At the end of "Welcome To The Machine" in the first set some asshat threw an M80 from the upper seats and Roger stopped the show. He went ballistic... and there was Clapton standing there with his headphones on looking a bit uncomfortable while Waters raved at us... what an unforgettable show!!
I was at this show. This was one of the best concerts I have ever been to - and I've seen a lot of great concerts. This tour really should have been properly documented on film.
my mum got me this from xmas 1988, and while driving to berlin in the summer of 1990 put it on loop, i drove past krupps steel works and dreamt under east german skies, and watched the wall by roger waters in potsdamer plaza, oh the stories i could tell, but my kids just say shut up dad, !!!!
This was an AMAZING show. Dead center of the floor (in all its quad glory) at the Spectrum in Philadelphia. Only regret: I was still out getting a hot dog when the first song started (the second set was Pros and Cons start to finish) and I missed the HUGE explosion that ended his nightmare in the opening scene. It shook the entire (concrete) structure though. Really wish there was an official video of this, or even a decent bootleg. Good memories.
This is the first time I hear Pros and Cons live - gotta admit, I am pretty surprised how close it sounds to the album. Waters at the top of his game, writing songs with so much emotional depth. I do get why some Pink Floyd fans would be dissapointed with this album - no catchy songs - but man, the album as a whole shines like the best of Pink Floyd's albums.
you would think dancinbear, but i have several bootlegs from the pros and cons tour and none of them sound the same. it's so sad there isn't much video of this tour or the radio kaos tour.
I don't think so. I have another bootleg from Stockholm, same tour, he sings it live. He didn't use tapes at the time. Even here, all the screaming parts don't sound exactly like the record if you listen closely :) He'd just recorded the album, it's quite normal he sounds the same :)
But on his recent tours, he did use playback tapes (Every Stranger's Eyes).
i was also at this show in my junior year of highschool...4th row!!! i must say, this is one of the greatest albums ever recorded.period!! havent grown tired of hearing it since the first time = )
i have to look him up lol- i cant connect with something on an emotional basis alone- even tho its cool- i need facts man lol- by god i love to learn- just me i guess.=0
I agree with you I loved the fact he did the entire Pros and Cons album then Radio Kaos. I still wish he would have done the same for Amused to Death. Ill take what ever I can get
@jkerrigan1990 To quote Roger. "Ive been making solo albums since the early 70's they just were called PInk Floyd Albums" Roger in concert is amazing. Ive seen every solo tour he has ever done.
My first concert ever (yes, this exact show). Would love to see the DVD of this. I'd forgotten how great David Sanborn was with the sax solo here (and through most of the second set). Throw in Eric Clapton on lead guitar, not to mention an incendiary first set of Floyd classics, and it was a show for the ages.
Waters is such a big heart

@cccraigus Hell,Roger is ALWAYS using the same riffs in his songs. Still,he does it well enough that u don't really mind it.

He is obviously lipsynching here. He couldn't possibly scream like this night after night. His voice would've blown out.

I think some of his vocals are on tape. The screechy parts sound exactly like the album.

I watched this for the slide lick b4 the screaming "on the road again" bridge.
I knew it was a once in a lifetime moment, one of the best pieces of recorded music ever. Clapton didn't even try to duplicate it live.
