The joy of music is felt as soon as Lang Lang sits on the piano. It's a clear manifestation of someone enjoying and living his craft. I've seen so many pianist, but Lang Lang brings joy to my heart always when I leave his concert.
One only needs to look at Rubinstein, Horowitz, and other greats to realize that one doesn't have a facial orgasm every ten seconds to play musically.
many pianists does it.. And Horowitz had these flat fingers.. Horowitz was actually a very unusual pianist a bit like lang lang..
Rubinstein is also know for playing slow and sometimes too slow...
And I've watched many pianists who was either stiff in their expressions or had something else. And Lang Lang actually has a very free expression, he lives inside the music he plays.
Not that Lang Lang is necessarily the best, but he is not a bad pianist and let's focus on listening to the music.
@D2AsianMenace Please stop judge people by their facial expression rather by their playing. You dont have look at his face by the way. When you close your eyes and just listen to his play, you can find amazing emotion in his play. I truly involved with his play and his commentary also help me to understand the meaning behind the music and so I got even more emotionally evolved with the music.
To all Asians:What do you think if somebody "Occidental"goes to your country(could be China as an example) to play a concert of chinese music. And instead of playing with respect towards it, that musician since the very beggining of the concert makes all kind of ridicolous things laughing on it, and a kind of monkey mongoloid language, completely disrecpectful and pissing on you.WHat do you do? You give him claps?or you kill him?So why not occidentals make the same with this bastard?
I love all his faces!! He puts all his feelings on stage and shares them with us. He's putting all his heart on the piano and I CAN FEEL IT, Thank God!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fantastic ! I smile when I read comments about her faces when he plays. But just LISTEN to him playing and talking ! He is even so HUMBLE for his enourmous talent ! Bravo !

Too much pantomime, not enough music.
