not sacrificing animals on the alter, Jesus was the last sacrifice, he paid our penalty of Sin. The punishments may appear to be very severe in terms of what we see today. But I've mentioned the cultures were very different back then. I'm working through the Old Testament right now in my BRS degree.. It's tuff stuff to work through, but I still see a God thats very merciful, gracious and loving and morally superior to any other OT Idol or God..

It's not the studying of the stars so much as it was the "worshiping of the stars" or the looking to the stars to interpret current and or future events. I would say the book wasn't made by God but more the scripture from the book being, "God breathed" meaning the authors were inspired by the spirit of God to write. How can I explain this to you, we are no longer bound by the forms of the OT laws, they've been fulfilled through Jesus.

Something ain't right with this: The demon killed him? This should not have happened. Jesus gave us ALL power of ALL the power of the enemy (Luke 10:19). If he had faith in this truth (Rom 10:17) that demon could NEVER have overcome him (Matt 13:23). Even God would not let Satan kill Job. @brandonjamesbarnes all molecules were evolved out of particules and other diff. things i cant describe to you because im not sure of how to word it but it has been proven in a lab. its not hard to believe in a god thats the problem its the easy answer to hard questions and all it does is cause war and hatred if everyone was just athiest there wouldnt be less hate caused by what you believe in because a "god" didnt tell you to hate all the gays or anyone else...PROVE THERES A GOD

But the problem is.. When science starts to make theological and philosophical claims on human existence, yet at the same time, holds the view, that we're a product of blind chance, that we hold no special place in the cosmos. It tends to be a little self-defeating, to claim "absolutes" in a meaningless universe?

That's okay though.. If you do, go to Barrie Schwortz web page.. He was part of the original team of scientists to investigate the Shroud... And NO! its not a medieval forgery... Most scientists with any knowledge of the Shroud view it as authentic.

@p6a9u1l42 Well for starters, Jesus is the only one who made the claims he did. No one else even comes close.. The problem with your rant is, you've taken everything out of context. The Old Testament was written for a specific people (the Israelites), during a specific time and in a very different culture.. The Old Testament has to do with what's called the "Old Covenant" Ya things were different, things were different 200 years ago too. The balls getting cut off, I have never read in the bible.

@p6a9u1l42 Part 1) Once again, different historical time period and culture.. Things were different back then. Most of what you mention were laws pertaining to a treaty God made up with his people (Israelites) and if God (who is Holy, & Just) was going to dwell in the midst of his people, then sin was not going to be tolerated, it couldn't be. un-forgiven sin can't be in the presence of God. His is with out SIN. That's why there was atonement through the many types of offering.

@p6a9u1l42 Part 2) God also elevated the status of women and he also wouldn't except any type of human sacrifice.. Which was unheard of back then... Yes, punishment was severe for breaking key laws or stipulations of the treaty.. But God also demanded obedience from his people.. All through the books of the OT, you see a Just, Gracious, Forgiving God.. And a God who comes through with his promises.. Now that I have answered your questions, maybe you could kindly return the favor?

Anyway you look at it (biblical or evolution) early humans had to mate with their own relatives.. If evolution is true then we're still doing it today, after all, we all came from the same cell, didn't we? So how would this be any different..

@p6a9u1l42 Part 3) These rules or stipulations you're referring too were for a group of people in a different time and culture.. We're still to abide by the ten commandments, I don't think that's changed, but the covenant has moved from what was found in the Old Testament into what we as Christians call the new covenant, found in the New Testament. This was completed by the self sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. It was the final payment for all of man-kinds sin.. Hope this makes sense..

@p6a9u1l42 God dealt differently with people back then. It's tuff stuff to work through when one reads the Old Testament. But when one does, you see a gracious, loving and forgiving God. If you think we live in some pretty wicked times, this is nothing compared to how they lived in the ancients. So yes God deal with the people of that time differently. When Jesus was asked what the 2 greatest commandments were, he responded by saying "love your God with all your heart, strength and mind-----

@p6a9u1l42 Sorry part 3 should be 2) and to love your neighbor as you would your self.. Ironically these two commandments are what the others hang on... They're the most important.. Actually some of Paul's letters date to 40 AD that's pretty early.. As a matter of fact, all of Paul's writings were complete before 70 AD considering he died around 60 something AD. A strong argument can be made that Acts was written before the fall of Jerusalem in 70 AD and the Gospel of Luke predates that.

God also said he would never destroy the earth again with a flood. Those rules and laws were to help in governing Gods people the covenant he was establishing, we're not bound by these law's, for example we're not sacrificing animals on the alter, Jesus was the last sacrifice, he paid our penalty of Sin. @p6a9u1l42 Practicing astrology was considered a form of sorcery in the OT, God wanted his people to worship him, not the stars.. The punishments may appear to be very severe in terms of what we see today. But I've mentioned the cultures were very different back then. I'm working through the Old Testament right now in my BRS degree.. It's tuff stuff to work through, but I still see a God thats very merciful, gracious and loving and morally superior to any other OT Idol or God..

It's not the studying of the stars so much as it was the "worshiping of the stars" or the looking to the stars to interpret current and or future events. I would say the book wasn't made by God but more the scripture from the book being, "God breathed" meaning the authors were inspired by the spirit of God to write. How can I explain this to you, we are no longer bound by the forms of the OT laws, they've been fulfilled through Jesus.

All through the OT, the Israelites kept forsaking him and in stead of putting their trust in their God they put their trust in false idols and Gods from other cultures. I can assure you, God doesn't hate you at birth, he may hate the sin, but he doesn't hate the person. Sin is unavoidable, its in the world.

The problem is, we rebelled, and once we rebelled, it was to late, we could no longer share in that special relationship with God that we had before sin entered the world. Sin can not approach God, he is Holy. That's why we remain separated from God, it's the Sin, not the person. The sin is unavoidable in this world. It was through Gods grace, that he sent his Son Jesus to die on the cross to pay for our Sin in this world, once and for all.
